I've had a couple of problems and was not able to get them come back for fol;low up. 1st- The controller for Mr. Steam installed without waterproof membrane and it shorted out. 2nd- The control board for the steam generator shorted out due to improper wiring. They did not tighten the wires when they put it in together so it burn the solenoid and and burn the wires. Mr. Steam repairman told me that I could have had fire.

We don't usually write bad reviews. This would be the first... But we are just very upset with this company at this moment. Please note that this review is written two years AFTER the project. We hope that this review will help others. This was our first remodeling project that we have ever done in our house and in our life in general. We knew we were overpaying by hiring a company, but we hoped that we are safer with a larger company. Now we are not sure it was a good choice. We had no issues with the people who were working in our house. They did well. We had and continue to have (two years later after the job was "completed") a lot of issues with the company and management. Be careful when hiring them. If you are like us, and you do not know much about construction or permits, I would advise against hiring GoodFellas. We had issues with the following: 1) The work was completed one month after the promised date. Granted, the work was extended - we added the floors to the three rooms upstairs. Initially, I asked for an estimate for the floors and said that I wanted to do them later. But I gave in to a strong push from the project manager to do it right away. So I gave in. They still promised that they would finish by the original date in August 2016 because I reiterated many times how important it its to us that the job is finished on time, but they finished it in September 2016, one month later. The installation of the floors could not be the reason for it as it went very fast. They took about 3 days for the floor installation. 2) I feel that one of the problems with the work was that they did not work every day. There were gaps of 2-4 days between the jobs. When I brought it up at the final inspection, they said that we were not given adequate attention because the project manager was handling two projects at the same time, one in Los Angeles and one in Orange County. One of them was ours. The projects were very far distance-wise, and he could not give enough attention to our home. We felt it was a very weak excuse. After all, they signed up for the job, and there was an end date to the job, which was not met. 3) During the final inspection, the project manager was not there. I think he was out of town. Someone else came and after I complained about the duration of the project, they said that they would give us the warranty of 3 years compared to the usual 1 year. The warranty was another reason why we hired this company. I asked for some paper that would state it, and the response was that we would be in their database so it is not a problem. (Did I mention this was our first remodel?) Read on. 4) A month ago, which would be almost two years after the project was completed, we received a letter from the city that our permits were expiring. We called and were told that the permits have never been finalized. So the inspectors would come and tell the contractors what they needed to fix, and I guess after that, they did not call for a final inspection. We paid $1400 for the permits. So as it turns out, the permits have never been finalized. We called GoodFellas, and they informed us that they are now a different company (with the same website, phone number, and the picture of the project manager who did the job in our house.. ), and we are not in their database. However, they asked us to e-mail them a list with the corrections issued by the inspectors. We did that, and we never got the response. So... no trace of our three-year warranty and we cannot finalize the permits because the contractors need to be in the house when the inspectors come. Because the company says that they don't know us anymore (though they wanted an e-mail with the list of corrections…), they are saying that they can’t help us. *I think I wrote previous reviews for the contractor/company because we were promised a discount if we did that. I did it in the very beginning of the job, and I regret it. Needless to say, our next remodel will be very different.

Ran and his team did a beautiful job on our full kitchen remodel. An older home can be challenging to work with but they navigated our project with a focus on quality and our happiness with the finished product. Everyone who came through to work cleaned up after themselves daily, and were very considerate of our blind senior dog. We ended on time as budgeted. This was our first project of this size, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Sometimes contractors say "Don't worry" and oh boy, you BETTER worry so it was nice to be in capable hands when unforeseen issues presented themselves. I will say it is helpful for you as the homeowner to be prepared with the design direction and have the materials ready to go--I think that helped keep us on track. High quality work, flexible dealing with an older home and the people they recommended for the cabinets and counter were equally skilled. Thanks for making my dream kitchen a reality!!

They were wonderful. Everybody that came that worked was a gentleman. Everyone always acknowledged me when I went out to ask a question. The man who runs the company was wonderful, the man who headed up the roofing explained everything; he helped me up on the roof so I could see everything. The painter brought me samples and listened to what I wanted. The clean up was wonderful, they were just great, they were wonderful! They could be a little bit neater. There was tar -- we have a flat roof -- and they took off tar and rock and they replaced all of the broken plywood and shattered plywood. They took over 4 tons off of the roof of rock and tar. The lazy man patches were all repaired, and there was tar on the walk way and the driveway. They did clean it up, they got rid everything, but we eventually walked it in to the house and stuff like that; just neater.

