We removed the wet pad and dried out the carpet and cement floor for a week. Gary came over to check out the situation and see the kind of pad we still had in place, then came back the next day with the replacement pad. He installed the pad, repaired some loose tack strip, and re-stretched the carpet. All went well and took about 90 minutes. We can't tell that anything happened to the carpet, and the pad feels the same as the original pad (it was about 2 years old) <br />

To tell a long story short, a partial of my family room had a terrible stink smell, and I already had spent one year to try to get ride of it.  I used vinegar, burned good quality candle, and spread/vacuumed baking soda many, many times, plus always opened windows to let out  the stink air.  There is still 60% of the stink smell could not dissipated. <br /> Gary sensed my urgent and he came from his busy schedule.   <br /> He moved the carpet up, stripped and removed the old/stink pad, swiped stink dust from concrete floor carefully, installed a good bonded new pad, and re-installed the old carpet. <br /> Even though he said he did not know how much the re-padding could help the stink smell. Surprisingly it did a great job and the stink smell cut down 85% from the time he started to do the work.  GOOD JOB! Gary holds up his attitude, work, and equipment in all high quality standard. <br /> I will keep doing my old routine: vinegar, candle, vacuum, and windows opening to fight the rest 9% odors.  Keep my fingers cross!!! <br />

I called on Monday afternoon and he returned my call the same evening.  We set up an appointment for 1:00 on Wednesday and he arrived right on time.  We walked through the house and I showed him all the places that needed stretching (at least 6) and he said it should be $200 and began the job right away.  He moved some big furniture to make it happen while I worked ahead of him to get the little things out of the way.  He was done by 2:45 and our carpet looks decent again!  Kind and professional with no problems at all! <br />

Gary and his brother did the difficult job in one day on my third floor, walkup apartment.  The installation was very well done; I found no defects.  Scraping the old, disintegrated  pad off of the wood floor took much effort and time.  The space was complex; it required two long seams which are now invisible.  They cleaned up well and hauled away the old materials.  It now looks great! <br />

<p>My husband called Gary on Tuesday.  Gary returned the call quickly and gave us a rough estimate of the cost of the work.  An Appointment was set up for Friday to confirm the estimate and do the work.  He arrived promptly - actually a bit early which is fine with us.  He looked at the work to be done, explained what he would do and confirmed the estimate.  He finished quickly, everything looks great, and charged us less than the estimate.  </p> <br />

They got the work done in two days which I appreciated and the carpet looks great.  They were nice and hard workers.  My one complaint is that he does not give written quotes and did not always return my calls timely (at one point I was unsure he was still doing the job).  Verbally he quoted me 2000.00 for the install and 3-400.00 for moving the furniture.  My husband and I moved a great deal of furniture and helped them move some of the big pieces.  When he was done working, he gave me a bill that was about 300.00 over his original quote.  The Angie's List coupon got it down to close to the original quote.  If I would have insisted on a written quote from the beginning this would not have occurred. <br /> I would use him again as long as the quote was in writing. <br />

Gary was on time and under his quoted price. He redid one seam UNTIL IT WAS PERFECT!! When I need my carpet replaced, he's getting the call to do it. I am VERY VERY pleased with his work and him. <br />Thanks Gary!!!! <br />

Gary showed up the day I called, he was kind and courteous, explained how he was going to solve the various problems, and did a great job! <br />

Gary is awesome!  Very pleasantly businesslike.  Not a lot of extra chitchat and ~ sometimes ~ that's just what a busy homeowner needs that day (I did).  Though certainly he is friendly and readily answered any questions I had.   <br /> He took measurements on his initial visit for the free estimate.  I was impressed that while he did the measurements with the tape, he muttered aloud to himself the numbers as he went - without writing them down.  Maybe he recorded measurements later?  He is so experienced he just knows exactly what he's doing.  Told me the yardage to order and was spot on (as it later turned out).   <br /> I had planned to order carpet from a typical big box store, but Gary mentioned another place I'd never heard of:  Contract Furnishing Mart in Tigard.  It was in the direction of the hardware store I was going to anyway, so I stopped in.  Turns out CFM is a wholesale flooring place (have cabinetry too).  They work with the installers who have accounts there.   I shopped & compared & decided I liked the quality of their carpet better - - so I appreciated his suggestion. <br /> Even though we had a delay between lifting the old carpet & Gary installing the new, he was patient & accommodating enough to readily reschedule.  Ditto for the CFM warehouse holding our carpet roll an extra couple weeks, no charge, no problem. <br /> Gary installed our carpet in a large room with awkward angles, and it looks terrific.  He encountered a minor problem en route and educated me about carpet weave patterns sometimes lining up 'just so' to create a thin dark or light line at the seam.  However, he is experienced enough to recognize and correct it.  We really appreciated his perfectionism and attention to small details. <br /> We would be pleased to hire him again if we re-carpet another room, and highly recommend him! <br />

Gary is a very nice man who does great work at very reasonable prices. We had several rooms where the carpeting had bubbled. Gary showed up on time and repaired the bubbles. Very efficient and affordable.

I left a message with Gary on Wednesday to see about setting up an estimate. He returned my call the same day, and we set up a time for the next morning. Gary arrived on time and brought several choices for padding. We decided on a padding. He measured the room, and walked through where a seam needed to be done in the hallway. The quote for padding and labor was $250. <br /> He was able to do the job at that time. <br /> The room and hallway are back to being carpeted, and you can't see the seam where the two meet! <br /> We will call again for any carpet needs. <br />

I called Gary on a Tuesday and he was able to come out on Friday of the same week. Friday morning he called and said his morning job was delayed so he was able to come out earlier than scheduled. Gary showed up about 30 minutes later, saw what needed to be repaired and did just that. I was very happy with the work Gary did. You can't even tell where he patched in the carpet.  My parents also needed to their carpet re-stretched in several rooms, so I recommended Gary to them. <br />

Gary came to our house to give us an estimate on a carpet installation for our basement. He recommended Carpet Outlet in Portland to purchase the carpet and he would pick up the carpet and pad and complete the installation. He was prompt and courteous and did a very professional job. He took his time measuring out the basement so we wouldn't have to pay for excess carpeting. We had other carpet companies come to the house--Gary did the job with 6 square yards less than what we were quoted by other companies and we saved over $500 by using Gary and Carpet Outlet! <br />

Gary arrived on time at 9:00 am as promised. He immediately went to work and quickly and efficiently stretched the carpet in each room. All of the ridges were removed, and new seams are clean and nearly invisible. After completion, he cleaned up all of the trimmings. He completed the job with minimum disruption to our activities and didn't require much furniture movement. Overall an excellent job. <br />
