They did a beautiful job on a very steep roof.

They were going to charge for part of the estimate and so I decided not to use them because of that. The estimate was pretty high. I had the job done and it was probably almost half the price they were going to charge but they were local contractors through a realtor company that I deal with. The sounded like they knew what they were doing, it sounded like they would have done the job pretty nicely but the were rather high plus hey were going to charge for giving me a proper estimate. They couldn't give me a proper estimate because I wouldn't pay the fee for the estimate. It was about 8 to $900.

Gary and his team were extremely easy to work with; they were professional and friendly. We changed our plan (and the estimate) several times without issue (Gary was very flexible). Work began almost immediately, and moved along in a timely fashion; however, we had some special-order materials in our project, and the project took longer than expected because we had to wait for the materials to arrive. They reversed the swing on two of our existing doors, so we didn't have to purchase new doors (or waste the old ones). There is no indication whatsoever that they had done that - the work the carpenter performed was exemplary. We had some complicated wiring involved in the project, as well - the electrician seemed to handle it easily (and everything works as desired). They even encountered an issue with our air handler that was complicated, and they were able to resolve the issue as if it had never occurred. We did encounter some issues after the project was completed, but Gary responded immediately and ensured that the issues were resolved. Finally, we were not charged extra due to any of the surprises that arose during the project. I would recommend GBP Contracting to anyone who is considering remodeling.
"This review comes as a surprise. As a seasoned Angie's List participant and long time contractor I have come to expect that some projects will turn out to be challenging. I sometimes know it in advance and occasionally I am surprised. Yes, it was challenging and we had some blips along the way. I felt we met the challenges and worked through them to the customers satisfaction. Any time the customer had an issue we addressed, corrected or replaced whatever he thought was not proper. He did inspect every day-at lunch time and in the evening and would bring his concerns to the crew leader in the morning. Nothing was covered until accepted. The original construction of the home was poorly done and a true leveling of the floor was impractical and very costly. The repair was quoted as"Sub-floor repair". The floor leveling went well beyond the original scope of removing the hump. We sistered in new floor joists across half of the bedroom. The bathroom floor "leveling"was not in the original quote and requested after the demolition of the shower, roman tub, vanity, toilet and divider wall gave a clearer picture of a problem. This floor was torn out and joists sistered back in, also. The level problem the customer noted is not 3/8', but barely an 1/8" in the 10ft.+ of the bathroom-- due to existing structure that could not bet entirely corrected. The out of level is in the cabinet install the customer performed due to over shimming. A point that I chose not to argue with the customer. I asked the customer if he wished a refund on the floor leveling in the bathroom and he accepted--a demand was not made or required. The floor grout color was indeed not correct-- the shower color was mistakenly used--a few shades different. We did use a stain to correct this and consulted with the customer regards color and technique prior to install. The work was accepted. The shaded tile in the middle of the floor was replaced with one that the customer approved. The last item regards another "hump" in the bedroom floor was about the the flooring contractor (not our scope) covering himself because he had covered the first hump and was required to remove the floor for our repair and then replace it at (I suspect) no charge and therefore used an abundance of caution. We extended the "leveling" repair at no cost. The project did last longer than expected: Additional time to deal with floor leveling, customer self installing the electrical and cabinetry and predominately the delay in customer purchased cabinets and countertops. I do not understand the "F" which I take to mean failing when all work was accepted, paid for in full with no complaints or concerns voiced at project close. I suppose a "C" would perhaps be understandable if there were concerns that the customer felt uncomfortable addressing. Instead I find a scathing and inaccurate account of the project in my reviews nearly 3 full months after the project completion with no communication from the customer to express dissatisfaction. Once again: This review comes as a surprise."

Gary the owner wsa very straightforward and professional. He listened caefully to what we wanted to do and executed flawlessly. With other contractors in the past we often needed to stay very engaged to insure the outcome was what we asked for. This was definitely not needed with Gary. He has an easy going style & communicates regularly on each step of the process. He also pays attention to details to achieve a high quality result. His employees & subcontractors were also very polite & considerate of our needs. They also kept the work areas very clean. I would not hesitate to use him again & recommend him highly.
Having used Gary on a previous renovation project when I was finally able to put in floor tile I knew I wanted to use him again. He was accurate on his estimate, was flexible adding on additional projects and accommodated my work schedule. My house is older and has some quirks and he came up with solutions to help camouflage. He also gave great advice on storing my furniture. The finally cost was what was estimated, no surprises. I would not hesitate to use Gary again.
"This review and [member name] prior review (removed by him) are baffling to me. First, [member name] is not the client that contracted with GBP Contracting. However, he does reside in the house where the Kitchen was remodeled. His Mother and Father-in-law, who own the home hired us to do the work. All planning, material selection and scheduling were with his mother-in-law and her daughter. I did not meet Mr. Hughes until the project started and had only 3-4 brief encounters with him. His few questions were noted and addressed. We always cleared changes or scope issues through our actual client. Mr. Hughes never expressed this level of dissatisfaction during the course of the work. The project was completed and a final walk through with the client (father-in-law) netted 6-7 small items that were addressed within a day or so. The clients expressed their satisfaction with the project and full final payment was made. After this Mr. Hughes posted his first very negative review. When I contacted the client, his mother-in law, she was unaware that the review had been posted and claimed no knowledge of problems or dissatisfaction. Subsequently we were requested to attend to 3 minor warranty items and when completed his mother-in-law again stated they were very satisfied with the project. This latest review is extremely surprising and not representative of any communication I had with my clients. Gary Patton GBP Contracting, LLC."

