Was a little bit of a communications problem getting the job set up. I excused that, because it was a busy time for roofers, due to recent bad weather. The day they came they were several hours late, but they did the work efficiently and effectively... no further roof leaking from that area. No payment made, as job was covered under warrenty. They said they could tell the boot had been put on when they did the job originally, but it is a mystery as to what could have happened to it in the 2 yr interim!

In June 2017, Exterior Building Solutions fixed some siding and tuckpointing on my house, which was in the process of being sold. The work was adequate, but the customer service and the mess left behind was unacceptable. Siding was left in the yard, rubble from the tuckpointing was left on the roof, nails were left on my porch, and my hose was left turned on. My contact, Josh, was of no help when I brought these issues to his attention, telling me to throw away the old siding myself and doing nothing to compensate for the mess left behind. Will never hire this company again.

"EBS was contracted to do some small repairs to this property. When the client informed of us his closing date, we pushed them to the top of the schedule to make sure everything was completed before closing. The siding that was left on the property was new material that was not needed, it was left so that it could be used for any future repairs needed on the house. The tuck pointing was not fully completed yet as the crew performed some extra work as a courtesy and needed to wait for some adhesive to dry before coming back to wrap it all the way up. EBS strives for customer service but unfortunately none of these issues were brought to our attention until after the job was completed and the customer received the invoice. We would have happily sent a manager out to correct these issues had we known they were going on. After informing the customer that the job was completed in accordance with the contract, and we felt we were due the full amount, this review was posted. We have since been authorized to perform more work on this property."

We are very happy with the end result. Only complaint is the crew made a terrible mess when removing our old siding. They left trash in our yard, from the siding but also lunch wrappers & water bottles.

Same company had tuckpointed and reflashed around same chimney several years ago. When I called them back, their man in the job claimed the flashing was done incorrectly. Although I pointed out that it was the same company (EBS) that did the work before, they still charged me for the work. To make matters worse, the chimney still leaked. Upon another visit, they now claimed that the real issue was I needed a chimney cap. After another $500 charge for that, the leak was finally repaired. In my opinion, I shouldn't have been charged any additional cost after the first job. I'll never do business with EBS again.

The rep Brett was great, available for all our questions and thoroughly explained everything. The crew showed up, tore off our old roof, installed the new one and cleaned up in 2 days. It looks great. Very happy with the whole experience.

Not so great. Ours is a distressed property so it needed a lot of care, and we were aware of that. Initially we contracted just for gutters and fascia, but it turned out we needed roof repairs and that was fine. However, they treated our property very badly. EBS workers left garbage all over our lawn; not just lumber and scrap from the job, but also dirty socks and shirts. We had to withhold payment until they came out to clean up. Also, long after we'd paid our substantial deposit, it took several texts and phone calls to get them to come out to finish the work. We understand having problems getting a crew out to work, but calling us to keep us informed instead of making us contact them repeatedly would have been nice. Once the work was completed, the gutters leaked in one spot and they did come out and fix that promptly. But overall, it was not a good experience.

Exterior Building Solutions was contacted and was at the house within the hour to do an inspection and give an estimate. Mike of EBS got on the roof and took pictures of the cause of the leak, which was obviously due to the incompetence of the previous roofer. Mike provided an estimate, which I accepted, and the work was completed within several hours time. I was also given pictures of the repaired areas and a six-month warranty. There have been two heavy rainfalls without a sign of leakage, so I am hopefull that the problem has been resolved. Overall, EBS was easy to work with and was responsive to my needs.

Unfortunately, one of the skylight lights still leaks. After about 3 weeks after the repair, the skylight leaked. I called the company about my concern but the service man did not return my call.

We were extremely happy with the services. I had been looking for a roofer to do repairs for a year and a half. We have an older home with an extremely steep roof, and the contractors I contacted wouldn't consider it. I found Exterior Building Solutions on Angie's List. In the time I was trying to find someone to do repairs, I decided that it would be best to replace the roof in its entirety. The bid I got from Exterior Building Solutions was $3,000 less than another roofer had quoted me. I believe the job took longer than they anticipated, but they didn't add anything to the original price. I would not hesitate to recommend them to someone looking for a roofer. <br />

Excellent work delivered for a good price. The stone in our steps is no longer for sale, but they searched for closest matches in their own stone samples and made sure the rebuilt steps had the new stones mixed in so the differences blend in. <br /> On the fascia, they spent the extra time to deliver great craftmanship for a very complex front fascia build. <br /> EBS also did our roof 3 years ago and did a fantastic job on that so they are our go-to choice for exterior work. <br />

Other than a hiccup with ordering and a 2-week delay, Exterior Building Solutions came up with an economical solution to rotting wood on our dormer (2 1/2 stories up). They accomplished the work in 2 days and did a superior job. <br />

It took a while to get it scheduled, but the work was done in one day. EBS has low minimum rates, so I was able to wrap a few windows at a time (as I had the extra cash). I plan to have them wrap the exterior wood trim and under the roof eaves. <br />

