Overall, it went well. The floors turned out great. My only complaint was that the communication could have been better. They showed up a couple days prior to drop off the hardwood to acclimate. However, they delivered red oak when our house had white oak in the existing hardwood flooring. They had already come out and assessed that it was white oak. Minor problem in the whole. They arrived on job day with the correct hardwood. Installation went well. Installer stained to match the existing almost perfectly which is tricky when staining new floors to match old floors. We just never had any real idea what the day to day plan was. We thought the company and the installer could have done a better job with an overview like, "we'll put the floors down on day one, day two we'll sand and stain. We'll have to put down poly then sand, then poly again." In the end, we have beautiful floors. Just would have liked to know what was going on.

I liked them. They came out on a coupon and refinished my hardwood floor landing on my stairs between floors. The used equipment that eliminated most of the dust while they were sanding and stained the bare wood to match my other flooring. Great job, it looks like a new floor!
The carpet installation itself was great. The installers were punctual, polite, and professional. Getting to the point of having the carpet installed was another thing. I had to call them several times to get everything arranged; they were not prompt at returning calls. When I was able to communicate directly with them, they were very polite and friendly but it seemed they were understaffed. There was some upselling pressure to get a better quality carpet but I declined.
The following comments summarize our hardwood floor installation experience with Expressive Flooring in Peachtree, City, Georgia.
Pre-Sale: Excellent. Courteous Staff. Arrived at no-cost appointment as scheduled. Very professional and knowledgeable about flooring.
Installation: The morning of installation, I had to contact the office to locate the installers. At that time and not before, I was told that one of the installers called out sick. They assured me they would arrive on the following day and complete the job the same day. I mentioned to the Office Admin that when we built our home, the wood arrived one day prior. Was this step unnecessary? Her reply was it was not necessary because their warehouse is already acclimated.
The installers did arrive on time (approx. 8:30a) the following day and began work immediately. It was apparent to me that they were commented to completing the job in a day. They did complete the job approx. 8:30p. They collected their remaining material and equipment. No clean-up or anything of that sort. Our living room and surrounding areas were in total disarray. For one example, they repositioned the clothes dryer in order to use the outlet. That is how they left it. The stairs are an additional story. They look very unprofessional and unfinished.
Service After the Sale: Initially, my husband was unpleased with the quality of their work. He made several critiquing comments to the Supervisor. There was a lack of attention to detail/seemingly a ?get it done? attitude. In approximately 15 months after installation, we noticed a certain area of the floor was unlevelled like the boards were going to pop out. I contacted Expressive. Summarizing, I was told that the job was out of warranty but they would be glad to come out and look at it. I understood. Again, I mentioned about the wood arriving ahead of installation for adaptation to the environment. The comment was the same about the warehouse being acclimated. I felt the situation did warrant a visit by Expressive for whatever corrective actions (repair, replace; etc.) were necessary to fix our flooring and to implement corrective actions from possibly future occurrences. Since they did the installation, we felt it would be better for them to repair it.
An appointment was set. The salesperson visited. However, due to a time conflict with my husband, he was running late for the appointment and missed it. We called Expressive to apologize and asked to make another appointment. A 2nd appointment was never confirmed. I contacted them repeatedly and was told by the Office Admin ?I will need to contact the sales person. I?ll get back with you.?
Repeated attempts were made to schedule another appointment. Finally, one day I called and the sales person answered coincidentally. He said the job was out of warranty but he would work with us on an insurance claim in necessary. He set a date to come out and to see the flooring. Unfortunately, he did not show up. Expressive is in the same vicinity as my son?s baseball field. Therefore, I decided not to call but to visit thinking face to face was better. When I entered, the sales person and the Office Admin were sitting at the front desk. They didn?t appear to be too busy (observation). I told them my name and the purpose for my visit. The sales person explained they?d been extremely busy. He turned to the Admin and said that he had asked her to contact me. She replied that she did but did not leave a message. Neither my caller id at home nor missed call on my mobile has a record of the call.
While I was there I expressed to them that something bizarre was happening to our floor and tried to schedule another appointment. This was unsuccessful because they would not commit. Because I work for a manufacturing company who takes after sales service seriously, I still thought it was necessary for them to see the flooring to hopefully analyze what was occurring. As I was leaving, the two were speaking to me in a different tone that I interpreted to mean they didn?t care if I was an unhappy customer. At this point, I became angry, got in my car and drove off.
I have not contacted and do not have plans to contact them again. Rather, we contacted another contracting company to analyze our flooring dilemma. As quoted by the company, ?After inspecting hardwood flooring in the living room area, there is a section of flooring approximately 4?x10? that is cupping, which is caused from moisture content inside the wood that didn?t get released in the curing process. There are no signs of moisture being introduced after installation, above or below flooring.?
The intent of these comments is to inform potential customers ?Buyers Beware? and that the lowest bid is not always the best bid. In our case, they were the lowest bidder of 3. Because of our experience, we definitely would not do business or recommend Expressive Flooring to any of our contacts. We plan to have the entire living room redone for fear of cupping in other areas later.