From the very beginning we had concerns about this company. The project manager did very little oversight. He only took care of problems, and there were many, after we called to complain. To be fair we did make design changes after work started but the company should have been better at adapting. Originally we were told the kitchen would be done in 4-5 weeks. It took over 4 months. Ran, the project manager and other contractors involved had a vision of how they wanted the kitchen to look but that did no coincide with our design. We had to argue repeatedly over the kind of cabinets and the style of backsplash. It made the whole project very stressful. The quality of the work done by their subcontractors was very inconsistent. The electrician started the rewiring by knocking holes in all our walls and then didn't come back for over a week. The people who came back to patch the holes were terrible. It took at least 3 different crews to come in before work was completed and there are a number of places around switches that are still not done correctly. Just a few other subcontractor highlights. A plumber told us our water heater was broken because he couldn't get the pilot relighted. We got it lit ourselves soon after he left. During demo one of the workers did not bring tools and had to borrow ours. A plumbing vent pipe was pulled out of the roof and not reinstalled properly. We still don't have an electric meter. When the electrician installed a ground wire he broke a sprinkler pipe. In the end we are happy with the kitchen, but it was not worth the stress and hassle dealing with Goodfellas. If you are doing a remodel we definitely recommend using a different company.

"Hello, We're sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. However, a huge part of the delay was due to the fact that you went on vacation for a majority of the renovation we had to reschedule our team a plethora of times. Another factor that delayed your renovation was due to the fact that you changed your mine on the cabinets and we had to cancel, re-order and wait for the new cabinets. The Project Manager did oversee your job many times when no one was home making sure that everything was done to the highest quality in a timely manner. Again we apologize for your experience we welcome you to call our team at 877.728.9611 to speak to our General Manager. All the Best, GoodFellas Construction"

We obtained estimates and formulated plans with many different contractors/companies to upgrade our very outdated and non-functional 1960’s kitchen. We almost gave up but then we met Danny Gold from the Encino office of Goodfellas Construction. In our initial meeting with Danny he was able to quickly understand our goals, offer solutions, explain in detail “how” tasks would be performed and “why” they needed to be done in a particular manner. In addition to patiently answering our multitude of questions, Danny offered a great deal more information in our meetings and it was quite clear he had our interests and budget as a priority. He has a delightful personality and he gained our trust by being accessible, promptly scheduling the work, quickly addressing issues and being very customer service oriented. His showroom suggestions helped a great deal when we were selecting materials. We started with the kitchen but as we quickly became comfortable with the quality of the work we added other rooms that were in need of repair and updating. Our project turned out to be fairly large, as it ultimately became a kitchen, dining room and powder room upgrade. Daniel was assigned as our project coordinator. He has a keen eye for detail and was responsible for tying up any loose ends and keeping things moving. With the multiple trades involved we were assigned a general contractor, Amir, who expertly choreographed the various tradesmen in order to minimize downtime as much as possible. We were inundated with workers handling, demo, electricity, plumbing, flooring, drywall and painting, cabinets, countertops, etc. but either Daniel, Amir, or both came almost daily to check on the progress of the various teams, address any issues and answer any questions we had. We have an older house and even though the Goodfellas teams are good at what they do, we learned the hard way that unexpected events are not always created for television ratings! During the process we discovered that our foundation was sinking and unstable due to years of water erosion under the house. Fortunately the timing of the kitchen demo was a blessing in that the foundation was accessible for the repairs. Although pretty much unavoidable, it was exasperating to have so many things in progress simultaneously. However, Danny brought in an expert foundation foreman, Shaul, and his team who worked with our general contractor and project coordinator to expedite the necessary repairs to properly secure our foundation, all the while making sure we were pleased with the work that was done. It would be foolish to embark upon a remodeling endeavor and expect that there would be no issues. Some of our plans required adjustments and creative solutions. Some of the work created a need for additional repairs by other tradesmen. With so many people involved, communication between the various independent tradesmen sometimes became challenging especially when the detailed work of one trade affected another. For these reasons, and to coordinate our portion of the project, we found it very important to be involved throughout the process. No matter what the issues, the best part about working with Danny, Daniel, Amir and the entire Goodfellas team has been their responsiveness and willingness to address everything patiently, professionally, and with a sense of humor that has been very much appreciated. Their mission has been our satisfaction and their work (as well as their work ethic) has reflected that mission.

We needed to have both bathrooms in a two bedroom condominium remodeled and it was proving quite difficult to find a contractor. The price quotes for the job were very divergent and many, after the initial visit, never submitted a bid or answered our telephone calls which got super frustrating. Finally we got an appointment with Tom and Lucas who showed up on time, even a bit early, went over the job with us, gave an estimate, assured us that everybody working on the jobsite would be properly licensed, bonded, and insured and all permits would be pulled and all inspections would conducted. They impressed us with their youthful energy, sincerity, attention to detail and stating that all work would be up to code. They promised that there would be no unexpected cost overruns and that the job would be done on time. They are not the cheapest, but after talking to a lot of people, and getting a lot of estimates, we understand that bathroom remodeling is simply costly. The job is well towards completion and everything so far has been great and the bathrooms will look fantastic!