EBS was one of three companies who we got quotes for on our roof. One company suggested a ridge vent and a couple of other extras. When I mentioned these to Mike, my EBS contact, he gave me reasons why my house was not a good option for those. (The ridge vent because of the placement of my other vents, which could suck snow into the attic) When I googled around, I found similar concerns on internet contractor sites. So basically, they were concerned enough with my property to suggest I not spend extra for something I don't need, and they understood the physics behind roofs and ventilation better than their competitors. <br /> Rich was my contact for the actual work, and he did a great job keeping in touch as we waited out rain to work on the roof. I gave them a B because after the project was done, we had two slight leaks (tiny) around our vents, (which Rich and EBS came out to fix the morning after I texted them, multiple times) and the workers didn't reattach the power line to my house in a secure way when they left on the day of the replacement. When I told Rich this part about the power line, he came by and had that fixed within a half hour, which I very much appreciated. The leak was due to the workers cutting the shingles too close to the vent to make it look nice, and when they figured out the problem, they replaced those shingles and offered to clean and repaint the ceiling. <br /> So the B was due to a couple of mistakes, (grades as good, not excellent) but I do want to note that they were VERY responsive, professional, and came out multiple times to make sure the repair was done correctly. Whenever I texted or called, they always responded very promptly, which I appreciate. <br /> In my book, no one can be perfect, but if you are willing to take responsibility for your mistakes and fix them, then I'll work with you. I would work with EBS again because I know they will be professional, do good work, and will readily fix any mistakes they might make. You can't ask for much more than that. <br />

A year after the new roof was installed, a windy storm caused a leak into my upstairs closet. As the installation was still under warranty, we called them up to address the issue, which is where we began to discover how many corners were cut in the repairs we had paid for. <br /> From the original patch job we paid for in 2013, it appears that only 2 new chimney caps were installed, with another left untouched. <br /> From the roofing installation, it appears that the TPO (a white plastic, pool-liner-like material) was not properly installed over the edge of the walls of my house, so that water could be blown in from the side during stormy weather. <br /> The tuck-pointing was sloppy, with mortar caked on to the exterior of the brick, providing plenty of surface area for ice to cling to in the winter. <br /> They sent out a very chatty, and seemingly honest man to do the initial fix (it leaked again) and followup repair. He is supposedly the inspector, but he also seems to do the fixes, so who inspects his work? They also send him out alone to climb up a 40 foot ladder onto the roof, which seems reckless (or cheap) to me. The leak has now occured a 3rd time, and the same man was sent out to deal with it. Is it fixed? I have no idea; I guess I'll wait until it rains really hard. <br /> My initial call into EBS this year to address the leak was around May 9th or 10th, and the repair man/inspector came out on May 11 for the first time. When my roof leaked a second time the next week, I called the managage ("Rich") and insisted that not only should the leak be taken care of, but a second, thorough inspection was to be performed to verify all the work I paid for was actually done and up to spec. That phone call was on Saturday, May 16, and he returned my call that Monday to schedule the second repair and promise that he would dig up all paperwork regarding my house and fully address all short-comings of the actual work. <br /> I have yet to be notified when the chimney cap will be taken care of. In fact, I've never recieved a phone call, email, or physical piece of mail that wasn't prompted by me calling them first, unless it was to get me to sign something or pay them. <br /> At this point, I will be hiring an independent building inspector to make sure that what I paid over $10,000 for was actually done to spec. <br />

"EBS did in fact replace the mortar cap on this members home. There are 5 chimneys on the home, they hired us to replace the mortar cap on 3 on them and repair a 4th. There was no work to be done on the 5th and that is the one they have mentioned here. We did however go back and replace the cap on the 5th chimney after they contacted us and did so without charging the client. The leak they are having is not from the roof we installed or any other work we have done there. The gutter on their home is in need of replacement and is leaking. The tuck pointing behind the gutter is in poor shape and therefore the water is coming in there. EBS has done everything we were contracted to do and then some. I did not respond to this report until I had all the facts. I'm sorry this client is having issues but they are not the result of any work we have performed or were supposed to have performed."

EBS estimated the job would take two days. However, they completed the job in one day. Originally, the first day was supposed to be to remove decades of roofing and repair materials. The crew discovered the removal process would take longer than expected. <br /> Instead of prolonging the job, EBS called in additional workers and was able to remove and replace in one day. <br /> After the job was completed, an inspection was completed. During the inspection, it was noted that tuck pointing was needed. The additional services were completed in the same professional manner at no additional cost! <br /> We will definately call EBS when our own roof needs to be replaced. <br />

EBS was very prompt, honest and professional for their estimate appointment. They recommended things that i would not have thought of and suggested not modifying the gutters in areas where it would not make much difference to our overflowing issues. They were $250 less than the other estimate i got from another contractor. <br /> After receiving my deposit, the work was completed about a week later (which i did not need to be present for). My only suggestion is that they should call the day ahead to notify you. They cleaned up everything and the work done exactly as they said it would. <br />
