Hardwood floor installed in my house by the company on 02/12/2014 is currently damaged (warped), because the installers violated multiple manufacturer's installation requirements:

1. Manufacturer requires Solid Hardwood products acclimate for 72 hours prior to installation. Floor Covering Center kept it only for 24 hours prior to the installation.

2. Manufacturer requires the installers to leave the expansion space along the perimeter of the room. For 3/4 '" hardwood it should be 3/4 " gap. Floor Covering Center installers did not leave any gap along all perimeter.

As the result of the listed violations when the room humidity increased in spring, all the floor became warped.

I contacted the floor manufacturer Mohawk Flooring over the phone and they have stated, that the problem should be resolved by the installers. I wrote the first letter to the Floor Covering Center on 08/31/2014. They called me and stated that the independent third party should perform the floor inspection.

This inspection took place on 09/29/2014. The inspection results were submitted to the Floor Covering Center.

Since this date the company refused to submit me a copy of the inspection report and remedy the problem. I understand, that they hope that in a couple of months the lowered air humidity will partially remedy the problem, but it certainly will reappear again in spring, when the installers 12 months warranty will expire.

Two nice men showed up on time at 10:30 am. While most of the family room furniture were already in the living room, the 2 men carried 3 heavy items to the living room from the family room. Then they removed and disposed both the old carpet and pad from the family room. One man did most of the installing in the family room while the other man did the stretching the old carpet in an upstairs bedroom as agreed at the time of my purchase which was an extra $50.00. Cleaning up and vacuuming in the 19x12 family room were included so the entire installation job took only 1 1/2 hours. While I am still OK with the new carpeting, I did not expect to see the footprints, shadows, and vacuum marks as my old carpeting doesn't show those marks. However, the new carpeting does feel soft, nice and comfortable, and my husband said that he found a lot easier to move the heavy leather sofa on the new carpeting. Guess I would need to look for a carpet rake to eliminate those marks. As for the stretching in an upstairs bedroom, to my dismay, a part of the bump on the old carpeting came up again a week later. The salesperson had told me that the stretching was to be closer to the wall where there was a door while the stretching guy said it was to be the opposite wall with no door. Did not want to mess up the line between the hallway and the bedroom. Have not yet called the store to request another stretching in that bedroom.
We've used the Floor Covering Center for years. We mostly used the Germantown location, but due to economy they shut that store down; so we used the Rockville location. We've known the owner for years. When it comes to them coming to your home to give an estimate and installing the carpet they're great. We replaced ours due to moving out-of-state. I would recommend them just for their carpet installation, but now I would not. We asked for their guy to come back and fix the wood threshold where the carpet ends and tile starts. Mansour promises to call back, he doesn't. He tells us his "wood" contractor will be by either this day or that. We ask for confirmation, don't get it; then we have to call. Last night there was another excuse and not sure anymore if it's made up or not. We told him nevermind, that we are calling Coleman-Laurienzo to fix it and we won't be referring him anymore. He basically just told us ok. How UNPROFESSIONAL! DO NOT USE this company. They did much better when they had their former partner running the Germantown store. If this store stays open past the next 2 years, I will be amazed. That is why I had to give an overall rating of lousy.
Sales was exceptional. They pointed us to a better value in a wood product but still a nationally known name.
Installation was at our convenience and completed in one day with an efficient crew.
Sales rep came to our home with samples covering the color array that we were interested in. Did not bring colors we were not interested in. That saved us time. Price was well below the big chain stores.
It could not have gone better! The work was performed quickly and efficiently and the (inevitable) unplanned bits were handled smoothly and co-operatively. I have to say that I have never seen two people work so long and hard! They protected everything to the best of their ability but of course there was some dust on the walls. To be honest I thought the whole process was going to be much much worse. the worst bit was moving the furniture in advance, which I had elected to do. Way to go Angel and team!
This is the second time we have used the Floor Covering Center and they have done an excellent job both times. The first time was to refinish our hardwood floors so we could put our house on the market. This time, we needed floor created in the middle of existing floor and all of it to relatively match. For not very much money, they did a superb job - you can't tell where the floor was patched at all! Like last time, they were easy to schedule, the price was very affordable, they were punctual and the work was excellent!
I previously had purchased wall-to-wall from the Floor Covering Center for the main level floor and three flights of stairs/landings in my home. Ahmad, in the Rockville store, had helped me with that purchase approximately 10 years ago. I was so pleased that I then recommended Ahmad/Floor Covering Center to a close friend who also purchased carpeting and ceramic tile flooring with Ahmad's help. Ten years later, the wall-to-wall still looked nearly new, but the bedroom level carpeting, the original carpeting installed in 1983, showed every minute of its 30 years. Also, there was a bleach incident on the stairs near the bedroom level which needed repair. With a remnant piece of the carpeting bought in 2003, I went to the Floor Covering Center. There was Ahmad, who gave me the bad news that the carpet I bought previously was no longer manufactured, and the good news that Mohawk was making a better carpet that was very similar in appearance. I found a color that matched pretty closely, and ordered carpeting for the upstairs master bedroom. The price was very reasonable. I then decided to add to the order and have Ahmad measure the main floor area to replace the sheet vinyl in the kitchen and the 10 yo carpet in the dining room with hardwood. I asked Ahmad if he could re-use the dining room carpet in the smallest bedroom and closet. He agreed and also suggested and pointed out items to consider, recommending that the baseboards be replaced. The price was within my budget so the flooring was ordered. A few days later I called Ahmad and asked him how much would it cost to change the order if the entire main floor was redone with hardwood and new baseboards. He re-calculated the cost and then added in new carpet for the second bedroom into the whole deal. This additional change increased the overall price by only a third, but it effectively provided new flooring for two levels of my home, instead of four rooms, now six rooms, hall and some steps would be redone.
The workmen came on time. A carpet crew and a wood floor crew worked simultaneously and quickly, beginning around 9 a.m. The carpet crew was done by 2 p.m. or so. Before cutting the living room carpet, they asked how much I wanted to keep, if any. They cut so as to provide enough carpeting to bind off into area rugs. The wood flooring crew cut all pieces on site and were finished-- including baseboards, before 5 p.m. Both crews were respectful in my home, used the designated bathroom, kept me informed of progress and asked me questions to make sure I was satisfied. Each crew cleaned up and vacuumed after themselves inside and outside (where they ended up setting up a cutting area-- in 90+ degree heat). They also returned the few pieces of furniture that were moved back to where I asked them to be replaced.
I would use The Floor Covering Center again and would recommend them to any friends looking to spruce up their flooring.
I would definitely recommend the Floor Covering Center. We worked with Mansour at their Rockville location. His expertise made our selection process easy. His crew was professional, fast, and neat. I shopped many carpet stores in the area and walked out of most of them very quickly. I have already given Mansour's name to two of my friends. We are very pleased with their work, prices and followup.

