G.L. Hunt Foundation Repair

Foundation repair crew did a great job no complaints. I choose to go with this company because the lower bid of the 3 companies. The only possibility of up charge mentioned was if the piers had to go past 20 feet. Crew shows up as scheduled within an hour the superintendent shows up and notices some "potato rock" in the pile where they began to dig and immediately throws around a $350 per hole charge because of the rock and having to use chippers to help dig the rock was only present within the first 6 inches of ground i don't know a Foundation company that just digs with just a shovel and not having to use digging equipment to dig. This is San Antonio and there isn't any sand here $3000 additional charge on top of the bid which defeated the purpose of choosing them. I should have read the contract in full but 3k cause of rock come on!! They use this tactic in contract to make up the difference to charge from what other companies offer. Lesson learned don't go with the cheaper bid there's always a fine print.

It was so nice to have a contractor do what they promised, keep me informed when anything changed, follow through after the job, and charge a reasonable price. I couldn't be happier.

We had 5 companies come out and give us a quote, by far this company was the most knowledgeable and professional. Chris took the time to answer our numerous questions, even before we decided to go with them. On the day the work was supposed to start , the crew was early, professional, and all around nice. They found an issue, and the superintendent Javier came out and explained in detail what needed to be fixed additionally. This was a builder error, and they corrected it. I never once had to chase them for information, or finishing the job. The follow up for our water test was scheduled one day after the job was completed. We could not have asked for a better company or crew to work on the stressful situation of foundation work our home needed. Kudos to all, and we will be recommending your company to anyone who needs foundation work. Thank you again!!

This company and the supervisor & crew were outstanding. They arrived on time every day & worked in the heat, cold & rain After the job was completed they cleaned up the area like they had never been there. Everyone was very professionally

they did the job improperly twice and then are difficult to schedule and then when I finally do schedule them they don't show, and then I no show on 1 occasion they charge me 250$ and put lien on my house, I would stay away from this compan

G.L. Hunt cut 2 electrical wires and damaged one of the vents during the installation of 14 crawl space vents. G.L. Hunt's initial position was that they were not responsible for cutting the electrical wires and that I would have to pay for the repairs. They sent their quality expert out to review the damage who told me that the wires were not visible and that they couldn't have foreseen cutting the wires and by contract, they were not liable for the repairs. (see picture below - the wires were clearly visible) . After escalating the issue, I got G.L. to knock off $325 dollars to cover the repairs (at this time, it's not clear if this is enough to cover the repair bill), but they would not repair the damaged vent. Overall, very disappointed in how they handled the job. Mistakes happen and when they do, you find out what type of company you are dealing with. If I wouldn't have stood my ground, they would not have compensated me for the cut wires and for some reason, they refused to repair the damaged vent. (after initially offering to repair the vent)

It’s important to hire people who have experience in their field. I had quotes and explanations from four companies and felt confident that I can trust Chuck and his plan. This was confirmed by my insurance company and the municipality’s inspection. Even my tenant said that unlike the others, Chuck took longer time and explained the three plans he had thoroughly. He sent me the plans right away. Upon contacting him, he set me an appointment with their financing department and the loan officer was very helpful in choosing the right loan for me. Alesha contacted me to schedule the repairs and she was professional yet friendly. Their work was inspected by two different plumbers and the municipality’s engineer and all went well. Their work is guaranteed and this gives me peace of mind.

Great up till the work started. They use sub contractors. Beginning of day 2, I get a change notice adding 30% ($2536) for 8ft sonotubes in my crawspace. After they dug, I measured several holes myself and found them (77in, 70in, 69in, 65in). Was told they would dig deeper. Making our home more stable. I talked with the crew. They said they could not but Not to worry because they hit rock. The footer would be solid. I asked them to make final measurements before pouring cement. Never got them. I complained. so they came out Re measured in took a little off ($589) For concrete footers - their crew literally refilled the footers with dirt and threw concrete on that. To make it appear they are concrete footers. I have pics. This morning at 8:30 I get a collection call less than a week later. No post measuring. No ER report. No post plumbing test. All we’re included as charges in my scope of work.

From beginning to end, Brucks, Call team, and Crewmen were awesome and Professional. Made the best solution for our home. They understand that build was made concrete and made the adjustments for situation.

PLEASE READ THIS!!!! DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM. They don't honor their contracts. They repaired my foundation in 2011 and gave me a 20 year warranty that was transferrable should I ever sell my home. I moved out and misplaced the paperwork, so I called the company to provide me with replacement documents. They acknowledged that they did the work, but said they couldn't find any documents even though they just admitted that they did the repair, and flat out refused to honor their agreement. So apparently their guarantees/warrantees mean NOTHING to them. They will not return my phone calls. Please use some other firm that HONORS their agreements.

