Back Story: We purchased a house a bit over a year ago wherein our inspector failed to note the rough condition of our crawlspace. After much research, I decided upon Phillip Madden's Exterior Waterproofing. The project itself was completed last August; I wanted to put the project through the rainy season of Alabama to get an idea of how well it went before I posted my review. As my rating shows above, I am absolutely happy with the outcome. Phillip and his team came in and swept my crawlspace by storm. By the end of the first day, my crawlspace already looked fantastic. That is a lot to say about a crawlspace... The full project finished earlier, and I seem to recall that his team put in 7-8 yards of gravel. In other words, these guys worked tirelessly and hard. Upon completion of the project, I installed a humidity recording device in the crawlspace to monitor the area. It was stayed at an average of 47% since installation. Prior to installation, there was moisture dripping off of the air ducts. Moreover, the air quality in our house has improved SUBSTANTIALLY. Fortuitously, we had a gravity drain already fitted. As it turns out, we will need to drop the drain and have a sump installed. You can count on the fact that I am about to call Phillip to do that work.

Phillip is professional and very knowledgeable on what specific waterproofing is required while not trying to pressure you into a more expensive project. He does a great job educating on how the water is coming into your crawlspace (or at least in my case it was a crawl space job), and he provides a set of solutions to help remedy the situation on a tier basis. Both he and the crew provide helpful videos pre-, during, and post-installation. Recently (as the project was completed months ago), my sump pump began making strange noises that you could feel through the floorboards, and I sent a message to Phillip that evening in an attempt to determine if this was a serious issue. He was quick to respond and informed me a crew would be out to take a look the house the next day (this was on a Saturday). At the end of the weekend I wrote him back to check on the prognosis, and I learned they had already replaced the pump as it was under warranty. Not just a sell and never see again businessman...I can appreciate that.

Phillip and his crew arrived on time and installed a Gravity waterproofing system installed in one day! They were professional, courteous and even matched the price of another competitor. Would highly recommend this company to anyone who has a water issue in their home or business.

Mr. Madden did a video recording inspection which was then sent to me for my records. It explained why I was seeing moisture, what the causes were and ideas for further treatment - which in my case was not necessary. I was so impressed with his ability to explain and offer recommendations without breaking the bank! I will definitely recommend to everyone!

Exterior Waterproofing, Philip Madden and his crew, are superb contractors. They are not cheap, but their price is fair and reasonable for the work they do and it is a pleasure working with them. They are one of the few contractors I've hired who have done the work on schedule, on time, at the highest quality and at the agreed upon cost. Phillip Madden's lead man Mark and his crew installed downspout drains from my gutter downspouts using heavy 4 inch PVC pipe and ran these underground, some out to the front street gutter, and others back to a drainage ditch behind my property. They did a very neat job of laying back the sod and the soil onto black plastic, then putting the pipe in and replacing the soil and the sod such that you can't even see where this was done ! I have never seen such neat work as this crew did ! They even painted the exposed parts that attach to the downspouts to match with paint and brush that I supplied. They were on time and all worked very hard always trying their best to do a very neat job. Phillip sent Mark and his crew back later to put in a french drain on the outside of my back fence to catch water coming from other property's uphill. I have never seen such a professional job as this crew did under the direction of Mark , their lead man.They covered this french drain with river pebbles, which is very attractive and will do a good job of catching the water before it comes into my yard. I am now ready to have my rotted back fence replaced ! Thank you Phillip Madden, Mark and crew for a great professional job !

It didn't work. It was a really strange deal. The guy came out here. He looked at everything and he says, "I have three options for you. I will send you an email with the options." I'm like, "Okay." He sat out in front of my house for a long time on the phone with somebody, which seemed a little odd and then, he finally left. I think he actually left after I did, that day and then, I never heard back from him. I had his phone number. So I texted him and said, "Hey, I'm just wondering about those options. Could you send them to me?" He was like, "Well, I'm at the Masters, on a long spring break vacation and I'll get to you next Tuesday," and I never heard back and I won't follow up with him. I've already put in a request with Angie's List to try to get my money back. It was the strangest deal ever. He quoted me the most expensive thing first, of course. It was way outrageous, like $4000. And then, he never gave me a dollar amount on the other two options. So the pricing was outrageous. I think he was on time, for his appointment. If not, just a few minutes late. It wasn't significant. He has not done anything he said he would.

Phlllip was able to fit us into their schedule. The crew dug a trench and installed a dual water drainage system for the downspouts and surface water. They covered it with pea gravel, which is quite attractive. They cleaned up any mess before leaving and left the area looking better than it did before they came. His crew checked back later to do some follow-up work. Both Phillip and his crew are friendly and professional. They were a pleasure to do business with. I recommend them highly <br />

It took them a day and a half to complete the job. His crew was very polite and worked hard. I was really impressed by the work they performed outside the house trenching the drains to the road. They cut the sod, dug the trench, placed the pipes, and replaced the sod. You could barely tell any work was done there. They covered everything with plastic and tape to prevent dust to travel and cleaned up everything after service. <br />

The Exterior Waterproofing representative was on time and very professional. He came out the day after my call, provide an estimate the next day and completed the work in less than a week from my first call. Workers were very professional, knowledgeable and completed the work in one day. They cleaned the area thoroughly after the job was completed and left the area in perfect condition. Of all the contractors I have used from Angie's List, Exterior waterproofing was one of the best. I highly recommend them based on my experience. <br />
