Federal Weather Strip Windows & Doors

The installation process went fine. There is a lifetime guarantee though and I have had many of the windows have problems with the weatherstripping crumbling, which they should replace for free. There are currently 4 windows with crumbling weatherstripping, making them not seal correctly. (several years ago they replaced it in several other windows that also had crumbling weatherstripping) For the last two years they will not come to my house to repair the weathering stripping. I have a life time guarantee. Both of their phones are now out of service and there is no way to reach them.

They had been a great company to work with until recently. I have a window that I purchased from them and the window seal is no longer working. The window is supposed to have a lifetime guarantee. The technician that came out agreed that it wasn't working and should be covered under a warranty. It has been over a year since they were out and they still haven't replaced the window. They have continually made promises to me to repair the window and have fallen through on all of them. I would be curious to know what is going on with their business because this is far from the kind of service I received in the past. I have been calling them with great regularity over the past year and have received no resolution to my problem.

We replaced wood windows with an almond color vinyl window and I cannot believe how much the windows improved the appearance of our home. The house looks newer and brighter. Several windows on our home had broken seals and after getting two estimates for window replacements from other companies, I was very confused and frustrated. Federal Windows was the 3rd company I called for an estimate and Garry was straight forward and honest with me and answered all my questions. The night before work was scheduled to begin, I realized I had not asked what I should do to get ready for the guys to start work the next morning. I e-mailed Garry and he told me not to worry about a thing and that the guys would take care of it. And he was true to his word. They showed up right on time, were very careful to place tarps on the floors. They were courteous, very quiet, and didn't leave a trace of dirt or mess. Other than the beautiful new windows, you would never have known they were here.

They have always been rated highly. The door is fine and everything looks great. They did all the painting for the interior window. They gave me the kind of window that I already had in the house. I had called them again because one of my windows didn?t shut all the way. They did not call me back for a month. They said they would have to order some parts. They came out again and said they would have to paint. I bought new paint for them. They said they would take care of it again. I called them a third time and they said the wrong carts had come and that they had to reorder it. I called them again after six months and now they don?t even answer my calls. I have left several messages over the years, but to no avail.

I called on Jan 2009 about a window in the kitchen whose seal had borken. They came out in early March to measure for replacement. I called again in July about a door on the porch that was leaking and water was coming in. It is April,. 2010 and so far neither has been addressed. In Nov. 2009 I was called and told that they needed to button up a few houses and it would be a couple of weeks and they would be out. No one has called again and no work has been done. I fixed the door problem by buying a new storm door that keeps the rain out, and I have replaced the glass in the window with the broken seal. So I resolved the problem, they have never responded and I got tired of calling.

They had some installers who were super people. The 2 guys who installed our windows were great. They say that they would call back when you call them and ask for information, but they never call back. That is the biggest complain I have about the company. Other than that their work was fine and they were good.

Gary impressed me very much; he let me know how he was going to treat my home before trying to sell me windows. The windows were not only what we needed, but he also explained that the installers are also important. Gary has two men who are superb installers, Mike and Brian. The installers were doing a great job and if there was a problem, I did not hear about it because they were very professional. The windows went in, caulked, and neatly finished. We bought energy efficient, triple pane windows. Our new front door looks fantastic. A month later, we called Gary and had the last two doors replaced, garage and back entry door. We wanted everything as energy efficient as the other products in our home. They have matched the vinyl around the windows and it looks better than before. People on the street do not even know we had installed new windows; they look great! We never have to paint anymore outside. Everyone loves our new front door. Timeliness, they were always at my home early. Superb workmanship and a great company to work with. I feel like I really picked a superb company!

I called and asked questions and then set up an estimate. Garry came out and walked through the house and showed me their windows. We liked the quality of the windows and called them to come back and install 11 windows. They were dependable and honest. They came when they said they would. They installed my windows during the winter and were very careful about keeping the rest of our house warm. The installers answered all of my questions and were very friendly and informative. We will call them again when we are ready to put on new siding! We received 3 other estimates and Federal had the best quality and the best price!

Was very satisfied last year. Workmanship was excellent & very nice people to deal with. Doors have locks & removable windows. Also have screens. Brochure features different models. Due to this being special order, price of course was more than regular or standard size. I am very happy with finished product. Recommend very highly.

Wonderful company!! Garry was on time to do our estimate and presented enough information about the windows. No high-pressure sales tactics. Once hired to replace our windows, they came to the house to do a final measuring. We received our windows in about 4 weeks, which is exactly the time frame they gave us. On the day of installation, Mike and Brian arrived on time (actually a few minutes early!) and discussed the installation plan. I could tell Mike and Brian care about their work. They did not rush and took the time to do things right. We are very pleased with Federal and will hopefully be able to hire them to replace the rest of our windows next year.

