Everything was unbelievably like clockwork. The team was entertaining and very good to work with. What a wonderful experience! We’ve had some questionable contractor contacts lately, so we were a bit gun-shy. Thanks for proving there are still reputable people in the biz. You came highly recommended and we will continue that trend. Thanks again

Andy was very professional. Before he started he laid down cloths to keep everything clean. He did a thorough cleaning job and made sure it ran well. I don't remember what I paid. But I think it was between $100 and $200. Since the insert is more than 25 years old, the cost was well worth it!

The salesmen were extremely helpful. In fact, all of them were as they came back more than once in order to teach me how to operate the remote. They were very willing to take the time in order to explain it to us again. We had two workers here, one to install and another to do the safety check and they were excellent.

I love the fireplace that they installed. They are very professional and they are very warm with the customers. They did a very good job with the installation. They taught me how to use the system and they even referred me to an interior decorator.

I enlisted Fireside in Eden Prairie to convert my fireplace from wood to gas. The guy who put in my new fireplace first of all put a dirty cloth on the floor which got my carpet dirty. He also got black ash on the floor taking out the old fireplace because he was not careful doing it. I brought up the carpet issue several times to Fireside but they never did clean the carpet. The young guy that installed the new gas fireplace apparently did not know what he was doing. First of all he did not put any insulation around the new insert so very cold air poured in. He also did not tighten things up and I had a big gas leak after he left. The fireplace also had a terrible smell to it. To make a long story short I had them out six times to resolve the problems which never were resolved except for the gas leak. They kept telling me to run my fireplace for 8 hours at a time and that smell would go away. I did that many times and the smell never did go away. It also gave me headaches and made my eyes burn plus you could see a blueish haze hanging in the air. I finally gave up on them and never used the fireplace because it was literally unuseable. Four years later I was at the State Fair and noticed that Fireside had a booth in one of the buildings and it was staffed by a woman. I thought she might listen to me so I went in and told her my tale of woe. She was appalled and said that the national troubleshooter would be in town the following week and she would have him come over. This man did come over, tore the entire fireplace apart, found some defective parts and agreed that I had a bad smell. He replaced several parts plus he gave me an upgraded fireplace. He was very apologetic for everything that had taken place. It is now about two years later. The fireplace is a lot better than it was but I still cannot leave it on for very long because it still has an odor that bothers me but nowhere as bad as it used to be. I have asthma so I may be a bit more sensitive to smells but something still does not seem right with this fireplace. I can use it but only for short periods of time. My whole experience with the exception of the woman at the state fair and the national roubleshooter was a total disaster. My first clue should have been when I went into Fireside in Eden Prairie and went up to the desk. The salesman there glanced at me and then continued doing what he was doing and I got the impression he was trying to ignore me. I stood there and then kind of sarcastically asked him if this was a bad time for me to be there and he then finally paid attention to me. I'm a small older women and maybe he thought I wasn't a viable customer. He at least was not very interested in helping me.
From start to finish, we had a good experience with Fireside Hearth and Home. The store sales staff: very knowledgeable -- they had good information and suggestions but let us make the final decisions without pressure. The installers: neat, courteous, and very accurate -- an especially welcome skill as they made holes in our wall to vent the stove pipe out and run the gas line in. The scheduler: a true gem -- she cheerfully juggled staff to guarantee our established start-up date.
This is the second purchase we've made at the Eden Prairie store (we had a corner fireplace installed in our upper level 15 years ago), and we would not hesitate to go there again if we ever want a similar type product installed.
I was very pleased with my salesman at the Eden Prairie store. I felt that he really listened to my needs and understood what I was trying to accomplish with the new fireplace design. He was patient with me, providing an additional estimate for a different fireplace unit than my first choice and broke out the estimate into the various components. I ended up hiring a different provider to tear out the old traditional hearth and fireplace surround, so all Fireside had to do was to lift out the old fireplace unit and install the new one. They worked collaboratively with me to determine the placement I wanted to fit best with the new wall tiles I intended to use. They worked swiftly and got the inspections for gas and electric set up for the following day and the final start-up scheduled several days earlier than I had originally planned. I was very disappointed that the installers used 1/2" drywall to patch in around the new fireplace although the drywall they were patching into was 5/8". When I brought this discrepancy to their attention, they tried to explain to me why they had used the wrong product and tried to convince me how I could work around it for the tiles I would install. In the time they spent trying to justify their choice, they could have driven to the building supply store 6 miles from my home and purchased the right product to use. It seemed to me they were just lazy and not intent on providing a quality job when they realized they didn't have the right drywall on the truck. They also cut / tore / somehow disconnected my TV cable, requiring a service call from the cable provider. When I addressed my disappointment with the sales manager, he worked very swiftly and efficiently to get the installation corrected and deducted the expense for the cable repair from my final bill. The scheduler, however, was not at all collaborative when she called to schedule them to return and repair their mistake -- in fact she was quite rude. We did get them rescheduled within the same week, while I was out of work; they arrived late and did a poor job of patching in thereplacement 5/8" drywall, leaving me significant gaps to have to fill and patch before I could install my tile. The final start-up appointment was an absolute joy and now that the fireplace and tile are installed, I am pleased with the final product.

