GARRY BITNER CUSTOM FLOORS

<p>Garry's company worked with me about a year ago through a replacement of carpet on stairs and a loft with hardwood to match my existing hardwood..  I also replaced carpet in 3 bedrooms.  Garry personally worked with me on the carpet selection and I have been absolutely satisfied with the carpet he recommended and it's installation.</p> <p>The replacement of the carpet with hardwood on the stairs required subflooring to be installed on the stairs before the hardwood could be laid.  My hardwood design is complicated by varying widths and lengths of planks.  I was quite worried about how the stairs would come out with the addition of the subfloor and the complicated layout of the hardwood.  I was and continue to be thrilled with the results.</p> <p>Garry was very patient when the flooring arrived and I realized that I had spec'd the wrong floor.  Obviously this threw his schedule off considerably.  But he and his crews reacted professionally and patiently.</p> <p>I gladly recommend GB Custom floors.</p> <br />

I had a huge water leak caused by a plastic bathtub improperly installed in my home by the builder ( no sand base ).The water ran under the wall ,and into the bedroom for a day or two before anyone went in and noticed the leak . By that time ,the walls were wet and the floor was ruined in three areas .I called Mr. Bitner because he had done work for me in the past when I remodeled my home, and I was very pleased with his work .I explained to him that I needed the work done urgently and he came right over . He gave me a great price for his labor ,and even came in under my budget  .He showed up on time ,and as promised .When my plumber didn`t show  ,Mr.Bitner helped find one for me that I could afford ,and who could come out right away .He completely finished my job in about two weeks ,and did a fantastic job! He made sure I was pleased with his work before he considered the job done. I feel very confident recommending his services . <br />

We had Garry come and install some beautiful hardwood floors in our <br /> dining room shortly after we moved into our new house in 2009. He charged us a <br /> fair price and got the work done in a fair amount of time. The problem <br /> arose about 8 months after he had installed our floor. <br /> One day out of the blue we hear this awful creaking noise coming from the dining <br /> room. When we went to investigate and the floor had buckled in the <br /> middle and was lifting our dining room table in the air. When we <br /> contacted Garry he was sure that moisture had gotten under the floor. He <br /> suggested that a pipe may have burst in our foundation, and that that <br /> was the most likely cause. In the middle of our phone call he tells me <br /> he is about to go through an area where there is terrible cell service, <br /> and the call is dropped. I tried to call back and it went  straight to <br /> voice-mail.  I tried to call back several more times and left him a <br /> message. He never responded. <br /> We went to lumber liquidators where we had purchased the bellawood brazialian redwood flooring and spoke <br /> with them about what happened. They recommended some contractors that <br /> they normally work with, and we had 2 come look at the floor to see if <br /> it could be repaired. What we found when the other contractors arrived <br /> was that when Garry installed our floor he had butted the wood right up <br /> against the wall leaving the wood no room to expand. The floor expanded and because there was no wiggle room it buckled in the middle ripping the adhesive form the concrete and ruining our floor. We had to completely rip out the floor and get a new one installed. <br /> Overall the initial work was good and the price wasn't terrible. However the way the floor was installed was terrible and our beautiful hardwood floor was ruined because of improper installation. Garry did not even bother to come out and take a look or call us back. We would not recommend using Garry for your flooring installation needs. <br />

There was a complete lack of care.  He did not do any prep work or cover anything in the home.  He left the AC running at 67 degrees overnight after he was there for the initial demo.  I never got a straight answer on the price.

Gary did a great job and we plan to use him again when we do new tile in our kitchen & bathrooms. Our only mistake was choosing another flooring supplier other than the one Gary recommended, they didn't provide the stair noses that matched the flooring they sold us. Gary saved the day by making the stair noses himself from scratch.

The work was excellent, I'll recommend him to my friends.  He worked within my budget and had great recommendations for me.  What impressed me most was how he was known to all of the tile and flooring distributors around Austin.  They had all worked with him and had great things to say.  He was on the job site every time I was there, and was frequently doing a lot of the installation work himself.  This was a big job (for me) and I'm very happy with how our house looks.

I called Gary on Thursday, Oct-6 and spoke about the dishwasher flooding our living room and kitchen and destroying our beautiful cherry floor.  We chose to replace damage boards instead of tearing up the entire living room.  There were few contractors willing to take on the job, but Gary agreed without hesitating.  Turns out, contractors don't like "old work", and on top of that, they don't like to install wood they didn't sell.  He asked that I text him all of my details (address, description of the job, etc). <br /> <br /> On Wednesday, Oct-12 Gary with partner Chuck came to the house.  They quickly estimated what needed to be done, marked off the damaged wood, and gave me a quote.  I was able to find exact same wood that we originally put in, so Gary checked how well it matched before he started cutting. <br /> <br /> They carefully extracted damaged planks, making the floor look like an unfinished puzzle.  They worked on cleaning everything through lunch, then took lunch, came back and installed the wood.  Gary even cut me several pieces of missing baseboard because "he had the saw out anyway". <br /> <br /> They work very quickly and carefully -- no new scratches or scuffmarks, and the floor looks like new.  No one would ever be able to tell that a chunk of the floor was ever damaged.

We were really happy with the flooring installation.  We will use him going forward, and have recommended him to friends.

It went well overall. They return your phone calls. The work was done on time and done to my expectation.

The final product was great. I was not impressed with the Prosource that we had to visit to buy all our products. It was confusing on pricing and continually not getting order right. I would clearly find the cost of the product and add it to the bill to figure final cost. The wood floors are perfect!!!! They were a little difficult but no problem for his workers. Remember how dusty all this flooring is and keep things covered!! There was a problem in one of the bathrooms with the travertine and gary came out with his guys and fixed it. He also sent me flowers knowing I lost my dad during this tough period. Again the work was fantastic

I found these guys on Angie's list. I called up in a panic since we were ready to move and had to have the place ready within days. The owner, Gary, was on the spot within a few hours to give an estimate. Started the job the next day and finished it the same day. The workers were very cordial and professional and asked my opinion about options when available. One of them even stayed late on a weekend to help finish up so extra work I added on at the end. These guys were very good.

Except for one late arrival he was on time. The first proposal was a bit confusing but I was able to clear it up with a phone call. The work done was beautiful and as promised. Left no trash or stains behind, disposed of carpeting. There were 2 things I think could be improved -- Gary often answered the business phone listing with "Hello" or "this is Gary." It sounded unprofessional and actually caused me to consider dropping him. The other is that he used terminology that I had no familiarity with and at times had trouble describing what he meant in a way I could understand. These were not major issues however.

His workmanship was incredible and it was a great looking job. We have a combination of carpeted and tiled surfaces and we were having only the tiled surfaces done and he was able to meet the height of the existing tile and made it look seamless. Their ability so far has been good.

Garry's crew is professional and easy to work with. They made suggestions about layout that worked very well. All the work looks great.

When Garry came over to measure he was very thoughtful in making recommendations (such as to put stone rather than hardwood in my kitchen since I have two dogs that would be eating and drinking in there). He then provided an estimate and a materials list for me to take to the wholesale facility when picking out my stone and hardwood. Once I had settled on African pearwood for the hardwood and 18 x 18 travertine (which were priced fabulously b/c of his relationship with the wholesaler) I scheduled the install. There was a very honest mix up in the scheduling and even then, he went out of his way and accommodate my schedule. He showed up on time the morning of the install w/ a contract that I was very happy with. His guys showed up on time everyday, and even when there were some unforeseen costs (I needed to have sub floor put in) he really worked with my budget. He and his guys did amazing work and I absolutely love my floors and baseboards. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.