It was good. He is perfectly willing to fix things that we have found. The clean up was good and had a cleaner came to clean before we moved back in. We were happy with his work. He is working on our other house. He was in line with several other bids. He came up with a design that the other companies didn't mention. We have been very satisfied with his work.

After we had a recent major rain storm, I discovered localized interior water damage to our home at two locations. The first location was from an exterior roof leak and the second location was from an exterior window leak. I contacted GBP Contracting regarding assessment and repair of the problems. Gary promptly returned my call and set up an appointment to come to our house. Gary arrived right on time and I showed him the problem areas. He did an inspection and took some photos and said he would quickly work up a repair proposal and e-mail to me. Gary was very professional, easy to talk with, and listened to me which I really appreciated. This was my first experience as a homeowner in dealing with water leak damage so I was anxious and Gary did a super job of explaining what was going on and really put my mind at ease. The proposal arrived quickly and contained a detailed description of the work to be performed, estimate of the cost, payment terms, and schedule. The work scope, cost, and schedule were very reasonable and I authorized work to start. Throughout the repair process, Gary kept in regular contact to tell me when workers would arrive and what work they would do. Some of the work was done by subcontractors and some by Gary and his staff. Gary did a great job coordinating the work done by his subcontractors. Everyone showed up on time and knew exactly what they needed to do. I was never left hanging and there were no surprises. The external problem areas at the roof and windows causing the rain leaks were identified and repaired. They then repaired interior damage to the drywall and textured and painted to match. All is now beautiful and leak-free. All in all we are very pleased with the work done by Gary and GBP Contracting. I appreciated his extensive construction expertise, professionalism, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail. We will definitely use GBP Contracting in the future and give them our highest recommendation. Super job all the way around !!!

