First, the work done was excellent. I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever about the quality of the jobs done. The problem I am having is that I've paid for all work to be done and there is still one piece remaining (gutter guards) and I'm having trouble getting it completed. I'm understand that things have to be lined up but this has been going on too long and more importantly, I'm having to chase them down to get the last piece completed. Would I use them again, yes but I would not pay them until all work was done. I don't think this is shabby business practices but I do think there is a breakdown in communication somewhere.
Response from Excellent Exteriors
"We have since spoken with this customer about the work “not performed but paid for”. He was under the impression that his insurance company was paying for gutter guards which they were not we had completed all work that had been paid for by his insurance company and he is very happy to the best of my knowledge."

The estimator who came to price our job (Shawn ? sp.) was excellent. We started the process on 5/24. He provided a very attractive bid for the three tasks named. He told us the roof work would be done quickly, the other jobs may take a little longer to get started. After waiting a week or so I began to call their office about setting up a schedule. I spoke to Bill who seemed to be unaware of our job. He said he'd check on it. The next week, roofers showed up at our home at about 7:00 AM with no notification or warning. It created some unnecessary disruption but we were happy to have the work finished. After that, I didn't hear anything more from Excellent Exteriors. I started calling to ask if the wanted to collect money for the job and if they planned to remove the unused roofing material from my driveway. I called leaving voice mail twice with no response. Finally on a third attempt I reached Bill directly. He apparently had forgotten my contract, (again!) When I told him I owed him money he agreed to check on it. The next week, people were knocking on our door early in the AM to collect. Again, no warning, no announcement that someone was coming to our home. We were happy though to have taken care of that part of our business and had our account up to date. So another month has passed, I'm still waiting for the gutter and window replacements. I called Excellent Exteriors again today. I got voice mail but was not able to leave a message because the mailbox is full. I don't like to give an unhappy review to anyone but this has gone way past just a little confusion or complication to the order. Below are reasons I would recommend that you do not hire the company. 1. I've called repeatedly. Rarely does anyone answer the phone. 2. When the phone is answered, there seems to be no organization. 3. Lack of respect for the customer. Each time I've brought their fault to light the response has been to send people to our home in early AM hours without notice. The nicest thing I can say about that it that it's rude. 4. I still have about $1,200 of work to be completed. This process began in late May. It's early August with two of three tasks not started. 5. I'm not sure what to think when I have to call a vendor to let them know that I owe him thousands of dollars. I'm pretty sure that the vendor is supposed to send a bill, not wait for the customer to notify him. It seems to point to the disorganization I noted in point #2 Overall, I am very unhappy to have chosen this provider. Their estimator made a great impression and based on that, we thought it would be a good choice. Sadly the impression was better than the reality.

Horrible!!  They did a new roof, gutters and downspouts.  The Man that was in charge of the roofing seemed to know what he was doing, but the others did not. My gutter opening is now about one inch (Yes-ONE INCH) in some spots and does NOT do the job.  They're difficult to clean out and I now get water in the basement where I did not before.  When i tried to call him back, he would never return the calls. He was busy, out of town, etc.  Then I called once from the number on Angie's list and he finally answered the phone. Since he was caught off guard, he came out and looked, then said he would send someone to fix it. He sent a young guy who seemed to have a general handyman type of knowledge.  He said he was not a regular employee of Xcellent Exteriors and never worked for him before, but the guy was paying him to come fix it. So another subcontractor.  He said he made the gutters better, but he did not. They still don't work properly, have a very tiny opening and do not angle toward the drain. According to this handyman that he sent, the Mexican roofers started the shingles at the top instead of starting by the gutters, so it can't be fixed now. It would all have to be redone.  And the guys that installed the downspouts were SO AWFUL. They are so sloppy and crooked. I tried to tell them to fix it when they were installing, but they understood no English and just laughed at me.  It was a terrible experience.  I would not call them again -- EVER!

They didn't replace the plywood in a way I wanted the roof and as I directed them to do it. It didn't turn out too bad but I had to point out things to them to get it right but the job turned out to be okay. The price was reasonable.

In the end they left stuff around. They worked late at night and left things like broken glass in the sidewalks. The bricks that they had I don't know from where they got it from. They had in their thing that they will clean up anytime they work on somebody's roof. I thought they were pricey. I was disgusted with them. They weren't what I really expected. They didn't tell when they would be here. They were Mexicans and I wasn't really able to talk to anybody. The people who originally came I didn't see them again until they came down to collect the money. They didn't have supervision. The first time they were here they were on the roof and diagnosed it. I thought they should have one person here occasionally. They worked in the night and it was dark out here. I wasn't too impressed with them. I told them I will give them good rating if they do a good job. They were supposed to put rubber roof on the flat spot and the girl here told me they took the rubber through inside access and I was surprised to hear that and that was the first time. I thought they will cut the rubber roofing and the flat spot over the roof was the trouble spot. I paid double for what I paid in late 90's but that was a different company. The gutter was blown out on one side of the house and they didn't do that. They were here early enough. I called their number one day and went to the town for their office and there was no office there but somebody answered the phone at the number that they gave me. They were going to build something but they haven't started yet. The workers I thought did a good job even though I couldn't talk to them as they didn't speak the same language. They worked hard on it. The supervisor and people who ran the company I don't have anything good to say about them. I will not recommend them and tell people to be cautious. If I was rich guy $1000 wouldn't have bothered me. The exterior of the house looks bad. The insurance company came and they gave me $8300 to have the roof fixed and that included the two sides of the house and to put siding on. When this guy came up with $5700 for fixing the roof and the agreement was that they would do this job for no more money than the insurance company allowed so I was feeling good about it. I cannot judge their work but it looks good.
