"We appreciate the good evaluation of the first part of the job. At the beginning of the first day, when the drywaller/painter started the job, we informed the customer in writing that it will take longer than 2 days to complete the drywall finishing/painting job she wanted to get done. At that point the customer did not say that longer than 2 days completion was not what she expected. If she had thought that this job was a 2 day job, she should have said that the job should be completed in 2 days, according to her opinion, and we would not have continued with the job, because from the beginning it was clear that it was bigger than a 2 day job, and the customer was notified about it. When we got notified by a customer about left debris and cracked tile, we offered that we would come and remove painter's debris and see what we can do about fixing the tile. We were going to do both of it at no extra charge for the customer. Then the customer responded that she already took care of that. Then we offered that, because she had to take care of this, we can offer a half cost of a full 8 hour day labor. Cleaning debris and replacing cracked tile would have taken less than half a day labor. Therefore, we offered even more than to cover the cleaning of debris and replacing cracked tile."
"After the drawings were completed, it was verbally agreed that for the permitting process the customer was going to pay us $45 per hour. We did a few hours of permitting work - we submitted the drawings to DCRA, and got invoice from them for the half of the cost of DCRA review process (DCRA required 50% of the drawing review fee to be paid upfront), and submitted that invoice to the customer. This few hours of work we did not get paid for, and we were ok with not getting paid, since that was in return of the $200, which the customer mentioned in the review."
"This job was not only the faucet repair, but a number of different jobs. We did have the plumber available, but not the same day as the other handymen arrived. We did not charge $1,500 for several hours of labor. Our charge is usually about $50/hour per handyman labor. Approximately this rate was used for this job, as well. Also, we completed a few labor hours for free at this job as a discount. In order to change the shower faucet without opening the closet from the other side of the bathroom, we would have needed to get exactly same type of faucet as previously existing, which we did not find in a local store in stock. It could have been a special order, which may have taken long time to wait for, if at all available. We got a faucet, which we thought would work well as a replacement, showed it to the owner for the approval, and installed it. A separate trip to a store for plumbing material was needed, because we could only figure out, what material was exactly needed after making the opening, and the opening was made along with other jobs, which needed material for their completion, as well, therefore requiring a first trip to a store. Also, we made a separate trip to a store to search for the faucet, because it was first needed to determine, which kind of faucet to use, so that the plumber would later get correct plumbing material for the installation of the particular approved faucet."
