I was very pleased on how this all went. After several attempts to get estimates from other painters who never came through, I found Fresh Coat on Angie’s List. They came out as promised to look at my house and I had a written estimate within days. Everything was spelled out on the contract and any questions I had were promptly answered. The owner, Jimmy comes out on the day the work starts and goes over everything again to make sure all is in order. They take their time with the prep and the painters came every day until the work was finished. Jimmy then comes out again to walk around to make sure everything is done correctly. Any mistakes were quickly corrected. I also have a warranty! I will be calling again!

The process was great from beginning to end. Lara, the project mgr., responds immediately to all questions and her initial estimate was done very quickly and timely. The crew also showed up on time and did excellent work in about 1/4 the time it would've taken me. Finally, the owner Jimmy was very nice to work with and made sure everything was satisfactory. The price seemed a bit high for painting 1 room, but it was worth it because I know I would've wasted my entire weekend doing it myself. Plus, I don't mind paying more for excellent customer service.

I got several estimates, and the professionalism and price varied wildly! One contractor walked around looking at the place, and left....no measuring, no discussion about paint whatsoever, so I wondered what paint would be used, how long it might take, etc. The second contractor walked around with a measuring device and told me that he would get the paint...no mention of anything else. The next contractor sent a very detailed estimate that was over $5,000 for the 1,350 sq. ft. unit. There were eight rooms to paint, and this contractor charged extra for every color change over three, and around $75 for each change, which helped bring it up to that cost. When the estimates came in, one was so under-detailed, that it mostly said, 'Paint condo; 8 rooms'. Again, no mention of the paint, or it's quality, etc. That brings us to Fresh Coat. The estimator came out on time and ready to get to work. She measured all the rooms, and offered a service from Sherwin-Williams to help choose colors, but I had already chosen my colors and didn't need that. We went over all the color choices that I had made, and she recorded each room with the chosen color. She went over the paint choices and I chose the one that best suited my needs. Next, we chose a tentative date. When I got the estimate it was fair and accurate, and I chose Fresh Coat to do the work for me. Their schedule improved, and I met the paint crew two days earlier that originally scheduled, and that was good for me. The painters were on-time and dug right in removing lots of nails, drapery hardware and anything on the walls. They patched a few holes and some tears in the paper of the dry wall. The kitchen was a very dark red color. The previous painters had hit the ceiling with the dark color several times, and before the Fresh Coat painters started with the new very light color, they went around the entire room and painted the edges white to match the ceiling. After two heavy coats of the new color on the walls, we could still see a glimpse of that really dark color, so they did a third coat, and that did the trick. They finished the whole place in less than four days and did an outstanding job! I am very happy with the quality of the work, and the price, and would recommend them even to the pickiest people I know, and they would not be disappointed.

During the course of the estimate & the work, all went fine. It wasn't until the weeks & months afterward that I noticed mistakes made by the crew that did the work; e.g., paint mistakenly applied in places (frames), paint spilled in some places (carpeting by closet), and -- most disappointing to me -- the seams in ceilings that were to have been mudded, smoothed and painted have, over time, become more and more visible. I don't know if the quality of the mud was such that it shrank over time, or what, but the ceiling areas that were to have been smoothed now have very visible seams. Part of the fault was mine in not doing a more careful check during the walk-through with the painting crew when they finished, so that I didn't notice many of these issues until later on. Credit goes to the owner, who offered to come to see the job afterwards, and I said he needn't bother; that said, the ceiling seams didn't show this bad until some months later.

From the owner of the company (Jimmy Zest) on down the attitudes were very professional, and all dealings with them were pleasant. This made what is an inherently messy project tolerable. Could not be happier with Jimmy and his crew. He was very professional and so was his entire crew. He sent out Laura to do a quote and showed me the cost room by room. The price we paid was more than fair for the work performed. We closed on the house and they started painting it the next day. I could not ask for better service. So very pleased with them that I am spreading the word to let other people know what a great company this is! Honestly, I haven't hung up a single piece of wall decor because I don't want to mess up my nice walls!!!

Excellent. Jimmy and his guys are very professional and really care about the quality of the work they do. They repaired nail pops, plaster imperfections similar items before applying two coats of excellent quality paint. In addition to the painting work that was quoted, they also recaulked the ceiling molding in the master bedroom and repainted a wood panel over the fireplace at no additional cost. The only hiccup was with the color consultant that Jimmy recommended. She didn't tell us about or recommend us to buy paint samples which we could try before we committed to a color. As a result, we painted the entire great room and kitchen with a color we had picked from the color wheel only to find out we didn't like it and had to have the entire area repainted which added to time and cost. Other than that, we were very pleased with the job they did. We had used them in our previous home and were very pleased with that job too.

