Exterior Restorations

We contracted their services last July and they finished their services in January. They didn’t start until the middle of September or November but the place wasn’t painted. It took till January for the painters to paint it. We contracted them in July 6th or 11th, he said that he would come in 2-3 weeks and he came in September. They took $15,000 for the siding and $3000 for the painting. My experience with them was awful. The quality of their work is very nice and it is a really quality job but they weren’t here when they said they were going to be here. They took forever to finish the job. They come for three hours a day and we suspect that they were going to another job that they were working on. We just discovered that they didn’t paint some part of the house because it was up on the roof where we can’t see but we caught it when we sold our home. We were really disappointed because it wasn’t purchased and it made us from selling our house. I would not use them again.

I don't have enough time to write all the bad details of this job but will give the basics.  Tony is a very nice guy but something went very wrong during the time I dealt with him.  It was quite amazing to watch a contractor that had such good ratings on Angie's List fall off a cliff to a disaster contractor. <br /> He finished less than half of the job he was scheduled to do, did major damage to a slate floor in one of the work areas, then never showed up again after repeated calls to him.  I had to hire another contractor to finish the job he started.  Most of the work that was done by Tony needed to be re-done to make it satisfactory.  <br /> As a side note, Tony's contractor license was suspended by Washington State during March of 2013.  As of this writing it has not been reinstated. <br />

In mid-August of 2012 Exterior Restorations came to my home in order to provide a quote for residing the house.  On the 23rd of August, Tony Connell returned to the house in order that we could sign a contract for the work.  At that time, he stated that the work would be performed in the last week of September or first week of October.  That timing being agreeable, my wife and I <br /> signed the contact and provided Tony with a deposit of $6,200 via personal check. <br />   <br /> On October 6th, we called Tony because we had heard nothing from him and the date by which the work was to be performed had passed.  He said that he had fallen behind due to a few houses having substantial rot and requiring far more time than he had <br /> planned.  He said that he would be getting to our house within three weeks. <br /> Those weeks passed without contact with Tony or any other representative of Exterior Restorations. We contacted him again via telephone on November 10th.  He again said that he was delayed by the houses from the late summer and too few employees to cover his needs.  Tony said, however, that our contract was next on his queue and that he would contact us by the end of the Veterans' Day weekend.  He did not do so. <br /> On December 11th we contacted Tony again to state that his failure to perform the work had disappointed us.  He once again claimed that we were up next and used the same excuses for the delay as he had been using for months.  When confronted with that, he asked if we wanted our money back.  We told him that yes, we wanted a refund of the deposit, and that a letter would come to him <br /> confirming it. <br /> Following that phone call, a certified letter was sent to Tony affirming the cancellation of the contract and providing him with a <br /> self-addressed, stamped envelope for him to refund our deposit.  The letter required a signature for return receipt and, although the post office notified Exterior Restorations of the letter, Tony did not take delivery. <br /> On December 28th, 2012, a complaint was filed with the Better Business Bureau with the information above. The Bureau openned case number 22372393. Exterior Restorations was notified of the complaint on January 10th, 2013, with a response required by January 23th.  That deadline passed without response and the Better Business Bureau resent the notification. As of February 3rd, 2012, there has been no complaint response from Exterior Restorations. <br /> <br /> <br />

This has been an awful experience.  Do not hire him.  He did not do the work that was promised by the 11/20 agreed upon completion date.  He threatened to not do a good job on my house while the job was underway when I asked for a completion date.  Mr. Connell told me the last year has been crazy with employees leaving suddenly having personal issues and several injuries to his employees.  He lacks communication and does not return phone calls or follow thru on promises.  I'm only paying him the rest of the money before it is done so I never have to deal with him again. <br />

I would highly recommend them. The punctuality and professional was a key factor with me hiring them.

Tony was the ultimate professional he was timely. His crew were always polite. Our renters were pleased. He always responded to me in a timely manor. He worked well with me and my renters in everything we asked. He would work with my scheduled. The crew would always clean up after themselves every day. They even helped move some of the furniture for my renters. Which they did not have to do. He came in right on budget. There was no surprises. He had everything in his truck to make the decision there on the spot. I had estimates from other companies. His estimate was the best price for the best quality supplies. I would highly recommended him.

We had a leak in our roof... We met with Tony to sign the contract and he had his crew out the next day to tarp our roof. They were able to start the next week. The did a great job replacing our roof. They were done within 4.5 days and cleaned up after themselves each day.

