"[Member Name Removed] and Angel are great clients. They had wanted a particular look for the finished grout on their fireplace, unfortunately for them they communicated this wish after the work had been completed. They sent me some pictures showing the grout being very recessed a day late. All the same we built the fire place exactly as [Member Name Removed] had requested. George"
"These clients were very wonderful people to work for. We had a 4 day delay on the prior job due to needing to float 1300 sq.ft. in cement. This was a [Member Information Removed] last minute change by their designer that was not anticipated. Also when this client hired me for the job, he told me that I had the least expensive price of all other bidders. I guess he might have been slightly out of touch with current pricing. George"
"Response to the above review. 1- We showed up on time and completed our work in the allotted time promised. 2- We covered up all floors and work areas with drop clothes and plastic sheeting. 3- We delivered a tile job exactly as had been promised. - This included cleaning the floor down to bare concrete. ( large sanding machine ) -Installing an antifracture membrane ( Ditra by Schuter ) -Installing the 12"x24" rectified tile on a 1/3 subway pattern ( per customers request ) -The thinset ( setting cement ) of choice was an X-5 by Ardex ( the largest manufacturer of thinsets in Europe ). The X-5 being one of the best thinsets around today. - The grout used was an Epoxy grout called " Spectra Lock " manufactured by Laticrete. again " Sepectra Lock " is one of the very best epoxy grouts. - The customer researched all setting materials online and agreed to them prior to our commencing the work. This was in writing as part of her warranty. 4- The porcelain tile used was provided by the customer ( we did not buy it ). We were told to install what we had and did so. 5- The tile provided to us was a rectified tile. Most all large format tiles come this way today. Unfortunately rectified tile has inherent bowing in it. That is that the tiles are not completely flat. These tiles have a slight bow in the middle either in a convex or in a concave manner. This inherently causes lippage. The industry as a whole is aware of that, though a lot of consumers are not. The salesman that sold the tile should have addressed this matter, but evidently failed to do so, leaving the customer believing that the tile installation would have no lippage whatsoever. 6- Ansi rules and regulations ( 4.3.7 Lippage - guidelines , explanations and caution ) Clearly state that in table ANSI A137.1 that the allowable lippage on a tile that size is 1/32 of an inch. With the exception of 6 tiles ( that need to be replaced ) all tiles on this installation fall within this industry standard. 7- My conversation with some of the industry's best experts is that it is impossible to get a rectified tile totally flat with no lippage. There is just too much warpage in the tile. Furthermore the use of leveling spacers does not seem to eliminate this problem. 8- I personally also spoke with the grout rep, who assured me that the grout installation did not need to be redone. He said that it might be nice of me to touch up some spots. 9- I have reached out to this client several times in order to rectify the 6 tiles and to touch up the grout. She adamantly refuses and wishes a whole new tile job. 10- We are at a stage where I need to bring in an expert to view the job. 11- I have done a professional job and have tried to correct the issues that need addressing. I am now at an impasse with this client. She wishes a whole new job, and unfortunately will not get one under the industry standards and guidelines."
