Tech came out in the evening to assess one of my two central ac units. After I had changed the fan motor no cold air was generated. He checked the pressures and added refrigerant. Very professional and customer-centric.

Under the American Home Shield Warranty this company came out. He was unable to fix the bathroom sink problem under the warranty but advised it the sinks needed to be replaced and some of the pipes... He was willing to do it for about $650 plus material. That did not happen and you will see why shortly. He also "cleared" a drain in my basement under the warranty and advised that I could continue to have problems some time in the future unless I spent $10k-$20k on waterproofing some walls and/or providing a sump pump. The "sometime" came a couple of days later. AHS attempted to have Froggy come back out to check his work for 45-60 days but he either did not respond or consented to do so and never followed up during the 5-6 times he was contacted. AHS eventually sent another contractor who indicated that the equipment used by the Froggy was not long enough to clear the drain. Froggy called after the new vendor had completed the work to ask how it was going. The new vendor cleared the drain correctly and there has been no issue ever since....I have not needed to spend $10-$20k to resolve the issue. Since that time Froggy has been on Channel 2 News where he was outed for a disaster of a job he did for a neighbor. The news story indicated that Froggy was not bonded, did not have liability insurance, nor did he have a master plumbing license. Obviously, I will never use him again. Here is the link to the Channel 2 News Story. I think it important for consumers to know who they are doing business with:

[*** Link removed ***]

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - A plumbing job goes haywire for a West St. Louis family. They're fighting a lien despite unfinished work. LeKeisha Sanders, her children and her grandmother shared a home in the West End. They wanted to sell the house but a collapsed lateral had to be repaired. They called their home warranty company expecting to get a qualified plumber. That didn`t happen. The home warranty company sent a guy with no credentials. According to LaKeisha a city inspector told her the guy missed a critical step before starting the job. 'She pulled his name up and she said there had not been a permit pulled on this property, for this work. So she put a stop job order. '

A letter from the city's plumbing supervisor says Froggy's Heating and Air LLC does not carry a valid master plumber license, a valid certificate of liability insurance, nor is he bonded. The stop work order left the basement a mess. The buyer expected to close on the house in a few weeks so the family found a licensed plumber. That cost them $2,500 dollars and LaKeisha says, 'The other contractor came in, connected the pipes, and they finished the job.'

Two days before closing, Jeremiah Froggy files a lien on the property. LeKeisha goes to the closing hoping his lack of credentials will be enough to fight the lien. Not so. $10,000 was handed over to an unlicensed, uninsured individual. LeKeisha says the title company told her she was out of time. 'If I didn`t close, it`s a possibility the buyers could have sued me. So they said I needed to close.'

I called Froggy. He says he's entitled to file lien because LaKeisha and her grandmother failed to send him a certified letter removing him from the job. It was breach of contract according to him. A spokesperson for the warranty company tells me Froggy`s Heating and Air LLC has been removed from their list of contractors. The company goes on to say 'American Home Shield is committed to working with Ms. Sanders to find a new way to address her burden.' And LaKeisha says the financial burden is more than she wanted her grandmother to have to deal with. 'Very disappointed. It`s like nobody listened. I tried to be the voice for my grandmother but nobody would listen.'

LaKeisha Sanders has a message for people with home warranty packages. When the company sends a contractor under their name, you still have to check out the contractor and confirm they are qualified to do what you need done. St. Louis city encourages homeowners to contact city hall to check credentials. The number is 314-622-3318

As it happened he did not do it right so when I called he doesn't respond to any calls. He told me he got an inspection from my municipality and he didn't, so with my house on the market when they came to do the inspection and it was wrong they said the fact that he did not make any effort to get any kind of permits from the municipality they would have told him that it was done wrong. When I called I did not get any response from him and I don't think he is on Angie's List any more. The deal was for $600 or $700 if I can remember. When he came in he said I would have to replace a pipe that goes to my furnace because he said it wouldn't pass code so that was an additional $700. Then there is a release valve on the top and it should have been 18 inches from the top of the water heater, but it is only four inches so I had to pay somebody $300 to come and repair that. The water heater is pretty good; I just was not happy with the installation. He showed up at, like, 8 o'clock at night. Initially he was pretty professional; I just did not realize he was doing everything wrong. I am not impressed. I had to take the water heater box out to the front, he did not take it. He cleaned up okay.

I did not pay more than the deal I purchased. It wasn't their specialty so I probably would not use them again.

I had 3 to do's I needed done. One was accomplished.

On one, the workman stated the part I had wouldn't work, suggested I return the part for a similar part from a recommended supplier & then call provider back for another appt.

On the last to do, as I recall, he didn't have seals for the type of faucet that was leaking. Workman suggested that we replace the faucet rather than have the seals replaced. Again, recommended a supplier to obtain a new faucet & then we could call them back for another appt.

He did more or less, the work I wanted done. He ended up charging me a lot. Which were things I questioned afterwards. Then he took away my original faucet fixture that I was having replaced. My plan was to keep that faucet and pass it on to my cousin that wanted for another place that he has. I didn't realize he took it away and when I called and said, what happened to my faucet, he said, we took it and disposed of it. I was not happy but he did the work but he ended up charging a lot and I didn't know if that was normal or not. I didn't appreciate him taking the faucet away without letting me know. It was a bad experience the bottom line.

They were okay. He kept having to cancel. It wasn't all his fault. He wasn't able to fix some other things. He wasn't able to fix everything that we had. We had three issues going on and he was only able to take care of one of them.

Plumber was nice, quick, explained everything and asked me to review the work before he moved on to the next task. A good experience.