I had hardwood floors installed in two rooms and one large walk-in closet by Expressive Flooring (EF) on 4/18/2012 ($5,951.56, including installation of hardwoods on a flight of stairs). Noticed in July that the boards were cupping and started calling EF. After numerous calls, I finally got a promise that the troubleshooter would call back on 8/22. Didn?t happen. Called again on 9/5 and on 9/19, each time getting a promise of a callback. Didn?t happen. After another call to them, he finally showed up on 9/24, did a cursory examination, and said that the cupping was within ?industry standards? and there was nothing they would do.

I hired a certified wood flooring specialist to come in to give me a second opinion on 12/6 ($395). He noted cupping measuring 1/32? to 1/16? in height. He further noted several breeches of industry guidelines set forth by the National Oak Flooring Manufacturers Association, the National Wood Flooring Association, and most wood manufacturers. First, the flooring was installed the same day it was delivered. According to these guidelines, flooring must be acclimated at the jobsite until moisture levels in the subflooring and flooring are within 2% of each other. Second, according to the guidelines, ?moisture testing must be performed on all sub flooring/substrates and the wood prior to the installation.? This was not done. Also, the installer must check the crawlspace prior to installation. According to the inspector, ?In this case, a quick inspection when the job was estimated would have revealed that the crawl space was unacceptable, and therefore the job site was not ready for a wood flooring installation.?

I called EF on 12/22 to get the job number so I could submit a request for evaluation of the flooring by the manufacturer and got no response to 2 calls.

Interestingly, original hardwood floors (1984) in other rooms in the house on the same level have shown no signs of cupping in the 8 years I?ve been there.

I waited almost a year to leave negative feedback, hoping that the cupping might abate (I had the crawlspace rehabilitated to the tune of ~$8,000). But it hasn?t. Every morning I jump out of bed and my feet instantly remind me of the crummy installation. Heartbreaking.

A very positive experience. We started out with refinishing the hardwood in our foyer and decided to continue on with this company to have them install hardwood steps and risers to the stairwell in our house. They did a great job and we are so glad to be rid of the carpet on our stairsteps. We will have them out again when we decide to do other flooring.
Very good. Gentleman came to my home with samples of granite. He measured the countertops and island countertop and I was told my measurement was incorrect and the cost was an additional $500.00. Agreed to the additional cost and was told to pay it later. Received a call to schedule an appointment to have installer come out to make templates and was told where to go to pick out the slab of granite. Asked about paying the $500 and was told to pay it later. Gentleman came out and did the template. Very professional. Maybe a week later received a call while at work and was told the installer was in my area and was it possible to have the countertops installed that day? (do not remember the date) Left work and two gentlemen were waiting for me at my home. Both were very nice and professional. The sink they were to install was the wrong size and one of the men had to leave to get the correct sink. The countertops look very nice. i would have liked the seams to be less visable but very happy with my ciuntertops. Received a call probably about three months later and was asked when could I pay the $500.00? I requested an invoice but have not received it. But overall very happy and satisfied and definitely use them again. Still waiting on the invoice.
I chose Expressive Flooring to replace my old carpet and pad in the great room, hall, and three bedrooms. Their sailes person was very easy to deal with and helpfull with the type/style of carpet I wanted. Their origional estimate was very reasonable and they provided the service on Saturday (I needed that so I would be present). Their crew arrived on Saturday morning and went to work immediately. They moved the big furnature and did the extra little things that you normally forget to do. Their work was professional and they double checked their work as they moved from room to room. I could not be happier with the job and will use them again should the opportunity arise in addition to recommending them to my friends.
They came and weren?t even off to a good start. They put paper on the stairs but didn?t actually tack it down, my husband had to do it. The paper kept tearing as people were walking up and down the stairs. I asked them if they had any booties to put over their shoes and they said they didn't because it would get torn up by the tile. They tiled the bathroom and it was unbelievably horrible job. I had a decorator come and look at it and he couldn?t believe the quality of the work. Michael came over and told me he could fix the issues and told me that someone would call me but no one ever did. I ended up having to call them back myself. They were going to send the same guys back a second time but I told them I wanted a new crew.

They sent a new crew of their ?best guys? and they were a little more professional. They covered stuff with cloths and taped around my closet. They did a fairly presentable job, but not perfect. I got strips to divide the different types of tile but they didn't lay flat against the wall after the crew installed them. There was also a little hole down on the bottom of the floor prior to this work and they made the hole a lot bigger. They also made a new hole on the other side of the shower, chipped one of the top tiles and got something on my shower door that is crumbly. Their grout work wasn?t great but I can live with it.

