Brett Bean founded F.E. Moran Alarm in 2003 with the belief that we could build a company unlike any other in the electronic security industry, a company that is relationship driven and provides superior customer service, quality installations and state-of-the-art monitoring. We are proud of our UL Listed, FM Approved and Five Diamond Certified Central Monitoring Station. The United States has around 3,000 central stations, of which only 115 have received the Five Diamond Certification.

When we first had our system installed it was a local (Indianapolis) company called Myers Security on 3/6/2012. Everything went great with them and they sold out/merged to Illinois based FE Moran. Everything seemed fine until 2016 rolled around. They started calling us and telling us that 2G service by ATT was being phased out and we could lose service "at any time". We said okay, what needs to be done. They wanted around $200 from us for a new chip and we would have to sign a new 3 year contract in order to be able to secure our connection to their service. We found this unacceptable and ignored several more calls. The last call we got we told the not to call back unless they will replace the chip for free and agree to keep us as customers without the condition of a new contract. The phone went silent and we ended up having to hang up without a response. I called the customer service number on one of the many mailings I received from them and got a message that no representatives were available and to leave a message. IF you cannot hire enough people to watch your customer lines then that is a bad sign. Then I called a major competitor who gave an offer with a slightly higher rate (few dollars a month), $1600 worth of equipment, re certifying my current equipment where possible, Installation $99, but will receive a $100 visa gift card, two remotes, oh and most importantly a free cell chip to be placed in a nice new control module. So, then I attempted to call the Moran customer service number again (2PM) and once again got "please leave a message". The way they have handled this entire issue has lead me to find a different provider with a good deal that will give me new equipment with a 3 year contract rather than expect me to give them money and sign a new contract just to get a chip. Their poor skills at customer retention and customer service have caused us to go elsewhere. If this is how they treat customers of 4 years, then I want nothing to do with them. I want nothing out of FE Moran other than a prorated refund of monitoring fees once I cancel.

They were on time to install, installation went quickly and they showed how the system operates before leaving. Price was good for what the system came with and monthly monitoring wasn't overly pricey. <br />

<p> </p> <p>This is an update of a review I wrote in September 2015. I?ve been a customer of FE Moran several years after Meyer?s security sold out to them. I use their service every day and I?ve always found them to be responsive to alarms. I've been a very happy customer for years and have recommended their service to friends and co-workers. I was notified by mail that my GSM which had been in service for quite a while was becoming obsolete and needed to be upgraded to accommodate the faster 3G/4G cellular technologies. I spoke with an agent that was handling the transition for the customers that were impacted by the upgrade. Unfortunately that conversation didn't end well and I felt like I was being shown the door, hence this review on Angie?s List. Luckily it was a misunderstanding caused by improper training. Long story short, I simply wanted to buy a new GSM and have it installed but I was told I had to sign another 3 year contract. One of the heads of the corporation contacted me and we spoke on the phone about the issues I was having. He was very gracious and easy to talk to. He acknowledged that I was one of the first to go through the upgrade procedure and there were details that hadn't been ironed out. He thanked me for my feedback and assured me that he's working to make the upgrade a better experience for his customers that have the 2G cellular communicators. After talking with him I felt comfortable staying with FE Moran, my GSM is scheduled to be upgraded and I'll most likely be a customer for many years to come. </p> <p> </p>

First, let me just start by saying that the service technician that came to my home was very professional and easy to work with. My concern is not with them. <br /> However, I found that since I originally contracted with FE Moran, it seems that they either moved or removed their local office. Now I'm starting to wonder if they ever had an office locally- but their sales guy sure was easy to get a hold of! Getting a hold of someone in customer service is hit or miss. I can get a hold of SOMEONE at any point in time. However, even during their business hours, the customer service department (possibly only one or 2 people strong) sometimes is too busy to handle calls, so calls get routed to their "control" department- You know, the department that handles emergency/distress alarms. If my calls go to this department, a message gets sent and I may or may not get a call. It bothers me that I don't have someone local to be able to call for simple customer service issues and have to bother people that I think shouldn't have to worry about anything other than handling emergency situations. But I digress... <br /> My original concern started with getting a hold of someone to find out how I could get a glass break sensor removed until construction in our basement was finished. Getting a hold of customer service during business hours (instead of their control department) was near impossible. Eventually, I got a hold of someone and was told that when we were closer in construction to do that, it would be a matter of having someone walk me through it over the phone (because otherwise, I'd be charged a service call fee). The day came to do this and I was told by someone else that they REQUIRED a technician to do this for us because it was a safety and liability issue. How? It is a wireless system. It uses batteries and it was screwed into the frame! Nevertheless, I scheduled a day. The day came and no one came. I called to confirm the day only to find that the date was a different date all together. Maybe I wrote the date wrong. Maybe not. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The second date came. The technician came and removed it. I got charged for 30 minutes worth of labor instead of labor PLUS the service call fee- which is something. <br /> I originally paid for several months in advance, so I just started getting bills two to three months ago. I have found that checks I mail with plenty of time to process are not "received" timely, let alone credited to my account or even cashed right away. This is distressing because I try to pay my bills well in advance and balance my account. The last time, I simply made an additional payment over the phone. This time, I called a week after having mailed it only to be told that they haven't received it and the only alternative would be to pay with a credit card. Seriously? I asked if there was another address to mail my payments to so that I can ensure my payments are processed timely. I was told that the address I used was the only one that handles payments. I wouldn't be so upset about this if either time I called to inquire about the status of my payments, the people I spoke to wouldn't have taken my concern so lightly. I made the effort to pay the entire amount due timely, so I expect to have my payment processed timely too! I've mailed stuff to Puerto Rico and and Canada and had it received/ processed faster than this company seems to! <br /> <br />