I have a lot of items that I store in the bathroom, and my bathroom that I had before the remodeling project had zero place for storing things, which meant that everything was either on the counter of the vanity or on the floor. It was a big cluttered mess. The bathroom I have now fixed all my storage issues: we put in new shelves and niches for all my cosmetics and shampoo bottles. And now I actually have space to move around! I have Tom and Lucas to thank for this. They did a great job not only with my master bathroom, but with the two others as well. I wanted a nice clean and white look with subway tiles. I know many people look down on subway tiles, so I was already expecting Tom and Lucas trying to talk me out of it. But they didn’t. They took my wishes to heart and executed them. Which was the case with all the decisions I made. If I was uncertain, they offered extremely helpful advice and suggestions, but they made sure that I was getting the bathroom that I wanted. I really enjoyed working with them and will hire them again if I can come up with another project for them to work on.

From the very get go, I knew that Tom and Lucas were the right choice because they made me feel like my remodeling project was the most important thing going on. I never felt rushed by them and they always made me feel that my concerns and questions were important, which is not the feeling I got from most project managers I met. I was often uncertain about certain things to buy or select for the project, but they put me at ease there as well, because they would often go shopping with me for items or help me choose the fit for the project. They are really extremely accommodating and helpful. That is why I wanted to write this review so that Tom and Lucas earn your business as well, because they will really serve you very well.

Throughout the years, I have worked with many contractors, most of which disappointed in some shape or form. In contrast, Tom and Lucas were a complete pleasure to work with. They were always on time, always did what they said they would do (and more sometimes). Whenever I had questions they were always available and ready to help. They soon gained my trust and confidence that they could finish the job to my utmost satisfaction, which meant that I could actually relax and have fun during the process. And whenever I did have extra requests, they were always happy to make it work for me. I will definitely hire them again if I ever need more work done in my home.

Tom and Lucas, who oversaw the project, were great to work with. Before meeting with them, there were a few things I was uncertain about whether they could be achieved or not, but their go-to attitude and problem-solving skills easily took care of that, and we found a great solution. We have some elderly neighbors that we wanted to make sure not to bother with the construction noise and everything involved, and Tom and Lucas were very considerate and accommodating, and completely willing to work around everyone’s needs. Such a great experience. I’m thinking about redoing my bathrooms now (because that’s something that’s a bit overdue), and will definitely hire Tom and Lucas for the job when the time comes.

Goodfellas Construction has been spectacular on my bathroom renovation. Built in 1940, the two bedroom one bath house had never had a major renovation. Usually just maintenance to solve what was required to fix an immediate problem. The bathroom was the obvious choice for a renovation starting point - the small shower stall (like a closet with water), cast iron tub, linoleum floor, old pipes and inadequate lighting were really depressing. After asking friends and neighbors and driving by construction sites, I found GOODFELLAS and called to set up a meeting. Danny Gold came to the house, and we talked about what I wanted in the renovation. Based on our discussion, he wrote up a fair estimate and specified the things I would be responsible for providing and the things that Goodfellas would provide. This approach allows the homeowner to personalize the project - you get to select the materials for flooring, vanity, plumbing fixtures, etc. so you have control of what the finshed project will look like. Danny Gold remained the focal point of the construction management effort. He was always available for questions or guidance throughout the project. He is personable and knowledgeable and is always aware of how his subcontractors are progressing. Goodfellas started in the bathroom, but as I could see the resullts of their work, the scope of the project enlarged - Re-pipe, Drain line upgrade, Electrical upgrade, Forced Air furnace replacement and painting. Goodfellas brought in their specialty subcontractors and never failed to please. The subcontractors were always on time, and ready to work for as long as it took to finish. Considering the extent of the work being done, the level of inconvenience for me was always a priority. Contractors left the job as clean as possible, and kept me in the loop as to what was going to happen next and when they would be finished with each subsequent phase. Goodfellas worked well with the City of Glendale permitting department, Department of Water and Power and the individual inspectors that certified the work. At each inspection, a Goodfellas representative and the subcontractor were available to answer any question or concern that arose. I like Goodfellas so much I’m going for the kitchen remodel next week.