Outstanding! Gary is punctual and easy to work with, helping guide us to making the right decisions about moving a door and the size of windows. He was so right on! Vickie (in the office) stays in contact, always returns calls right away and helped coordinate our electrician with their crew. Mike is beyond a pro! His work is meticulous - done with pride. Even after coming for a day to measure and do an initial tear out to see "what they were getting in to," when the real work began, the hidden damage was even more than anticipated. There was no consideration to doing half a job. Federal let us know what was found, added a day of work, did the job RIGHT and honored our contracted price - never asking for additional $$$. From beginning to end, we were smiling. I trust this company so much that I gave them a key and the garage door opener and went to work.

I own a house built in 1925 that previous owners left in very poor shape. I'm in the process of remodeling it. I met with Gary, Federal's owner, and immediately liked and trusted him. We talked about what kind of windows I wanted and the price range. He demonstrated a model of the one he recommened. I agreed. We met and I signed the contract and gave him a key to the house so I wouldn't have to be there. The installers came, and measured the windows. It took a few weeks for the new windows to arrive from the manufacturer, which gave me time to clear areas of construction materials for the installers to work. Federal called on a Monday to say they wanted to begin the installation on Wednesay. By Wednesday night they had all of the windows installed except for the basement, which were by far the worst. These windows had rusted metal frame set in concrete and to make matters worse the previous owner had used foam insulation to try to keep them from leaking. They were very difficult to remove. The installers completed the job on Thursday and I couldn't be more please. They did an excellent job and the new windows are perfect.

It was a really great experience, they were very honest, they saved us money, and they cleaned up very well. The workers sent were very prompt.

The sales men was great. The prices were very reasonable. The man who came to install the door was very knowledgeable. He was also very skilled and did a great job. They showed up promptly and finished in the designated time.

Great! Garry gave me a very no-nonsense estimate and did NOT try to hard sell me on a bunch of stuff that I did not need. His employees were also wonderful. They were extremely punctual, nice, and remarkably clean. They left us with absolutely nothing to clean up. Just an effortless replacement.

Garry was very good at communicating with me about the type of work that would be done and when the windows would be in after the final measurement was taken. He even made a second trip during the estimating process to show me some pictures of work they had done on other houses. Garry was willing to make sure that I would be satisfied with the type of work they had to offer. They spent a lot of time making sure they had the right measurements and thought over how the windows would be installed. They had to install some new trim boards and they took some of my paint with them so that they could paint them ahead of time. The 2 man crew that came to install the windows were very professional. They really had a good routine down and finished the work in about 6 hours. They were very thorough in the installation and it looks GREAT!

It took awhile to get on their schedule, but they did an excellent job. The windows are beautiful, easy to open, and clean. We had one of the catches on one window break shortly after the work was completed, and they promptly came and fixed the problem. We also were not completely satisfied with how the screen door locked after they replaced the front door, and they fixed that as well.

I met with 5 companies before deciding on Mr. Garrett. He worked with our insurance co. adjusters explained many additional measurements to cover the actual size of home. Also helped to acquire a company for historical compliance to replace vinyl siding. Kenny lead crew, worked everyday, arrived early, stayed late, cleaned up (lots of old siding). I explained historical windows concern to Kenny & he worked on those himself to avoid any damage. We uncovered some columns on the porch (covered by 2 very old sidings & sorry to say the columns were destroyed by previous owner maybe 70 years ago. Beautiful redwood heart wood hacked into straight post, very sad.) Again the co for historical compliance cameinto play.....yes, they had to be rebuilt of wood exactly like the old ones. Many months later the columns were done. So Kenny came back just this past month & installed the finishing vinyl & porch ceiling. It was an old house. All the old windows were taken out and replaced. Even the trim on the inside. The job was started on time and Mr. Garrett was great at keeping us informed about the start. There were a few delays with the siding,but the company kept us informed and compensated us for the delays. We were very pleased and have even recommended them to family for a project they are considering. The workers were all very professional. They were a pleasure to have in my home working. They cleaned up any and all messes. All in all, I don't know how we could have been happier with their work.

I thought the workers were extremely professional. They always were here when they said they were going to come and they did what they said they were going to do. They moved at a good pace and did high quality work. Overall it was a very good experience.

Fabulous experience! I interviewed 5 window companies, shared with them my goals and budget, and waited for their suggestions. Garry was my number one pick by far: he worked with me, within my budget, and addressed all of the goals I presented. The result? Functional and aesthetically pleasing windows (two-toned vinyl which matched inside and out), and a brilliant dog door solution which I can literally take with me if I ever move! Garry, the salesman, was good about staying in touch via phone and email until we agreed on price and style; Mike and Brian (installers with about 37 years of installation experience between them) were prompt (early, actually!), meticulous, hardworking and exceptionally skillful. It was a work of art watching them transform my home!
