First Class Landscaping

I contracted with First Class Landscaping to change my front yard to Xeriscape to reduce watering consumption. The project started in January 2023 and was completed within a few days. I noticed the drip system that was installed did not appear to provide enough water for the new tree that was planted. Eric, the owner, came by and said he thought the flow was adequate. This is a second home, and I am only at this home a few times a year. I returned to the home in April 2023. The tree was dead. Eric came and looked at the tree and said he would replace it. My next visit was in October. Nothing had been done. I reached out to Eric, and he said he was no longer involved with the company and referred me to Ryan who had purchased Eric’s interest in the business. I called the number provided and the receptionist (who I later learned was Ryan’s wife) was extremely friendly and professional. I explained the situation to her, and she had Ryan come to my home the next morning. He agreed the drip system was not adequate and said he would replace the tree, fix the drip system, and replace some other existing plants which had died from lack of water. Due to his current commitments, he said it would take a couple of weeks to take care of the problems. When he did not return, I called the business and talked to his wife. She said she was out of the office but would call me and give me a schedule when she returned. I never heard from her again. I called back three times with no answer. I assumed they had caller identification and ignored my calls. I sent a text to Ryan’s number. No response. I sent a message to him on the company’s website. No response. From the first response I received, I would have given the company a very high rating. It is now January 2024, and I have returned to the home again. Nothing has been done. The job cost was over $11,000. I will now need to pay someone to fix the problems. First Class will not take care of the problems caused by poor workmanship. I cannot recommend this company. It appears from the reviews, if you have a problem with their work, you may be left on your own to fix them.

Eric the owner, said he knew someone in Mesquite who could get us some very good Joshua Trees. When the trees arrived they looked horrible. He said there in shock don’t worry about them. After a year, all 5 are dead, look at the photos. We ran into one of his ex-coworkers about this and he had these trees sitting around in a lot. If this is true, we got lied too and he took us for $3,200 dollars. $800 a tree. Another contractor taking advantage of the elderly.

First Class Landscaping in St George, Utah built a waterfall and it wasn't what I asked the boss for, I asked for lots of medium to large size decorative rocks with black being primary color. I got 3 large boulders I never asked for & I was charged extra for a waterfall I never asked for. The rock on the ground turned out to be different than what I explained to the boss I wanted, I told him colored, decorative rock black being primary color I got gravel when I told worker he brought in some black rock & sprinkled the ground with it not to mention I was charge extra on my b I d amount for black rock. I told them no gravel in the pool area for I can't set up the pool on gravel I already had sand there I had purchased the beginning of this summer. But they laid rock on top of the sand so when they removed the gravel away they took a lot of the sand with it . Now I will be paying more for sand next summer. The workers also left a large amount of gravel in the swimming pool area. I will have to have this removed next summer. The waterfall had issues from the beginning. The water just trickled rather then falling and the on/off valve is so hard to turn I can't turn it, so I have to plug or unplug water fall at electrical recipacal. They were to install weed fabric to the front yard & add additional colored rock (like the backyard) again I got gravel & was charged for netting, gravel & black rock in addition to it being in the bid price. I felt this project I had looked forward to for so long was a fight all the way. When the boss returned home after a dozen call/messages of me wanting him to stop by & look, & him not returning any of my calls, I contacted Angi's list & only then did he returned my call. The boss came & Iooked at the job & didn't seem at all surprised at the way things turned out concidering what we had discussed which was so much different then the way things looked. I felt by the time he left he had talked me into "everything's okay nothing was that bad". I agreed to that but after he was gone I also realized it was not what I asked for. I was left wondering if he had listened to what I had said. I want him to do the yard the way I asked & refund me the extras I was charges, which weren't extras they were part of the original bid we agreed on with no extra charges for things that weren't done right the first time. I just feel sick & taken advantage of. This whole mess was wrong from the beginning

We would absolutely hire these guys again. They went over and beyond what we asked for. We had a vision of what we wanted and they really came through for us. We wanted something more soft and colorful in our backyard near the pool rather than the typical desert landscaping so popular here. They completely dug up our entire backyard, laid sod down, added a water feature, stepping stones, beautiful plants and steps up our slope. Wow! Great job guys! I want you back just to hear your friendly, funny chatter!

We will recommend them. They worked had. They worked competent. They did counsel when we needed it. They did our desire and what we want. They were great.

It was good. They did the job great. They were friendly and competent. They were flexible.

It was very good. They came everyday. They did what they said they were gonna do. They changed a couple of thins and it actually turned out for the better. It looked great. It was done perfectly.

I have nothing but positive things to say about our landscaping experience with First Class. They show up on time, respond promptly, work hard, work with you and work well as a team. Pricing was also very transparent. I know exactly what I paid for. No regrets.

It went quite well but we weren't completely happy with the final product as the gaps between the stones were slightly wider that we expected. When I called and let the owner know about this, he came out and reviewed the job with me. We decided to replace the chat (grout) between the stones with red chat that matched the stones. He completed this at no charge and it looks great! Very happy with the work and 'make the customer happy' attitude.
