Inspection - General (Building Inspector) - For Business
We hired Flinn Inspection during our home buying process and paid $650 for what we believed would be a thorough inspection. Unfortunately, this inspection failed to identify multiple major defects that should have been obvious and were later confirmed by licensed professionals.
Significant issues that were missed or not inspected at all include:
? Improperly installed insulation throughout the home
? Active roof leaks in the knee wall attic
? Mold growth, later confirmed by laboratory testing and multiple mold remediation companies
? Bathroom ventilation venting directly into the attic, not to the exterior (not up to code)
? Two knee wall attic spaces were never inspected at all
?. The bathtub and shower exposed to the knee wall attic.
Many of these conditions are not up to code and directly contributed to moisture intrusion and mold. We now have documentation from mold professionals, insulation companies, remodeling contractors, and roofers, all confirming these defects and dating

Inspector went to the home early from when we agreed to meet and when we got there said he was almost done with the inspection, would have liked to go through the house with him. After living in the home for a year and a half realized there were things missed that I wish he would have caught during the inspection. Polite and answered questions but not happy with him starting without us when we agreed to meet at a certain time and not happy with quality of inspection. <br />

As a first-time home buyer, I knew I needed to hire an experienced and knowledgeable home inspector. Cameron came out to my almost 90 year old house in Clintonville and spent three and a half hours with me. Being a newbie homebuyer, I peppered him with a million questions which he answered with patience and understanding. All inspectors at Flinn Inspection Group have experience in the construction industry, so Cameron's inspection and advice were all extremely thorough. He cautioned me against refinishing the floors myself, as they were somewhat thin and perhaps would not tolerate an aggressive sanding. He showed me where past repairs had been done on the house and whether they were done to code AND repaired well. He even advised me on possible improvements to increase the value of the house. At the time I called, they were offering a free thermographic survey, so I asked for it. Cameron brought an infrared camera and cranked up the heat in the house. We were able to see how well the furnace pushed heat through all the vents and even cold spots in the walls with thin insulation. The next day, I received a 22 page inspection report, complete with photos and a list of priority repairs, improvements, and maintenance. <br /> Like I said, this was my first time buying a house and hiring a home inspector, but if you are looking for an inspector with experience that will be thorough and find all the little things, Call Flinn Inspection Group. <br />

The worker came on time & got to work right away.He was friendly,pleasant & was willing to answer all my questions.The inspection was for a house I am in contract to purchase.He was very thorough & checked the house top to bottom,front to back,left to right.He was able to find all the major & minor things wrong which helped tremendously with my negotiations with my purchase.I would definitely reuse them & recommend them to others. <br />

<p>From start to finish, everyone associated with Flinn Inspection Group was positive and professional. This includes the initial contact with Christian, scheduling done by Regan, and the actual inspection done by Cameron.</p> <p>The 20 page report generated by Cameron was thorough and well organized. The inspector's observations were supported by color photos. Recommendations were carefully broken down into safety issues, necessary repairs, desirable improvements and items to monitor. Very helpful information for any homeowner; vital information for the homebuyer. Top notch work in terms of both presentation and substance. </p> <p>I should mention that I'm a realtor, and booked this inspection on behalf of a client. Both my client and I were very pleased with the inspection. Cameron arrived early and was prepared to start the inspection as soon as we arrived. He was courteous and professional. He was knowledgeable about every area in our home and was able to answer our many questions. I initially contact Flinn (christian) several months ago and inquired about costs for inspection services. We had submitted an offer on a home and it did not go through. The other offer fell through and we entered into contract on the house on Saturday. I emailed Christian Sunday morning and he responded almost immediately. Timing was critical as closing was scheduled to be quite soon. Christian rearranged his schedule to accommodate a Monday morning inspection. Cameron arranged access and arrived onsite, He performed a thorough inspection and when we arrived explained key items of concern. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He counseled us on the issues and suggested that certain specialties should be contacted (e.g., electrician). They promised the inspection report within 24 hours and we had it electronically first thing the next morning. The report was VERY VERY detailed and explained the issue and as appropriate, the remedy needed. The report included an executive summary and then a detailed description and photos illustrating the problem. Extremely professional. Well done and thank you for your responsiveness, reasonable price and quality deliverable. <br />

First, Christian (I believe the owner) responded promptly but was in the midst of airport travel so he deferred me to his "office". His office (Dana) was quick to respond and was able to "squeeze" in a home inspection before the week's end. Cameron was the home inspector and he was thorough, professional and very helpful in all his explanations. He arrived before I even got there, and I was <em>early</em>! HIs report was fantastic, included pictures and categorized faults as "important" vs. "eventually needs addressed" vs. "in the future maintenance". We actually got the report within 24hours of the inspection via email. I would absolutely recommend this company. He was very professional and thorough. I was completely satisfied with his inspection. When it came to fixing the issues with the house I went straight off his report. luMy husband had contacted Flinn HI Gp - along with two other companies - from Angie's List, one of which we'd used previously. <br /> Christian responded the same day. The company we'd used before never responded so Christian's promptness was appreciated, as we are under a tight timeline. <br /> Just as other customers have described, Christian explained what he was going to do. We'd been through a few home inspections before so I think he was 'ok' w/us not following him around initially. <br /> His associate, Cameron, was with him so it took less time that we originally thought but they were - as it's been described by others - very thorough. I was very pleased with the inspection. I had a week's time to get this done and he called back immediately and was able to schedule it. One positive thing that he did was that he set up the radon test beforehand so that it was done by the time he finished the home inspection. His inspection was very thorough, and he included the name of the appliances that were staying as well as the brand of the appliance so we could get the manuals for those appliances. I was happy with the pictures and the different descriptions for the categories he used. I would definitely use them again. He had the report emailed to me within 12 hours, including the radon and termite testing.

Upon arriving at the home to do the inspection, Christian introduced himself and gave us an overview of what he would do and cover. Then, he invited us to follow along and ask any questions that we might have. He used various tools and equipment as he went around the home, testing everything and he took pictures that were later included in the report. <br /> When all was said and done, he sent us the report via email within 24 hours. Christian was very down to earth, yet professional. He was easy to talk to and we never felt like any of our questions were "dumb". I would recommend this company to anyone needing a pre-purchase home inspection on short notice. <br />

Christian was great. He was very thorough, answered all of our questions, and took plenty of pictures. He also took the time to show us how everything worked in the home (for example, how to turn off the gas). He was also available after the fact for follow up questions. <br />

Very professional and personable. Followed up before appointment with fee and date/time. Punctual-Was there waiting when I got there. Very through and took time to show me "issues" and where gas/water cut offs and other important home features. **had to bring young son was very patient/tolerant** Would refer to family&friends.
