Wood Flooring - Install or Completely Replace
We hired Functional Floors to refinish the hardwood floors in our new home and install new wood in areas where there was none. Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward project turned into a very disappointing experience involving poor communication, questionable decisions made during the work and a finished product that required multiple attempts to fix. Throughout the project, decisions were made by the crew without asking us how we wanted things handled. Those decisions resulted in visible filler, patched areas, and other issues in our newly refinished floors that required them to come back out and attempt repairs. For a project of this size and cost, we expected much better attention to detail and communication. When we raised concerns, the crew lead who originally did the work was confrontational and not helpful in resolving the situation. The staff from the office staff, the estimator and the actual Install Crew were excellent. Professional, friendly, knowledgeable and really just made me feel comfortable. That is very important at a time when most business is handled today via the internet. (I interacted with real people!) They explained their process and exactly the steps that were going to be taken. The Install crew was very careful, meticulous and did not skip any steps. They were very respectful of my property and took the time to answer any and all questions. With that being said, the result was excellent work! I had my Den and Foyer hardwood refinished and it looks amazing. Overall, just a great experience and outcome.

Functional did a great job. They cleaned the edges without scarring the base boards The floors were gouged by the previous owner and they were able to remove and blend/grade the areas so they were unnoticeable. Highly recommended

Functional floors was a professional, safe, and quality experience from the first minute. They gave me a competitive price and were quick and responsive throughout the job. They advised me about an area of my floor and I ended up revising my original plan, and it turned out beautifully. Brian and his crew were timely, professional, and did very good work. There were small defects in the poly layer that I noticed a few weeks later in the laundry room, and within hours of my asking what could be done about it, they had someone come out and refinish the small defects, free of charge. I would recommend them to anybody, and I am happy I went with them. Our floors look amazing, and my wife, who is a tough critic, is extremely happy with the result. The house looks dramatically newer, and we are still super excited about it months later! Thank you to everyone at Functional Floors!

I am satisfied with the installation of my engineered hardwood floors. The crew (John and Damien) were excellent. The only disappointment was the estimator Steve did not figure in a few pieces of transition door moulding. I would have expected better attention to detail from him. John managed to solve this problem. I would not hesitate to recommend this company.

The work crew was very personable and accommodating. We would definitely use them again. Our refinished floors are beautiful. They also lined up a cleaning company (excellent) and a company to move furniture/appliances in and out of the work area (excellent). This was extremely helpful

Everyone is friendly and professional. Very easy to get along with and they work very fast. I had a one man crew for installation and he beat the projected timeline by a day and a half. Great company, great people, great quality. I would use them again if they didn't already floor my entire living space.

Functional Floors came out and sanded the original wood floors in my 3 bedrooms. They were 70 years old and have been covered by carpeting since I moved in 35 years ago. Boy, are they beautiful now. The price was reasonable (less than I thought it would be) and the work was professional. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone who needs this work.

Horrible , late everyday. Rude and extremely rude when showing up late daily. Broke my television remote and didn’t tell me. Ruined my baseboards and didn’t tell me that the baseboards would be ruined with floor paint and saw dust. Saw dust throughout my window seals. Did not complete the finish that they assured me would be my finish upon hire , which is why I hired them for the job because they confirmed this was a high gloss finish they offered. Once I expressed my concerns , they said this was not a service offered. Smh, highly not recommended.

A really good experience all the way around starting with the phone call. So that you're not being on hold all the time they have you they have you leave your number and name and they give you a call back it is specific time that you chosen so you don't have to keep playing phone tag. Very professional from beginning to end. I will hire them again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended
