Gardner Fence LLC

The quality of wood and hardware, and the workmanship in building the fence and gate, were outstanding. We are very pleased with the result. We contacted Gary Gardner in late August and requested an estimate, which he provided for us very quickly. Within a few days we made our first payment and were told it would be "a couple of weeks" before work began. As you can read from the other reviews written in September and October, something happened during that time and contact with Gary became sporadic. We were concerned, given the other reviews that were appearing at that time, but we decided to be calm and patient and see how everything played out. In this case, it paid off very well. The workmen finished our fence yesterday; they were very careful, even artful, with the more complicated parts of the fence that required unusual jut-outs and joints. The cedar is of outstanding quality, and the gate is remarkably solid and beautifully done. Gary gave us a discount on the work to make up for the delay. All in all, the finished product was worth the wait for us.

Gary took a deposit from my neighbor and me and agreed to a completion date that coincided with my neighbor’s landscape project. He showed up three day past the deadline, tore down the existing fence and left it in the front yard. He then posted a free wood ad on the internet for strangers to come by the house. Twelve days past the agreed deadline there is no fence installed and Gary will not return calls or texts from my neighbor or myself.

TL;DR - He was responsive until he took my deposit and has done almost none of the work promised. He is no longer responding and I assume that the work won't be done. On top of this, he posted a Facebook ad to strangers promising free fence parts from our yard so that he didn't have to remove the old fence himself - HE GAVE OUR ADDRESSES TO STRANGERS ON FACEBOOK! Avoid this guy and don't give him money My neighbor and I want to replace a fence which is in between our properties and got several bids for the fence work. Gardner Fence LLC was the lowest bid and since they had mostly good reviews at the time (outside of 2 that he talked around) and promised that the fence would be up before I had landscaping work scheduled to begin, we decided to go with him. The excuses started the day that work was supposed to begin - all of them were plausible alone but the sheer number of them is less plausible: 1. Previous job didn't go well, will be starting a day late 2. Previous job went worse, won't be starting until after the promised completion date. Can't use phone at the job that has gone wrong due to location yet sends email from his iPhone. 3. Suddenly has Jury duty and won't be able to make it, someone will be out tomorrow 4. Having problems getting more than 1 person to show up, will be showing up to start tomorrow 5. Really sorry about this, will show up tomorrow 6. New guy starting on Monday, will be doing everything in one day. To be fair, he did have the existing fence taken down and new holes were dug for fence posts. The old fence was left in front of my neighbor's house but some work was done. One of the last straws with me was how he tried to get rid of the old fence bits sitting in front. I noticed two people in a pickup truck going through the pile of old fence and assumed that work was finally going to start. I asked if they were going to be working on putting up the new fence tomorrow but they looked confused and told me that they found out about the pile of fence parts in an ad on Facebook for free fence parts/lumber giving our address as the pickup location. Instead of disposing of the old fence as promised, he put up an ad trying to get strangers to show up at our houses to take away the bits that he took down. They didn't even take it all away, they only took the parts that had my old gate hardware attached. I did take pictures, noted the license plate of the truck that was here and wrote down a description of the folks who were going through the pile of old fence.

Save yourself time and avoid this company like the plague. He took our money and then disappeared for a month. People like this should not be in business. Will report them to the BBB.

We signed the contract in the beginning of June for a 4-5 week start. At the end of the fifth week, I reached out to Gary to ask when they were starting. I was told the materials were coming in the next week and then they would start the following. Fast forward to the last week, again, I asked if they were starting and I was told it would be Thursday. Thursday rolls around and nothing. So, I reach out again to ask and I was told materials would arrive the next day and would start next week. In this whole time I was the one who had to ask for updates. Gary said there were multiple delays, but never was proactive in communicating the issues. Also, there was no effort to resolve my frustration or offer any solutions. Instead there was excuse after excuse and no returned phone calls like he said he would do. As a fellow veteran, I am absolutely disappointed in the way this veteran-owned company operates. When I asked if there was the ability to offer a discount to compensate for not sticking to the timeline of the signed contract, I was told that was not possible. So, I cancelled and will be taking my business (along with my neighbors') elsewhere. I am now waiting for my deposit to be returned. **Update** - I have yet to receive my refund when Gary said I would receive it within 10 business days (last week). He said last night that he's waiting on the refund from the supplier. That shouldn't matter, he has his own business. Told me last night that "You'll get the money when I get it." Absolutely unethical. Will be pursuing legal matters if he does not return my deposit this week.

Gardner's workers were excellent to work with. They communicated with us throughout the process, were very well priced, and kept us informed of what was going on at all times. They were very informative when asked how they were installing posts and why they used their preferred method (to improve drainage of the bottom of the posts, reduce rot and extend fence lifetime). They were very flexible, accepting requested changes to the shape and length of the fence on the day of installation, and even came back that afternoon when we asked for a modification to the bottom of the gate to ensure our dog didn't go under. Overall we're thrilled with the quality of work, cost, professionalism and friendliness of the entire team. We've recommended them to several neighbors and friends who were interested in installing or expanding their fences.

Communication and responsiveness was great! Brian was able to squeeze us in between his other jobs and was very professional. Highly recommend!

They did a great job installing the fence. It has 4X4 cedar posts that were put in concrete and added 3 rails. This was important where we live due to high winds. They used 5.5" premium pickets. The fence looks really nice. The best part about this job was the price. We initially asked for quotes from Peak View fencing and Gardner. The Gardner price was significantly below the Peak View fencing price. This was the main reason we chose Gardner. They really did a nice job and the price was right. The project was delayed a couple of weeks from the initial start date because they were behind schedule. Which would have been fine if they would have let me know but I had to call them and ask a couple of times when they would start. After that, they called me and let me know when they were going to start. Even with the delay I am happy we chose them.

Absolutely beautiful. We finally have the privacy we were looking for. we are so very pleased with the workmanship and customer service that Gardener Fence provided.

The job did very well they were on time got the job done very quickly clean up their mess the price was reasonable just over all a really good job and they are coming out to do another one for me and my neighbors

Honestly, this was one of the best experiences we have had with hiring someone to do work on our home. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional. They were always willing to answer our questions and went the extra mile to make us happy. They put a lot of quality work in quickly. We can’t recommend them enough. The fence looks amazing.

Gary and his crew were absolutely fantastic. Their quality work leads them to be booked up for a while, but Gary consistently provided updates on when they would be out to my home. They did quick, quality work that we are extremely happy with.

It went very well.

Once we got it started it went fast. Day 1 they removed all the old fence and put in the posts. Day 2 they put in the rails and started the pickets. Day 3 they finished the pickets and 4 gates! The boards are lined up perfectly at the top. The brackets and handles they used are sturdy and look great!

More than willing to accommodate, excellent customer service. Gary was extremely professional and responsive to my needs. I called him even outside of business hours and he was always pleasant. I can't say enough good things about them.
