The service went okay. The technician did good work but he only spent a half hour on the job. He told me he had better things to do with his time instead of waiting for the computer to reboot. I feel like he should have stayed for the hour I paid for to make things were going the way they should. He had poor customer service. He was supposed to check on a bigger hard drive for me but never got back to me. I had no problem scheduling the deal.

Nice young man. He ran all sorts of scans which took some time. I asked if he would show me how to run the scans because I felt it wasn't the most efficient use of the time.

He called into his office a lot and hemmed and hawed. I was afraid it wild go over the hour for which I had paid, and although it did, a little, I was not charged anymore. He tried to sell me on other services/software, etc.
First, Geek Choice did not show up the first 2 or 3 times they were scheduled. Second, the representative was to set up a data transfer from a Mac to an external hard drive. After some time working on this task, he admitted that he was unfamiliar with Mac computers. As a result of his tampering, I was forced to take the Mac to a certified Apple repair service: the GC representative had altered the Mac in a manner which interfered with its normal functioning. Because of this, I had to spend an additional $500 and take significant time off from work to take the Mac to the repair service and pick it up. Third, the GC representative was also contracted to repair a Sony Vio laptop. After working on this unit for awhile, he stated that he could not readily fix the problem. Instead, he suggested that I switch my expensive Sony Vio for a cheaper laptop he had refurbished. He stated that the refurbished laptop was 100 percent functional and that there were no problems with it. In addition, he charged $200 for switching the computers. Not only was I charged for his "work" on the Mac, but he also charged me for his "work" on the laptop as well as charging me for the replacement computer. This amount came to approximately $500. Fourth, I later discovered that the computer he called a comparable unit to my Sony Vio was significantly cheaper. More importantly, the laptop had missing components--namely, a wireless card. Consequently, it could not be readily used with Wi-Fi. I have made numerous attempts to contact a supervisor at Geek Choice. Despite explaining the situation numerous times and receiving assurances that the suitable supervisor would contact me, no one had bothered to do so. It has been several months, and no one has addressed my concerns.
The service turned out very well. I paid an additional amount, and I was actually surprised, because I didn't expect the price to go over the $75 of the big deal. I don't know what happened, and I told the guy that I didn't understand what had happened, and if I had known, then I would be much more on top of the time he was spending here, and he was just working on my computer, and he can't even explain what he was working on at the time. I finally said that I was satisfied with them, because I did not expect it to go over, and if they had to do something, I expected the bill, and I have never received a bill for the price. They didn't explain to me what was going on. My computer had, and still has problems. Sometimes it turns on, and sometimes it doesn't turn on at all. They put a new anti modem thing, because I told them that I had bought a thing from the company originally, that was supposed to clean up any malware that I had on the computer, and I asked them to see what was wrong with it, and he didn't. Those bills are still on my credit card, and no one ever told me how to fix them. They got my computer to turn on, but I still have so many questions outstanding.

Everything was great. The technician showed on time, worked quickly, and did a good job in all respects. Ultimately, I was very happy with the service, and I'd use the company again.

Everything was O.K. when technician left. However, the next day (over the weekend), a number of the things that were O.K. on the day the technician was here, no longer performed on the following day. Since I had a commitment that I had to turn in by Mon., I felt extremely anxious about meeting that deadline. As somewhat of a desperate measure, I called another computer repair company I had used previously. They agreed to give me service on Sunday. It took quite a while for the 2nd company to get at the root of the problem (ex. - finding additional viruses that the Geek Choice technician had not located), and they got my computer up and running again. It still is.

I called Geek Choice to see about adjusting the fees I paid, since the service they rendered lasted such a limited period of time. They felt that there was little they could do now. They stated that - since they guaranteed all their work and, in addition, were committed to performing service 24/7, I should have called them back again - so they could work on my computer again. I explained that 1. I did not know of their guarantee and 2. did not know they were open 24/7 and 3. I was in a state of anxiety when I contacted the other company, so responded to my needs accordingly. Geek Choice offered to have their manager contact me. I waited 2 weeks, but no one called. I called again and, once again was told a manager would contact me. Several more weeks have now passed, but Geek Choice has not yet returned my calls.

I was really excited about recycling my old computer and there was like $10 recycling fee. He did great. He's very polite and knew exactly what he needed to do. The price was normally $100 and I got it for $75. There was a problem with communication with Angie's List. It seems like people communicate those message through Angie's List and no one ever called me. I didn't know that at first and then I went back to Angie's List and looked at my account and there were these messages so it took a while. On the other hand, what i needed was different in what I thought I needed. So it worked out well because in the meantime, my laptop crashed on my so I needed something different. He got the job done within the time specified so I was appreciative of that.