Estimate review was quick and easy. Workers arrived to start each day at that exact time stated. They were very neat and professional. Laid coverings over everything. Very good repair work where necessary, and even some areas that were not known. Looks great.

I was highly impressed with Fresh Coat from beginning to end. The estimate was scheduled and performed right away, the proposal was highly professional, and the hardworking crew was punctual and did quality work. Jimmy followed up throughout and at the end of the project to make sure all of my expectations were met. However, my expectations were exceeded! I will use them again and will gladly refer them to my neighbors and friends.

This contractor had a coupon that I told him about when I first had him to give me an estimate. He told me it wouldn't work because it would take longer to do the job than the amount of time on the coupon. Come to find out, it took them less time and I could have saved a lot of money using the coupon. Also, I picked out a one coat paint from Sherwin Williams and the store assured me it would only take one coat over my white walls. The painter's put the paint on so thin that they had go paint my walls twice. He wanted to charge more for the second coat. The paint they used on the door started peeling off, they had to come back to redo some of the walls that weren't prepped correctly. Now, the paint on my fireplace is peeling off. I had to argue about everything they did wrong and the amount he wanted to charge. BEWARE! Print any coupon that is advertised on angie's list website. He can change the coupon and then say it wasn't what it said. I saw a coupon one day and then he removed it the next day which he said he couldn't remove it for as long as his contract was with Angie's list. Needless to say, I would never do business with him again.

"First, to address the Angie’s List coupon in question: The coupons that are being advertised presently on Angie’s List have been on the site since April 2016 (Original quote for this client was done 7/21/2016). The coupon in question, per the client, was a $2002.50 Painter for 2 Weeks (80 labor hours). This coupon does not exist and has never been advertised on Angie’s List or any other website. After speaking to the client, I phoned Angie’s List to be sure that there wasn’t an error on my AL page, and they confirmed that I had never run such a coupon. The representative offered to make a 3-way call to include the client and myself to discuss her concerns, but when I offered this to the client, she refused. The AL rep then, upon my request, sent the following email, which I printed and gave to the client: Jimmy, Thanks for your inquiry. I have looked over your account history and cannot see and instances where you have had an 80-hour painting deal. I see Painter for a Week (40 hours) offers and Painter for a Day (8 hours) offers but nothing equating to 80 hours. Have a good day! Thanks, Chris Lowry eCommerce Sales Consultant Phone/Fax: 317-803-4705 1030 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46202 I explained to the client that if I want to add, remove or alter any AL coupons in any way, I have to go through a Sales Consultant, who draws up a new contract and then makes the changes that I request. I cannot go on the site and change anything on my own. As to the Sherwin Williams paint that the client chose (Emerald Matte): It was explained by both the Sherwin Williams store manager and myself that the paint would cover in one coat ONLY IF she chose to use the existing color and sheen that was on the walls. I told the client that painting the green color that she chose over the white walls that she currently had would almost surely require 2 coats, but that I would let her decide after the first coat was applied. As expected, the paint did not cover completely, and the client chose to have the second coat applied. While I was in the client’s home looking at the walls with her, she expressed her frustration over the need for using 2 coats of paint. I offered to make a call in to the Sherwin Williams store so that the three of us could discuss the matter. I even offered to have the Sherwin Williams store manager and area representative come out to the house to look at it with her, but she refused. Lastly, the issue of the paint peeling on the door: After the door was painted, the client scratched through the paint with her fingernail and started peeling the paint off…these are her words. When she called me regarding this, I told her that the paint had not yet cured and hardened. I then had to send by crew back out to fix the door that she, herself damaged. I did not charge her for this. I ended up giving the client a substantial discount. I truly feel like I did everything in my power to make things right for this client. Upon receiving payment, the client stated to me that she was completely satisfied with the work performed."

Jimmy was very responsive to our request for a painting quote. He actually came out to our house several times because we had changed our mind about which rooms needed painting. On the day of the appointment, the workers were punctual and very polite. The job took a day and a half, and it turned out fantastic. Jimmy was able to match the wall color perfectly (which was a different brand). We would definitely hire them again! Price was very reasonable for quality work.