When the first crew left I noticed that all of my valuable jewelry was missing. One was an emerald ring that my son had gotten me in South America. Another was a pearl ring and some diamond and gold earrings. In total I am missing about five rings and two sets of earrings and a camera. I?ve talked with Michael about some of these issues but I feel like he keeps twisting my words to make things my fault and it annoys me. I had also asked Michael if his workers could be trusted as I didn?t want to have to hide my jewelry.
Response from Expressive Flooring
"Once the installation was complete, Expressive Flooring was contacted about some concerns with the overall install. Michael was schedule to go to the home and inspect. Upon inspection, he determined that areas of concern could be properly fixed. Expressive Flooring was made aware that some things were missing, but was told the missing items would be filed on the homeowners insurance and the homeowner did not want to point fingers because there had been other people working in the house also. The 1st install crew that went out was scheduled to make the repairs (no mention was made about sending another crew.) After rescheduling the repairs several times, we agreed with the homeowner to send a different crew. Expressive Flooring also agreed to replace the tile with whatever selection the homeowner chose. The homeowner was repaid for all the replacement material she purchased and both installation crews were paid. After the 2nd installation, the homeowner call our office requesting we to return to the home to make additional repairs. After the request for the repairs, she requested both installation crews information and our insurance information to report the missing items. We have no problem standing behind our installation warranty, and as we attempted, we will go out of our way to make sure our clients are satisfied."

I bought two Angie's List deals for refinishing the hardwood floors in my house. It was very easy to schedule a time for the rep to come out, and I was emailed an estimate in a few days. They were very accommodating with my scheduling, and completed the work sooner than expected. I have received my compliments on the floor...it looks brand new. Very easy company to work with, no hidden costs, and quality work. Will definitely plan on using them again when it comes time to replace my carpet

From start to finish Expressive Flooring was on the case so to speak. After several weeks of exausting calling and trying to get my floors tiled many businesses did not return my call in a timely manner, that was until I contacted Expressive Flooring. Michael the owner came out to give me an estimate, I was a little apprehensive at first because of past experience however, Michael the owner made me feel comfortable and he was very knowledgeable about flooring in fact, he made some great suggestions that I used in tiling. Expressive Flooring followed through not only at the beginning but, throughout the whole entire project. They made sure all of my needs were met and questions answered. I especially would like thank Tina and Brandy in the office for making my experience a good one.

Overall, the experience was good. Everyone we dealt with in the showroom, on the phone and in our home was professional and friendly.
We were disturbed that the installer didn't see the problem with the slope before he completed the shower floor. However, he and Expressive Flooring did what was needed in a timely manner to make it right. If there had not been a problem with the floor, we would gladly give all As to Expressive Flooring.
Now we have a beautiful new master shower and are pleased with the results.

The company responded very quickly after being notified that we needed this work done. The installers arrived almost an hour late on the appointed day. The installers were polite and courteous. The installed the carpet runner very quickly. Unfortunately, they did not give me an option to not glue the runner to the stairs. The invoice for payment did not arrive on time. Fortunateloy the biller was very kind and amicable.

We were very happy! My husband and I are both getting older and unable to move furniture. Expressive Flooring helped move all necessary furniture so that we did not have to before they installed the carpet and vinyl. Their staff was extremely polite and made the whole experience comfortable and easy. This was the first time that we had changed our flooring in many years and we were very excited with the results. Not only was the carpet and vinyl very nice, but it made the whole house look new. I appreciated Mike and his team for being willing to work with us around our schedule and helping us move our furniture as well. What stood out to me was that Mike went out of his way to make the whole experience smooth and easy! The carpet and vinyl is beautiful and has given our whole house a facelift. We are very happy and would glady recommend this company to anyone we know.

We would highly recommend Expressive Flooring to anyone. They had just finished up our floors before the holidays and they look beautiful! We had new floors to show off to our friends and family for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Expressive Flooring had the best service and the best prices of all the other companies that we checked. The most important thing for us was that they were very personal and easy to work with. Our floors were installed right away and we had the most pleasant experience with this company!

We called Mike and a got a free estimate to sand and finish the hardwood on our main floor as well as adding hardwood to our family room which currently had carpet. Mike was very friendly and professional, and of the three quotes that we received the most reasonable. I called Mike with any and all questions that I had and he answered and returned my calls and emails promptly. We were able to schedule our job within an week of Mike coming out to give us an estimate. When the workers arrived, we were very pleased with how professional they were and how carefully they handled our furniture as they helped us move it out. There was a lot of work to be done, but when it was all finished the hardwood floors shined beautifully and the new hardwood flowed well with the old hardwood. We were very excited at how Expressive Flooring was able to stain the old hardwood close enough to match the new hardwood. We were very pleased with their service and would be happy to refer them again.