The experience was hassle free. They helped us with the stones and designs. I asked them to finish the work in a specific amount of time and they were able to do it. They were always on time, extremely easy to work with and very responsive. They were also very flexible and the workers were fabulous. The price was also very fair.

Saw the display at the State Fair and loved the product and ordered at Eden Prairie store. To get the door I wanted, I was told I had to have an oversized (ugly) surround that would stick up 5" above the decorative door, so opted for a different door. Turns out, I could have had the door I wanted with a normal sized surround that would have just been barely higher than the decorative door. I "like" my second choice door, but "loved" my first choice door that I could have had. The gas line couldn't be run through my bsmt, so had to wrap around the entire length of house. The guys that were to run the gas line wanted to run the line half way up my two-story house (UGLY!), so glad I was home to discuss and had them step it down to behind my shrubs, then up the side of a window frame and then under the siding under the deck - MUCH better option! Gas fireplace install went fine, except fan was bent, so required a second trip. Then, scheduled city inspection and then another appt. with Fireside to get it started up. The whole process takes a few wks, so keep that in mind. I absolutely *love* the fireplace and use it regularly. However, after three months of use, the remote unit inside the fireplace box started beeping intermittently. I called Fireside and they told me to change the batteries in my remote. I did, but a couple wks later, the fireplace box remote unit started beeping intermittently again. I called again and they told me that there might be some interference from other remotes and to reset the unit and that I could find the instructions on how to do it in the manual. Since the beeping was intermittent, I just left it. Then, one Sunday, the fireplace just turned on by itself - the handheld remote unit said "off". I was home alone, so no one else turned it on. A couple days later, I turned it on and set the timer, but when the time ran out, the fireplace continued to run even though the remote said "off". I called Fireside and they told me that maybe a neighbor's garage remote is triggering it. I said, for $4600, this is unacceptable, so they finally gave me the service phone number. When I called service dept and explained the situation, Elsie, told me that they could make a service call, but if the problem was caused by me then there would be a $90 charge. I said, how could it be caused by me? She said, if you reprogrammed it (as they suggested I do when I called the first time). I said, I haven't touched it and that I have no intention of paying $90 for them to repair a defective 3-mo-old $4600 fireplace. They sent out a repairman and he looked at the remote and said it was manufactured in 2007 and that they had problems with those, so he replaced it and so far, I haven't had any problems. I love the fireplace, but not the customer service - really bad! The installers and repairman were all prompt, polite and professional, so I am happy with that aspect, just not the after-sale customer svc.

ARRIVED ON TIME EVEN THOUGH THERE A MARCH SNOWSTORM; DID WORK; EVEN THOUGH THE WOOD BURNING INSERT BARELY FIT, THEY SPENT THE TIME TO GET THIS INSTALLED CORRECTLY. RECEIVED SEVERAL, GOOD REBATES THAT REDUCED THE INSTALLATION COST. ALTHOUGH THEY DID NOT CHECK FOR THE REQUIRED FRESH AIR INTAKE, THEY CAME BACK TO INSTALL IT AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE (THE CITY INSPECTOR REQUIRED THIS). THEY HAD MISTAKENLY ASSUMED THAT ANOTHER VENT WAS THE FRESH AIR INTAKE.

OUR TECHNICIAN, ANDY WAS VERY POLITE AND THOROUGH. HE TOOK THE TIME TO EDUCATE ME (THE HOME'S NEW OWNER) ON THE CARE AND USE OF OUR GAS FIREPLACE. HE DEMONSTRATED THE ADJUSTABLE FLAME HEIGHT AND FAN SPEED AS WELL AS HOW TO SAFELY RELIGHT THE PILOT LIGHT. HE ALSO RECOMMENDED HAVING THE ANNUAL SERVICE DONE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS FOR A 20% DISCOUNT ON THE $99 FEE. IT WAS A VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. WE WILL DEFINITELY CONTINUE TO HAVE FIRESIDE HEARTH & HOME SERVICE OUR GAS FIREPLACE. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT MELANIE CALLED BACK WITHIN A FEW HOURS OF MY INITIAL CALL TO SET UP THE APPOINTMENT. VERY COURTEOUS.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS VERY GOOD. SALESMAN COULD DO A BETTER JOB EXPLAINING THE OPTIONS. THE PERSON WHO DID THE PREINSTALLATION CHECK WAS VERY HELPFUL AND GAVE ME SEVERAL IDEAS FOR DOING THE BASEMENT FLOORPLAN ABOVE AND BEYOND THE FIREPLACE LOCATION ITSELF. INSTALLERS DID A GOOD JOB AND CAME BACK NO PROBLEM WHEN I REPORTED A PROBLEM WITH THE FAN. THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION ON WHAT SIZE WIRING SHOULD BE INSTALLED FOR THE WALL-MOUNTED MULTI-FUNCTION REMOTE CONTROL. CORRECT ANSWER: GET THE SPECIFIC CABLE THAT COMES WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL UNIT ITSELF. THIS COMPANY IS ALREADY LISTED UNDER THE OLD NAME (FIRESIDE CORNER) BUT HAD NO REPORTS UNDER THAT NAME.
