"First off I' sorry we did not connect. I called the number provided to inform the cleat that the home does not qualify for the "big deal" due to the 12/12 roof pitch. I called at least a half dozen times and was not able to leave a message. I simply wanted to tell the client to call AngiesList to cancel since the home did not qualify for the service. Again I'm sorry we did not connect. Angies List told me that the client was the only one that can cancel the service. So to the client please cancel the service. To Angies List…if you call the number provided you will get perpetual ringing. Thank you."

I was pleased to have G & C Home Remodeling Co. Inc. complete the evaluation of my home. I felt they did a thorough observation of the dwelling based on their professional experience. They forwarded me a complete evaluation in writing, that showed they are a professional and capable vendor. I feel there was an initial breakdown in communication, that has sense been improved. Thank you for the follow up and help.

They arrived as scheduled, did the job in two days and withe the extreme weather last year, I actually used less utilities than the year before. I am thankful I had the job done, and I thank them for their expertise.
This was an Angie's List deal. After this past winter, recent rain storms, tornado warning and hail in Tully, I decided to purchase the roof maintenance package to have my roof inspected and maintained. I purchased the roof maintenance deal on 6/16 and Paul from G&J was able to come to the house on 6/17, the next day. They found and corrected minor issues (cracks, raised nails) and replaced a few missing shingles. Paul assured me that having done this roof maintenance will help to extend the life of the roof for a few more years, but said that a roof replacement would be needed in the next 3 to 5 years. The estimated cost would be around $18k for the roof replacement. Though, I wasn't happy to hear about the roof replacement, I was glad to have done the minor roof repairs that bought me some time to save for the roof replacement.
While they were here, I asked about repairing a detached fascia board that held some gutters and if a cracked skylight needed to be replaced. They will setup a time to repair the detached board (estimate $550). The cracked skylight did not need immediate replacement since the inner window was still intact and the plastic membrane still seemed to be intact - preventing water from coming in. At some point, the skylight will need to be replaced, but the need was not immediate.
Immediately after this company finished the work and cleaned up (very nicely, I might add), I wrote a review for Angie's List, which I continue to stand by 150%. The reason for this update is, that after all of this time (a few years now) and all the various weather conditions the job has been tested with, I can honestly say that I would have them come again - and again - in a heartbeat. House continues to look "new" and lovely, no dings, no breaks, no color stripping or fading, absolutely nothing to complain about. Thank you for this opportunity to update my original bright and shining review. And thank you again, G&J Home Remodeling Co, Inc.
Shari Carter
I have to say that this was the best experience I have ever had with a contractor and I've had many. Paul did everything that he said he would when he said he would do it. Paul didn't just put siding and porches on my home he transformed it. Paul and his crew throughout the project went out of their way whenever I had a question or concern. The quality of their work was exceptional and the price couldn't be beat they were thousands less than any other contractor. My only regret is that I wasn't able to post before and after pictures (not that tech savy) those pictures truly would have told the whole story. If you're looking for a contractor you'd be crazy to go anywhere else.
I called Paul, an owner of G & J Home Remodeling, to talk about replacing roofing materials and replacing part of a shed on the back of the house. Paul stopped that day and looked at the condition of the roof. He said the shingles on the steepest part of the roof would not leak and didn't need to be replaced for several years. The materials on the flat roof needed replacing, as did the shingles on the garage roof.
He sent two proposals: a smaller one for the flat roof, garage, and shed, and a larger one that added the rest of the roof. We were pleased that he provided these two options. I doubt many contractors would be so forthcoming.
Paul didn't expect to be able to start the work until spring 2014, but he was able to do the job earlier, in fall 2013 (starting in October). After part of the shed was removed, we decided to have a storm door installed on the rear. Paul made a recommendation about what brand to buy, where to buy it, and when the door arrived at the store, he picked it up and had it installed. The door turned out have good features and was of excellent quality and reasonably priced.
We asked Paul about having rain gutters installed and he recommended a company to do that job. It was a seamless gutter company highly recommended on Angie's List.
There were a few small issues to fix and Paul saw to it that they were promptly attended to.
The workers employed by G & J were reliable and performed their jobs well. They left the site clean when the job was completed. We were very impressed with G & J Home Remodeling. When the time comes to replace shingles on the rest of the roof, we plan to call Paul at G & J.
They were receptive to all my questions and any concerns I had. When the job was completed, I asked to have some more sanding done and they were happy to do what I wanted . It was refreshing that they required no money until the job was done and I was completely satisfied. I would certainly ask them to do any further work I may need.
Overall I am very happy with the work they did, their work crew was on time every day, usually 4 guys, sometimes only 2 depending on the work being done for that day, and overall it was about 2 weeks project to get the work done. They were friendly and informative of the process daily, and they did a really good job of cleaning up everything at the end of each day, just found a few odd nails or siding pieces, but nothing large after the work was done.
The owner Paul would stop by regularly to check on the work and speak with my wife to check on everything. If he needed to speak with me, he was easy to get in contact with while I was at work. He was able to make minor changes as requested during the work, including some addition trim wrap around my front and back doors and wrapped the corner post on my front porch. The man who installed the windows and interior trim was very helpful, he installed new window treatments we had purchased for us as well. They did an excellent job of removing an old chimney and patching up for hole in the wall and floor that was created, they did the mud-work and sanded it down so I could easily paint it. All the interior window trim was prepped and ready to paint as well. Paul and his team did a lot of little extras at no cost to us, and I was very pleased with the results. Early in the project, Paul has his team come back on a weekend to fix some of the roof underlay that had blown up from heavy winds the same day I called him.
Our house is much warmer so far this winter, we have not had to put plastic up on all the windows to try to keep the drafts out like we have been doing the last 10 years. It seems like my furnace has been running much less than last year, although I haven't gotten a recent utility bill to show the differences yet. And best of all, the house just seems more solid, it no longer creaks and groans in heavy winds like it used to, in fact I hardly hear the wind and noise outside with the new windows and the insulation under the siding.
I would highly recommend G&J, they maintained their commitment to the estimates they provided, he discussed cost changes in advance of work being done, and was always available to speak with when I had a question.