Gary and his group were great from beginning to end. I began with an estimate to tile the common areas of the house, completely finish the hall bathroom, scrape off popcorn ceiling in the living room and retexture, install the hood vent over the stove, paint the entire interior of the home, and some other details. This was about half of what I really needed to finish inside, but that was all I wanted to commit to finishing at the time. I had previous contractors give me estimates, and they were horribly exaggerated. From the time those other contractors walked in, I could tell they were not interested in my job unless I was going to commit to them to do the entire house, and I was not ready to do that financially. Gary on the other hand understood and gave me an appropriate estimate for only the work I was asking for and said he'd be happy to give me an estimate for the rest when I was ready. He asked for a reasonable percentage down, outlined everything I needed in the project scope, which I approved, and his guys were able to start quickly.
I began working some odd evening hours right around the same time the project started, and Arne and the rest of Gary's crew helping on the project were extremely respectful and did their best to work with my schedule and allow me to sleep. Gary and his crew communicated well, helped me with some of my decision-making, and did a fantastic job. Everyone that was involved in working with the house was very personable, friendly, and trustworthy.
Because of the integrity I witnessed with Gary and his crew and the solid work I was seeing accomplished, I decided to have Gary give me an estimate for the other half of the inside work, which included popcorn ceiling removal and new closets in all three bedrooms, remodeling the master bathroom, and remodeling the large room at the back of the house including the bathroom and a new sliding patio door. Once again, Gary gave me a great estimate, and after some strong consideration, I chose to get that work done as well. I was going to have to stretch to make it work financially, but Gary, his team, and the work they were doing made it worth it. This was a perfect example of a business being able to win additional work through great customer service. The other contractors I received estimates from previously could have learned a thing or two from Gary's approach.
The whole job did not go perfectly. My house is older, and the back room added on by the previous owner among other things had not been done very well. Gary and his crew handled all of the oddities like true pros, though. There was a surprise with some unexpected tiling under the carpet in the back room, which needed to be taken up that added some to the project budget, but that was very reasonable and was really the only time Gary had to add anything on to the project cost. He even helped fix some things that previous "handymen" had done that were not done very well. Many times I would never even had known there was an issue if not for the honesty of the crew because of how well they handled things. At one point while installing one of the ceiling fans, Arne, one of Gary's crew that worked at my house a good deal, had accidentally dropped and broken the glass globe. It happened while I was off running errands, and I would not even had known it happened had Arne not told me about it when I got back. I wouldn't have known because he had researched and found the fan I purchased at Lowe's, went to the store and picked up the replacement, and had it installed as if it had never even happened by the time I got back. He easily could have pretended the accident had never happened, but that transparency demonstrates Gary and his crew's honesty.
Throughout the job and at the end, if there was anything that I spotted that I was not happy with or needed fixed, Gary and his guys were on it. The painter had missed a couple of things on the trim, and Gary quickly took care of it. The hot water regulator in the master bathroom shower needed to be adjusted to allow the water to get hotter after they were finished, and Gary sent his plumber over and adjusted it right away. I am very pleased with how everything went and how Gary and his crew handled everything. I have a good deal of work to do on the outside of the house once I get the finances built back up, and Gary will definitely be the person I call to get it done. Gary was straightforward, communicated well, gave solid estimates, and stood by the work. I would recommend Gary and his group to anyone.
Working with owner Gary and his crew was great. Gary came out and helped us with planning our re-model and selecting materials. His estimate was emailed in a couple of days. His payment schedule is appropriate, with a down payment for materials and later payments as each job is completed. From day one of construction, Gary was in constant contact either in person or by phone. Workers show up when promised, do good work and clean up. The best thing about Gary is his ability to deal with the unexpected complications that come with remodels, and there were many. We are very happy with the results.
It went very well. Gary and his crew did all the work in two weeks time from the demolition to the final painting. They were professional and prompt. They were very friendly and pleasant. They answered any questions we had and cleaned up the work site very well each day. I would definitely use them again.
Straight off the bat, let me start with saying I was tremendously pleased with both the final results of my recent remodel and the working relationship I had with Gary at GBP contracting. As my first major remodel, I had a lot of questions and took my time making choices. Gary was both patient and informative. Once the project started, I was in contact with Gary every day with progress and problems reported. It seems like a strange compliment to say he clearly outlined problems but as no remodel is free of bumps in the road , I sincerely appreciated knowing the details of both the good and the bad. For example there was a problem with getting delivery of my preferred trim. Gary offered alternatives which helped me make final decisions. I changed my mind about the paint color after disliking my first choice. Without any fuss, the painters came back the next day and made the change. The floor tile is beautiful. I had specialty shower tile that turned out better than I had even hoped. The remodel was a rousing success and I plan to use GBP for any future remodel projects without hesitation.

Just moved to Phoenix in October. I have a patio home with a carport that I wanted to convert into a garage.
After reading Angie's List I selected GPB. I needed drywalling, framing,
electrical, stucco, garage door, opener and painting. Gary is pretty
much a one man show and subcontracted the stucco, garage door and
painting. GBP did the framing and everything else, including buying the materials, getting the
permits and scheduling the inspections. I had two outlets added and two
outside lights added as well. The subs also did a good job, though the
stucco guys left somewhat of a mess that I had to clean up.. When they
came back for the finish coat, GBP yelled at them for that. GPB did
great work. I am a do-it-youself guy so I know how this works. I work
from home so I could see all that was going on. GPB missed one thing
that was required by the inspector and fixed that at his own expense. I
wanted a different paint on three doors and he also covered that at his
own expense. Job ran a little over the estimated finish date, but that
was a weather and scheduling issue and I know these things happen. He
was very punctual and was here when he said he would be.
All in all my wife and I are very happy. Gary is a craftsman in every sense of the word.
The only reason I gave a C on price is because I am not sure if the price I
got was good and have nothing to compare it to. I had lower estimates, but I would have to secure the
permits and buy some of the materials myself.
Gary was very responsive to my request for a bid and demonstrated in-depth knowledge, experience and professionalism. The work began about two weeks after the bid and specifications were accepted. Throughout the project I could see a real sense of quality workmanship and professionalism. The project turned out better than I had anticipated and working with Gary during the process was an absolute pleasure. I would recommend Gary to anyone wanting a serious professional working for them.

I like Gary's style of work. He is laid back and is very concern about making sure the customer is happy. If you ask him for changes halfway through, he will really try to accomodate you and charges very reasonable amounts for the alterations. Basically, he is flexible and does not get upset. I was happy with the outcome and the quality of work.. The only issue is that because he is mainly a one man business, speed is not his forte. However, he gave us a time estimate from the start that he was able to stick to pretty closely. He has old fashion customer service value and work attitude that I greatly appreciated. Most importantly I just alway felt that I could trust him and would never hesitate to use him again. As a matter of fact, if I decide to redo my bathroom in a year or two, GBP will be the first company I call.