This company lacks integrity, professionalism, and pride in workmanship. I would highly recommend you to find another contractor before it's too late!! I am surprised that they have received so many awards via Angie's List since this has been my worst experience in ~10 years while using this forum to find the right company for the right jobs. We interviewed a total of 3 contractors, with high ratings on Angie's List, prior to hiring Goodfellas from Encino. Sharon told a good story and hit the points we felt were important,...no subcontractors, stated they will seal the area in plastic to minimize dust, and will have a dedicated crew for the project. The remodel started on 19 Sep 16 with an estimated completion date of 1 Nov. 16. Final inspection didn't occur until 19 Dec 16. During the demo phase, 1 person did the demo and a project manager directed him (no actual physical work from him). They brought only a hammer (no saw-all, trash cans, etc). They failed to seal the area off in plastic prior to beginning of work which created dust throughout the house. My wife ended up hanging the plastic herself after the first week. When it was time for the initial rough-in inspection, the inspector looked at the work in disbelief. The plumbing and electrical was not to code which any licensed plumber or electrician would have known. I do not believe Goodfellas was using licensed plumbers or electricians (save on cost) for the job. I actually believe they used day laborers picked up from outside of Home Depot for some of the work. The water valves for the shower were not installed with the proper wrenches resulting in rounded nuts which I sure hope won't need to be replaced soon. The copper water lines were not securely fastened to the interior studs, the drain for the shower was the wrong size, metal electrical conduit was against copper water pipe, etc. We stopped work and requested proof of licenses for each of the trades prior to moving forward. A licensed plumber came and looked at the job for about 10 minutes where Goodfellas then sent another unlicensed plumber to perform the work. Toward the end of the project we found out that all the work was done by subcontractors (requested them to sign release of liens). They did not clean up daily or routinely take the demolished materials to the dump. We actually did the final clean up ourselves. Approximately 1 week after final inspection was conducted, the electrical in 1 bathroom went out. I immediately called Goodfellas where they came and fixed the improperly grounded wiring. I will give credit to Alfredo, Daniel, Carlos, and Ulisse for making sure we were eventually satisfied with the end product, but it was a painful process. So in summary, they used subcontractors that were not necesarily licensed in their trade, they did not properly seal off the work area, and the work effort lasted well past the estimated completion date. Photos will be posted soon.

My husband and I are thrilled with our kitchen designed by Ran at Goodfellas. Not only is the finished product exactly what we hoped for, the customer service delivered by the team was amazing. Ran listened to our ideas for the kitchen and came up with a great design that is functional and looks so pleasing. He was super patient as we made small tweaks to the design until it was just as we wanted it. When it came time to install, Ran and his crew did an above and beyond job working with our uneven floors and ceiling. Working on the smallest details to get them just right, and all with a smile! The price is great especially for the high quality of cabinets and service. We went with custom paint colors and they did such a great job. I would highly encourage anyone getting a new kitchen to go with them. Ask for Ran!

I am very grateful that I went with this company. They did an amazing job and it only took them about a month to complete. From the day I met Alon the contractor I knew I was in good hands. He walked me through every step of the process and even was nice enough to go shopping with me for tiles. He was very honest from day one and that is what I appreciated. The people who came to work in the house were also very respectful, punctual, and professional. Freddy was also very helpful and I thank him as well for his patience. I will definitely be recommending them to my friends. I didbhave some issues with the city inspectors but the company was patient with them as well and did everything they needed to do to make sure that my home was up to code. Thanks Goodfellas!!

Danny Started after Labor day and finished ahead of schedule, estimated November 30th for completion and finished before end of October. Upgraded kitchen, bath, family & Dining areas. They Returned my laundry area by the end of 1st week. Hated going to the laundromat. Others I interviewed weren't listening and got very extravagant like I would do whatever they wanted. Very frustrating. Then Danny from Goodfellas came & actually listened to me and what I wanted giving me a real estimate explaining everything to me. So I went with Danny, he made sure I was happy and kept me informed every step of the way. If I had any concerns it was addressed right away. Workers were very respectful, punctual and cleaned up at the end of each day. Thanks for having my home ready before Thanksgiving. Great Job! I'll use them again when I do next project.. I love my bathroom remodels! I had hired GoodFellas a few months back to do a complete renovation of my master bathroom and my kids' bathrooms and even my kids think its beautiful. From the moment that I researched their company it was all full of positive reviews and gorgeous photos of their previous work which they brought to life in my home. I could not be more pleased with their performance and I will be hiring GoodFellas again in the summer time when I start the next part of my project. For now, I am more than satisfied with what they have done to my home I cannot wait to be able to enjoy it now that the work is complete. Ahh Yes.. Everyone's favorite time of their lives, when the search for a contractor that actually knows what they are doing, won't shill you, and most importantly, won't do a remodel that is the equivalent of origami paper...Danny blew us away with his professionalism and attention to detail, which immediately put us at ease. The other portion that is unheard of is Danny promised us 4 months on our kitchen and bath remodel. I remember even scoffing that it would take longer than that. I believe my exact words were "and I guarantee it".. and Yes, I did it in the voice of the guy in the Men's warehouse commercials. I think selfishly, the best part of the entire project was I didn't even have to deal with the inspectors nor worry about attention to detail. I had complete trust and faith in Danny as he took care of everything himself. We have family that is having their kitchen remodeled as I type this with none other than Goodfellas.
