Excellent. Scott bid the job in summer, was rained out in the fall, started back the job as soon as rains let up in spring. Kept in touch each step of the way. Total pro, with deep experience.

House painting exterior went very well. Scott is well organized and clearly communicative that while I was not in town that the job went without a hitch. He pays attention to details and treated my house as if it was his own. His workers were all well mannered and respectful. I have no hesitation in recommending Scott to work on your next paint job. in

I appreciated that Scott noticed and let me know about dry rot in soffits, and then did a great job adjusting schedule to all the roof to be repaired before the painting could continue. Also a great job with some simple carpentry repairing the tops of the posts as well as the vent the woodpecker had opened up, all at a very reasonable rate.

As usual, Emerald Coats delivered again. My deck was pressure washed and stained and the result is beautiful. The team also fixed a bunch of loose nails that made my deck creek. Thank you!

Scott from Emerald Coats was very responsive. I obtained 3 quotes. Scott was by far the most knowledgeable. For this project I was more interested in how each quote disclosed what they did and their approach. That is typically correlated to price. While value is important so is doing a good job. However it was obvious from the start that he was experienced and a professional. The house had not been painted in over 15 years and I wanted it done properly, expertly and with care. His team was lovely. respectful, courteous. Thank you Ryan and Jessica. And they are all very good at what they do. With my house I am not interested in cutting any corners. I should also add that I know absolutely nothing about painting and that Emerald Coats was patient with my many questions as I attempted to do my research before hiring a company, This was an important outlay of my hard earned money but I am tremendously grateful for the smooth experience.

This is the second time I've used Scott--the first time for the exterior of our house, this time for the interior. Scott is super nice, reliable, and trustworthy. He gave us a good price on the job, it was completed efficiently and the painting came out great. He was even cool with all of our nitpicky requests. This time, Scott worked on the job himself with another employee, who was respectful and professional. I will definitely use Emerald Coats again for future painting needs, interior and exterior. I have also recommended him to our friends.

We recently purchased our house knowing it needed to be repainted. I began looking for painters in June and schedule 3 estimates for end of June/early July. Scott was my third estimate. I had an appointment for Monday, July 3 but no one showed up. When I called to ask, Scott offered to come out on July 4. I took this as a good sign for customer service and responsiveness. Although his was one of the higher bids, I chose Emerald Coats for several reasons: Scott's willingness to take time out of his holiday to give an estimate Very favorable reviews and status on Angie's List Scott's extensive experience and knowledge of paint and wood Expected project timeline and completion by end of August. This summer we also had our deck replaced to fix a hazardous situation caused by poor construction quality (a process that only started after 8 months waiting on a permit from the city). Due to delivery lead time required to get the decking material, we knew there would be a ~2 week break during construction. Our hope was to have the house painted during this window to make everything as efficient as possible. When I brought this up with Scott, I was told this wouldn't be a problem and, if the timing didn't work out, the two crews would be able to work around each other without incident. Scott informed me his crew had several jobs ahead of ours so there might be a delay. As August rolled around, I asked for an update on when pressure washing and painting, I consistently got an answer that it would start in the next week or so. After the third time I mentioned that we were coming up on the end of our window for painting without the construction crew at the house. Finally, his crew came out to pressure wash with the expectation of getting started early the next week (allowing time for the house to dry). The construction crew was back when they came to paint, so Scott's crew started priming on the opposite side of the house. At first this arrangement was fine, but once the crew started encroaching on the construction area, difficulties arose. First, the crews had a very hard time working in the same location. We received calls independently from both Scott and the construction company owner informing us of issues related to the other crew. My wife and I each had to intervene on separate occasions to ensure ease tensions and smooth over the relationship. Second (and this was a major reason we hoped to have painting done before the new deck was installed), overspray and paint splatter occurred several times, causing the construction crew to have to clean up and in one instance replace several already installed planks. Third, there were a couple places where siding had been removed to install decking and support. I confirmed with Scott that he or his crew could come back to paint those once they were put back on. Scott asked that the boards be primed prior to his coming back. The construction crew used the remaining primer to do what they could on the new siding but what was left did not cover all the wood. Consequently, this led to further delays as we did not understand priming and painting could not occur on the same day. Ultimately, the house was painted and the quality of work done by Scott’s crew was generally very high. We are happy with the final product. Unfortunately, an estimated one week project took nearly a month and required intervention on the part of myself or my wife at nearly every turn.