I trust the owner Paul. I am going to have them install a new garage roof. I have been very pleased with them. They have also put new shutters on the house. If you have any problems they will come right back and fix the issues. They are very responsible.

Originally all went well. Developed water leak from a bathroom window. This caused major water damage to the ceiling in room below bathroom. Called to have Problem checked and corrected. Told caulking around window was a 2 year warranty and problem was our to correct. Offered no resolution based on quality of work or faulty installation. Problem ours to deal with since caulking around window only a 2 year warranty. Shoddy installation. Not reputable!!!!
Response from G & J Home Remodeling Co Inc
"While working on the windows throughout the home we repaired almost every windows exterior trim which we did not originally install. The issues were related to the workmanship of the builder of the home. We were hired to replace all the windows with new and we went above and beyond that when we did the project. There were several areas where the siding leaked water and we corrected all those areas. The cedar siding on the home needs to be maintained around the windows especially when the gable ends of the home have no roof overhang.and six year after the work was completed this issue resulted in water getting in between the siding and the winnow trim. The home was poorly engineered and now the homeowners feel it is all our fault. They failed to realize or remember how much effort we put into correcting the issues around the windows of the entire home. The wall where this window siding and trim intersection leaked was west facing and needs to be maintained by sealing the siding around the window. Caulk does not last forever. Cedar siding also needs to be painted or stained every three years and at that point whom ever paints the siding should also seal around intersections where caulk has separated. The home has still yet to be painted or stained six years later. I offered to pay the homeowner to pay the man working on the bathroom to reseal everything and do the necessary repairs and never heard from him or the homeowner again. This was at least a year ago. We stand behind all our work and even when we are not responsible for the issues we still offer to fix it or pay to fix it. I'm not sure why we were not contacted after I told the homeowner exactly that."

Good work crew. Responsive to requests.
The crew removed a roof sheathing panel and allowed me to do work inside attic as agreed. A crew member even helped to finish insulating in attic.
When house as initially constructed (1992 - 93) it was not wrapped in TYVEK. But, after removing old clapboard and discovering this, the G&I work crew, rather than place TYVEK underneath new cedar clapboard, crew just installed tar paper on sheathing, then put clapboard on this.
Also, the job was a bit pricey.
I was extremely satisfied with Paul (the owner) and his crew. Satisfaction began with the estimate process. Paul and I discussed what I wanted to do and we discussed various ideas and options. Since G&J was not the first contractor that I spoke with, I pretty much knew what I wanted to do, and what needed to be done. I had all the contractors bid to the same base specifications, and then later on options (e.g., upgraded Anderesen screens. BTW worth every penny for the clear view they provide.) as the base price along with the option pricing would determine what we could afford to do. Like they say always get more than one bid! Price isn't everything. G&J provided excellent pricing and and execllent quality. Paul's estimate was the most reasonable of the estimates that we received, which allowed us to remove a decrepit concrete patio and have installed a very nice composite deck (24x14) with a composite railing system. We were extremely happy with the estimating process. Paul was patient with us in pricing out each option, especially for the windows. His suggestions for the siding especially for the lineals around the Andersen windows really makes the house pop!! His work crew was very polite, on-time, clean and professional. If I or the wife had any questions either Paul or his crew would explain in detail, and if we had any concerns they were addressed immediately. BTW there weren't many. I will give one example, where Paul showed his true colors. The workers dropped a window they were removing, and the glass shattered and was in the lawn. Paul personally came over to assist in picking out the shards of glass from the lawn. He was on his hands and knees for a good two hours picking through the grass in the area where the window shattered. Now that is customer service!!
His explanation of how the deck was to be constructed inspired confidence that we had the correct company for the job. Also, his ability to think out of the box and offer solutions that were money saving and yet acheived our goal were most welcome. Other contractors when they saw the concrete patio to be removed, either balked and would only quote for the deck and said removal of the concrete pation is your concern, or even proposed building the deck over the concrete patio. Paul immediately stepped up to the task and said, I will find you a company to remove the patio. He understood why the patio had to be removed. Over the years it settled and was now sloped towards the house. Paul understood that we wanting to solve a problem for the long term, and not just do things for the shortterm. Another example to save work on drywall work and painting, he suggested we use larger inside framing for the windows. Looks much better than the previous framing. really makes the inside windows pop.
In addition, the workmanship, professionalism, and price of what was done on my house convinced my neighbor to also have G& J come over and put a new roof on and side the house with vinyl siding. My neighbor knows that I put all my contractors through he wringer, and felt very secure that if I chose G&J then that's good enough for my neighbors. Based on my experience I highly recommend G&J and the crew that worked on my house
