"From the initial appointment to assess the problem, the customer was told that we DO NOT recommend just trying to repair this issue by replacing the grout. We did not know what the underlying issue was, or if this would correct the problem. We as a rule, do not do "repairs" to damaged tile, missing grout etc. We prefer to do the job correctly, which requires more extensive work. This customer was adamant that she wanted just the grout replaced, so we recommended epoxy grout to try to avoid issues as much as possible in the future. We could have just dug out the grout and replaced it with the same product she had initially. We were trying to help her as much as we possibly could. We conveyed verbally as well as in our estimate and our contract, that there was no warrantee on this repair, and that we had no way of knowing if this would fix the problem. The customer was aware of this fact from the beginning. She chose to go the less expensive route as a first option to fix, I assumed. The work was specifically stated to NOT be under warranty, for all the reasons listed above. When it came time to do the work, the color was a bit hard to find. We checked 5 different distributors and eventually found the correct color. This is not something that we had to do, we could have had the customer do this legwork, but we were trying to be helpful. As she states, 8 months later she had an issue with the grout. We were not under any contractual obligation to repair this, at all. But, as epoxy grout does not normally behave like this, we felt it only right to attempt to re-do the grout. When she contacted us expecting this work to fixed, we did contact her back and scheduled a day and time to do the work. I found out that day from the customer that my tile guy called her in the morning to reschedule. She was very upset and gave the impression that this was not what she wanted and that she was very unhappy. I was not pleased either and immediately called my tile guy and was told that she was not unhappy at all with the schedule change. I do not know exactly how the conversation went, but I know my tile guy to be a professional and kind person, so I believe she did not express her feelings to him. He did go and correct the issue and apologized for any inconvenience. This customer clearly did not listen to our recommendations or read the contract she signed. Regardless, we went above and beyond to satisfy her and I don't believe there was anything we could have done to make her happy."