"Great people to work with- it's hard for me to schedule a project in summer to exact dates when it rains- the deck guys ended up working at the same time as us- nightmare - these guys could've waited 1 week for us to finish so ya while we're spraying the house their installing the deck- they could've waited since they had to wait another 1-2 months to finish- I think the deck guys are still there- [Member Name Removed] and his wife had a tough go with this project but their house is painted well and will last forever- enjoy the holidays"

Everything went right, he checked for lead with me present and then walked around the house explaining everything that had to be done. Always informed me of work that had to be done. Kept his word on dates to begin and completion. He had a great crew, hard workers, respectful of my property and home. I will recommend Emeraldcoats Painting to all my friends because it's a company you can trust to do the right job . Mrs. Hayden

Ended up pleased with the result. We did need to check and manage details of the work throughout the project. Very responsive to concerns, problems and preferences. Crew was friendly, but not necessarily experienced or trained painters. Good value.
Response from Emerald Coats Painting Co
"I wasn't 100% happy with final product- we were asked to brush and roll all new trim work and I wanted to spray but they were on a tight budget so we did as they asked- I was on jobsite 100% and I had experienced helper-hardwood floors were masked great and project was kept clean at all times- I'll be on all job sites going forward and making sure my product is perfect- I don't care for "b" grades so I'll work on that as hard as I can"

We are pleased with the work. Scott was very diligent about keeping us informed of estimated start date of project. Crew members were polite and hard working despite record high heat. During the project, we brought a few minor issues to Scott's attention, and he saw that corrective action was taken promptly. Touch-up work was completed to our satisfaction.

Used an Angies list coupon & based on prior painters, I determined that the living room, halls & 1 bedroom could be finished in the allotted time. Scott & his assistant Karen took much less than the allotted time - using a specially purchased much larger roller that made quick work of the walls. There was a bit of misunderstanding about some trim work, but once that was clarified, Scott was quick to return & do the work (living room only).

After purchasing the package, I was contacted by Emerald Coats Painting. He asked us to send a picture of the affected area. After sending a photo of the area, which was roughly 1 inch by 4 inches in size, he responded by saying that it wasn't a project he wanted to take on. He would initiate a refund from Angie's List. We waited a week for the refund to go through, then finally called Angie's List. The rep told us there was no refund in the works because a contractor can never initiate a refund.

I purchased on Angie's List a special to have my deck power washed and stained. Mr. Allen came to my house shortly after purchase in early May to view the work. He said that my small deck was in excess of the 200 sq ft so that I would have to pay more - the excess was hand rails. Despite this, I agreed to pay the excess and have him replace 2 boards. He promised the work would be done by July 4 as I told him I was having a party and wanted it done in time. I purchased the boards and deck stain. He cancelled appointments 3 times. He said he lost my address. Never called to advise he was not coming. Then he called to try to re-negotiate the price and complained he was too busy. He was rude. The he finally came yesterday, allegedly to power wash. However, when he arrived, he saw the stain I'd bought which was a different color and said it wouldn't work and then refused to do the work. I told him that I would get different stain and that it didn't matter because he was just power washing and would have to come back another day to paint/stain anyway. He huffed off and told me to get a refund from AL. I have used several other AL vendors and never had issues. I have never been treated by anyone so rudely. I have not yet received the refund.

"First of all it rained all the way up until may 22 and every time the sun came out she called-I'm backlogged 4 months with with about 20 people calling on me to get these jobs done.i just finished an exterior from last September 29- when I finally got to pressure wash she told me she had changed color- you can't change colors and expect the same price- she was very rude to me and talked down to me- I'll never offer coupons again, it's starting to affect my business with these reviews from people whom I've done no work for"

Everything went very well. We had different pieces of our job which divided up well around the Memorial Day weekend. Painters were punctual, polite, professional and cleaned up everything. For the exterior, there was considerable work to pressure wash, scrape, prime, and then paint. The new paint looks beautiful and we are very pleased.

Everything went wonderfully! Scott and Louie arrived exactly on time. Louie worked very hard and without a break for hours. He was friendly and courteous, and even did minor repairs on two doors while he was working on my main projects. I highly recommend Emerald Coats and will hire them again!

It went well even though the weather was being uncooperative & delayed the start of the project. But kudos to Scott Allen for constant updates so that I knew that he didn't forget about me.