Mr. Zia was our sales representative at the Germantown store. He was extremely helpful, and very knowledgeable about the carpeting options. He was prompt in getting back to us via phone if we needed additional information. The installation was done in a very thorough and neat manner. The two men arrived on time, and worked throughout the day very diligently. They also thoroughly cleaned-up after they had finished. I would definitely go back to Floor Covering Center in the future.
They re-carpeted our three thousand square foot area completely. They were perfect in every way. They also helped with the selection of the carpet available in good colors and even better made of renewable material instead of using oil based food stocks. That was a real satisfaction for us.

Why do carpet people not believe you should compete them against each other? They are the only business that I *HATE* dealing with. The owner Mansour was very responsive at first, but the moment he found out that we were making him compete he became beligerent. We ultimately used their company and thankfully the install crew was very nice (this is why I gave them a "D"). When we signed the contract, we clearly indicated that we wanted to validate that the carpet installed is the carpet on the contract. As a nubie, all I've learned is that many carpets are not labled on the back. So the installer could put down anything. All you would know is the color is right and it *feels* better. On the day of the install, they didn't bring anything to validate the carpet. Mansour became completely unglued. He's a completely unprofessional person and I would HIGHLY recommend you stay away from this business. We only went through with this transaction because they installers were so very nice and they were on site. It's completely bizzare experience. The owner went from pleasant to rediculous. If I had to do it again, I would have used their competitor who remaind professional all throughout (carpet express). I intend to use the competitor next time. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

THIS COMPANY WORKS VERY QUICK! THEY HELPED US MAKE THE SELECTION FROM A LIMITED SUPPLY. HOWEVER, THEY WERE ABLE TO INSTALL IT ON THE DAY THAT WE ASKED. INSTALLATION OCCURRED WITHIN A FEW SHORT HOURS.
