I’m incredibly upset as I write this, but feel compelled to be sure that nobody else experiences what we have with Jess and First Choice Construction. She took $20,000 as a down payment for our basement remodel and has been unreliable from the first week. She always provides a compelling excuse for her absence or lack of communication. If you value your timeline and dependability I would recommend looking for another contractor. After our project was a month past the agreed upon due date, we had gone two weeks without any work occurring and Jess had personally failed to appear for two scheduled appointments with us. At that point we decided to terminate our professional agreement with her. She has failed to provide us with even a partial refund of our $20,000 deposit, despite only partial work having been done in our space. Two estimates from other contractors value the work done as around $2,000-$3,000 worth. Now it appears we will have to begin legal proceedings to recoup any of our money. Aside from some work completed by subcontractors, in the two months we've been contracted with Jess, all that has been completed was demolition and removal of waste and partial completion of framing for a closet. Our original quoted timeline was three weeks. Please trust me and look elsewhere.

My husband and I hired this business to take down a load bearing wall, and do a few other small projects. We put down half before the job started. They were going to drop off a trailer at my house so we could take all the dry wall out, so it would be ready for them to work. Then the excuses started pouring in. Either about car troubles, problems with the trailer or a medical issue(twice) this went on for two weeks. Every single day they were supposed to show up to my house they either had an excuse or just did not respond until the fallowing day. The last excuse we wanted some proof, and then never heard from them again. Please save your time and money and go through a business who cares about you. It will save you a lot of stress.

"Hi [Member Name Removed], I'd like to correct you on a few things. First and foremost you did NOT hire me. I have no signed contract with you or your husband. You had to have your father in law contract me to do your job, because you couldn't pay for the service yourself. Second, as apauled as I felt I did most definitely send him a picture of my broken tooth. I never heard back from him. I came into your home, saw the state of it and met with your "father in law", I was never introduced to you at the initial appointment, and I gave one amazing deal with a discount because I am a business who likes to help others and go the extra mile if I'm able to because I have had struggles in life financially myself. I drove to Ohio in a snow storm to meet your father in law and get your job going. I'm sorry but I refuse to accept your review. If you would like your job to be completed please have your father in law contact me back. I can't really show up to work if I can't get contacted back. Thank you Jess"

The service did not go well. Jessica was very responsive up until she got the deposit. After that she keeps on giving me reasons and leads her not to come out. It leads me starting the job by my self , she was supposed to come last Monday (on the 22nd) but she didn't showed up. For the period of week she keeps on giving me reasons and didn't showed.

I gave you a huge discount and prior to my coming out you had threatened me that you were going to put bad reviews all over during the time that I had to have my surgery. You made me feel like I was not going to be paid. Then when I had explained I needed one more day due to my tooth being broke you had asked for a picture for "proof". As apauled as I felt, I sent you the picture of my tooth to prove I needed to get it taken care of. you never responded. I'm sorry but I am giving you an F rating as a customer. Thank you..."

It was excellent. They were very treatable and did it in a timely manner. I would recommend them to other people.