They got the job done in three days. They cleaned up when they were finished. They are thorough, professional, and on time. They did a good job and I highly recommend them.

Tony was great to work with. He was responsive to our requests and questions.  He returned his bid quickly and he was open to working with us on different ideas. We found the decking material on "close-out" way up in Bellingham. Tony went up to inspect it on his own time, found it to be a good fit for us, and secured it for us for the project. The whole project went smoothly, Tony was easy to reach, and always returned our emails and phone calls right away.  He had a three man crew for our project and was finished in about three weeks.  Tony is very honest and we really appreciated the trust that we felt when dealing with him. Sometimes with construction projects you just don't know what will happen, but there were no suprises with his company and we would definitely use his company again.

This company is fantastic. Not only did they do a great job, they exceeded our expectations. These guys are experts in what they do. John, built the deck and found some additional problems that needed repair and went above and beyond to ensure that everything was fixed and we would no longer have any problems with drainage. <br />   <br /> I would not hesitate to contact this company, they are perfectionist and I would definately use them again. <br /> <br /> Thanks John and Tony!!

Tony was great to work with, no complaints with him. His sub contractors for my job were just so so. They acted like they just didn't really care that much. They were nice and polite but came off lazy and in my opinion their work was sloppy at times. I had to asked them to redo several things. They did so with no complaints but I felt like they knew it was not right and were hoping I didn't notice. At the end I was satisfied but I would rate the job they did for me a weak "B". It might have been lower but Tony was great to work with.

<p>When choosing a contactor, I rely heavily on the reports that other members have written as I do my research. So far I've had great results with four other contractors, but tony Connell and EXterior Restorations may be the best yet.<br /> <br /> Tony came out soon after I contacted him. He evaluated the problem, patiently answered all my questions, and presented me with a very competitive estimate. Although I hired him at the end of August and he was very busy, my house was done quickly.</p> <br /> The work was done by Kjel and Kevin. They worked well together and obviously knew their stuff. They too answered my many questions. It was their expertise and initiative that led to a job well done. First, Kjel noticed that the flashing where my garage roof met the second story wall was only about an inch high in two or three place. He replaced that flashing with some that was more than three inces high. Second, the guys noticed that the sheathing under the siding was a poor product and deteriorating ( I thought my house was complete sheathed in plywood-wrong!), so we replaced it with a superior product. They also replaced some trim boards and caulked everything. They took care of every detail and cleaned up everything each day for three days. My house looks great and I feel like I made three new friends.

I thought their price was reasonable and they did a very good job. Everything about our contract was very good.

Tony was fantastic from start to finish. His initial estimate was professional and thoughtful. He had some great suggestions for things we had not thought of. Because of health issues with one of our children, he suggested the fiber cement siding instead of a Hardy plank because the respirator requirements were less. He also had his crew use low off-gassing caulk for all the interior seals on the windows. <br /> <br /> The work crews were professional and friendly, and the work was completed on time. <br /> <br /> Before Tony will sign off on the job being finished, he personally inspects everything and makes sure you are satisfied with the work. He discovered a manufacturer's defect on one of the windows and had the window company come out and take care of it under their warrantee program. <br /> <br /> Our neighbors love how the house turned out and we've recommend Tony to a few of them.

Tony (owner) came out to give an estimate on the work I wanted done. Tony listened to my wishes and made good suggestions. His crew started about the time that Tony had promised. The crew was professional and worked diligently. The weather was the only factor that kept the work from being completed as promised. The painters were also professional and hard working. The house looks brand new. I felt that Tony was honest and critical of the work of his crew. I had two other bids. His was the lower of the the three. I would use his services again and have already referred him to a friend.

Tony and his crew did a great job, especially considering that we modified the job as we went. We found considerable rot at tear off and this led to our decision to expand the project. At each level Tony (owner of ER) was very good about what the costs will be and stayed within that amount. All of the crews were especially good at cleaning up at the end of each day and checking in to make sure everything was good with us.

Everything was extremely professional, and they finished on time and exactly at the estimated budget. No surprises. I will definitely contact them again when I have additional remodeling done to my house. It was absolutely worth the cost to have complete peace of mind that the job was completed exactly as promised and added beauty, functionality and value to my home.

My experience with them was quick and easy. It was a good price compared to others.

Prompt response for estimate. Tried 2 other highly rated companies on your list & was not impressed (don't think they were interested in job--too small?). Began work about 3 wks after predicted but once they started, were very nice & efficient. Finished work looks good to us with good paint match.