This job went very well. The project manager was thorough (he provided a schematic with work to be completed) and offered three options (good, better, best). Likewise, he returned a second time to review the three estimates in detail. Of four estimates I got, Hunt was the only one to be that thorough and attentive. (To put into context, one small company was a no show on the estimate meeting, another large regional company was one month out in getting us an estimate meeting date. Another would have the "little gal" in the office send an estimate...sorry, we don't hire misogynists. The low bid had no physical address, etc.) Hunt's price was in the middle on a per/pier price. No sales pressure, but rather informative. Additional, un-estimated work and cost was required ($875 or 4%) but that was partially based on inspection engineer overzealousness as I see it, no fault on Hunt's part. One worker left cigarette butts in my yard driveway, but that was taken care of just by asking for it to stop. Hunt needs to provide restroom facilities for some workers, but otherwise workers were super courteous. Invoices are easy to pay. I also paid in three parts (before, during, upon completion). I received a lot of texts, emails, and even a phone call asking about how the job was going...maybe too many...but you can't fault a company for being too inquiring about their work. All work started on time and was completed when estimated. I would recommend G. L. Hunt to anyone.

G. L. Hunt came out out and put in 9 all steel pillers to resettle my foundation. The work crew arrived on time and got right to work. Originally the job was supposed to take 2 days however the were able to complete it in one day. They cleaned up very well afterwards. Jesus whom came out originally has been very helpful before and after, answering questions, helping through the financial process, helping with following up process. Alesha in finance has been helpful also with both the initial process and afterwards. This by far has been a very good experience.

All the work was done in one day and the crew did not mind that i watch them for a short time. Very polite and my yard was left in the exact same condition as when the started. I would definitely recommend them. /DLMc

I hate to write a negative review but it is the only way I know to get G.L. Hunt to take a step back and review every aspect of their work processes. Crew arrived promptly when scheduled to begin work without any introduction. Nobody in the crew wore a shirt identifying them as a G.L. Hunt hire. Crew was polite, and respectful; however, I quickly learned they could not speak fluent, conversational English. The crew were not supervised on day one....no foreman or supervisor of any type. I was unable to get answers to my questions because of the language barrier. On the second day, a large group of workers arrived and I asked one person if he was in charge and he said "no." I later found out he was in fact the foreman for my project. My sales rep, Dustin Ruhd, never showed up or called me during the two day project or provided any follow-up to see how the project was going. Fortunately, Jesse Rabadan, QC Manager, came to my home and later in the evening called me to discuss questions I had that the crew could not answer. I will say the crew worked diligently and should be commended for working continuously other than a lunch break. G.L. Hunt is a good company that means well but needs major training in communication, project management and basic project supervision. The deficiencies I encountered in their quality management are too many to mention here. However, here is an example: my neighbor had her foundation repair done by G.L. Hunt a week before my project. After completing her job, approximately 6 Zone 1 sprinkler wires were cut by the work crew and were buried without being repaired. When my neighbor discovered her Zone 1 was not operating, she complained to Hunt and they began a search of where the wires may have been breached. When the crew found the cut wires, they attempted a repair with gorilla tape. My neighbor and I insisted that they obtain waterproof wire connectors, which they subsequently did. Someone in the crew knew the wires were cut but never said anything. Sprinkler wires reconnected and wrapped in gorilla tape will work but will eventually short out because it is not a waterproof connection. If your hire Hunt, be prepared to stay in the middle of their work because it is likely you will not see any management involvement to review worker production or quality. Good luck.

We have used GL Hunt for foundation repair for 9 years. In 2011 we were impressed with their customer service and warranty. We referred them to just about anyone who would ask (they offered a referral fee). In 2011 they leveled the front part of our home and returned in 2013 for warranty repair on that work. In 2015 they came back and did $10,000 work in the same area. These first visits they were responsive, friendly and it seemed like good value for money. Things changed in 2018, mainly from the administrative side. It took 6 months to schedule an appointment and they have a partnership with a plumbing company and require their plumbers to come and inspect before they come for a service call. The warranty is now nonexistent (GL Hunts warranty made them a good value, they are much more expensive than the competition) and they do not return phone calls. And now they used Subs rather than doing their own work. We are bringing them out one more time (October 2020) but I think it will be the last time. After $50,000 spent in the last 9 years, you would expect better service. I was a fan, but not so much anymore

Most professional contractor I have ever worked with from the site project managers to the office staff. Very understanding, prompt and quality work. Warranty is honored and truly a team of experienced professionals. I highly recommend them.

G. L. Hunt was awesome to deal with and their crew did an excellent job lifting the foundation of my home. In my case, the foundation was tilting and causing cracks in my walls and I was unable to open my back door. After the lift, most of the cracks sealed themselves up and the back door now opens freely. I am really pleased the the work of the G. L. Hunt crew. They were very professional and kept me informed on everything they were doing. I would highly recommend G. L. Hunt for any foundation lifting needs. Thank you!

Just wanted to let you know that this crew was GREAT. Alex and his crew made me feel like I was the only customer. They were so attentive, responsive to any concerns or questions I had and took immediate action if it was needed. Your company will be the only company I will recommend. It was professional and super friendly from the first meeting with Dustin, the Officer Personnel up to the last day with Alex and his crew saying thank you for my business. My neighbor even made comments how friendly the crew was and she was impressed at how great they cleaned up afterwards.

The repair went well but not quite an A. It will be years (hopefully) before I will be able to evaluate if the repair stabilized the foundation. The one issue I had was that there does not appear to be enough office staff. I was told several times that I would be contacted or receive things and had to follow up (sometimes multiple times) to receive what I asked for. I was told by one office staff member that they are so busy that they sometimes miss getting things done that they commit to.
