Garden Keepers

Alpheus Wilson, the owner of Garden Keepers, was initially a referral from Home Advisor for grading my backyard. He came to my home, saw my yard, and quoted me a price for the grading only. However, when he saw other contractors there quoting me for sod and fence replacement, he quoted me a rate of $7000 to do all 3 jobs. After receiving multiple quotes from other companies, I agreed to let Garden Keepers do the job of removing my old fence and grading my yard, completing the work by 4/16/21 when the fence company had me scheduled to replace my fence. The cost he quoted me for these two jobs was $2700. He asked me to CashApp him 80% up front, but agreed to 50% up front once I told him other companies usually only ask for 50% up front. I sent him $1400 via CashApp on 4/9/21 as he said he wanted to get me on the schedule before things got really busy. He did not show nor contact me on Monday. When I called him, he said he had a family issue and could not come until Tuesday, 4/13/21, but would finish the job in time. He came on Tuesday and took down my fence but left the panels on the side of the yard. Luckily, my HOA did not fine me for this. I called him to ask why he left the panels and he said he could only fit some in his truck and he was going to a dumpster where he had an arrangement to dispose of them for a cheap price. He was trying to get there before they closed. He said he would come back the next day and get the rest. He did not show up on Wednesday and again I had to call him to find out why. He then gave me the excuse that his daughter was exposed to someone with COVID and his entire family was on quarantine and he could not complete the job for two weeks. I had to reschedule with the fence company to come on 5/21021 to allow Mr. Wilson his quarantine. I told him if he did not think he could finish the job in time, then he should refund my deposit . He said that he should be cleared to work on 5/2/21. He again did not show and I sent him multiple voicemails and texts, to which he did not respond. He finally texted me on 5/5/21 informing me "the rental price of the grader was higher and that he didn't calculate in increase amount." He then asked for $600 more to rent the equipment so he could complete the job. I refused to pay him more money because he had not completed the first job of removing the concrete posts from my fence. He then sent me a long text informing me that the national average to remove my fence with the concrete posts was much higher than he quoted me and he was trying to work with me since he was "being under compensated." Subsequently, my response was that he knew what the job entailed before he agreed and he can't change the contract now. If he did not want to complete the job, he should return my deposit. He refused to respond and he would not answer my phone calls. Although he only removed the fence panels of my old fence, and left the concrete posts in the ground, Mr. Wilson has not returned any of my deposit. I had to hire another company to remove the concrete fence posts in the ground and then grade my yard. The new company's costs was less than what Mr. Wilson and Garden Keepers initially charged. It seems that Mr. Wilson and thus Garden Keepers was out to scam me out of my money. I would never hire his company again and cannot understand how HOME ADVISOR chose to promote a company that does not stand behind their contractual agreements. As for Garden Keepers' rating, I would give him a 0 if it was an option.

I’ve had landscapers before, but this company far exceeds the rest. Prompt, professional and provide great service. They take great pride in their work and they deliver what they promise. It is refreshing to finally have a landscaper I can depend and count on. Would definitely recommend this company. ??

Very reasonable pricing! So happy to be able to entertain in my backyard without all of the ugly dirt spots. I finally have nice green grass and my tree trunks are officially hidden.

He does a really good job. Above and beyond. He cut it, line my grass along the sidewalk. He does a full landscaping.
