They do pretty good work. They are prompt on time most of the time if not they call and say they are running a little bit late. The workers clean up behind themselves.

I did not use them last because I am not very happy with them. When I first started using them, they were very good, but they have gone down. We also bought a hot water heater from them and they did a fantastic job, it is just in the last year or two that their service has gone down. The cost was reasonable. They have not been as responsive as I would like them to be, because I have spent a lot of money with them.

First I was impressed with the guy who came out and his modern thinking of how to fix this problem. But in talking to other people who I have brought out to look at my situation they said that this never should have been done this way. In the beginning they were out here all the time and fairly responsive but now its seems like they just don't want to have to deal with fixing it because they know they have to. Even though they have agreed, as per contract, it is a big job and they have not been willing to schedule it.

It is now September 25th and after hearing nothing from Goodman, I contracted to have a new Furnace and also AC put in. As Goodman did not response in more than 9 months to replacing the furnace as they had contracted to do, I had a highly reputable company come and install and correct issues. I feel relieved that it is all done, even though it cost me another 11,000. 00. The job is clean and equipment installed properly. The Instant Water heater was re-piped and will be flushed. Goodmans using the instant water heater as a heat source was against all specifications. The Water heater may have been damaged from such high heat as was used to heat the air handler. In looking back, I am glad Goodman did not fulfill its promise of a new furnace as I am not confident it would have been a good job... Glad to be done... It is a terrible situation to have companies do such bad work. This total job has cost me almost $20,000.00. I HOPE TO RECOVER SOME OF IT ...

The new boiler replaced our old boiler of 30+ years. It was very cold that winter when our old boiler failed. The old boiler had been repaired several times before and it just gave out! The guys from this company worked well into the night to make sure that we had heat in our house! It is hard to find that kind of dedication in a company anywhere!
Robert from Goodman Plumbing and Heating was very attentive, and very informative. He took several measurements, and discussed the options I had for the Mitsubishi system. We discussed all the particulars for the design, the install, and the workings of the system. Of all the interviews, Robert was the best. In my home, I was going from 'no heating and air system' to having something that would work perfectly in a home with no duct system.
The Goodman installers, Matt and Jeff, arrived on time and went right to work. They informed me of each step they were taking, installed the system, and cleaned up afterward. Robert arrived during the install and made sure everything was going well. Matt was very helpful explaining the remote control and how to work the system. I was very pleased with everything and I will use Goodman Plumbing and Heating in the future.
Their initial estimate was lower than the detailed estimate that we finally ended up with for reasons I still don't fully understand. Other than that we are completely satisfied with the work. All work was done professionally and completed in 1 day except for a follow up visit by a service tech to check the refrigerant charge. The new high efficiency condenser unit is larger than what we had even though the rated capacity is slightly less, so we had to rebuild the screening fence around it. They did a detailed heat load calculation to verify the unit was sized correctly. We ended up with a smaller capacity A/C unit than what we originally had, which is appropriate for the upgrades we have made to our house over the last several years.
Rodney, the office manager, gave me a time frame of 2-6 of when to expect someone at the townhouse. I requested a 30 minute call ahead so I could give the tenants an idea of when to expect the repair work. When 6 rolled around and I hadn't heard anything, I called. Since no one was there because it was after hours I had to leave a message. The message reassured me that someone would be returning my phone call with in 20 minutes. Robert, the owner, called back an hour later. First he couldn't find any where saying that I had an appointment. After her found the information all he gave me were excuses about the weather and how they were busy. I told him I understood the busyness but that doesn't explain whey they couldn't call me to let me know they were running behind. He let me know that someone should be at the property with in an hour and we would get a call. At 8pm we still didn't have a person working on the unit or a phone call to let me know what was going on. I left another message which wasn't returned until 9 pm. Robert was ruder this time. Excuses again about the weather and the appointments before me running long. All of which I understood and again told him the lack of communication was what made me angry. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a woman that Robert thinks I'm stupid or if it is his opinion of the general population, either way, as the owner, I expected at the very least an apology for the lack of communication. Instead I received rudeness and several explanations of how appointments in the A/C business works during business times. I can assure you that I neither lack intelligence or common sense.
Robert assured me someone would be at the townhouse the next morning since they couldn't guarantee someone at the townhouse until 11 pm that night. He assured me that I would get a 30 minute call ahead and someone would call me onsite to tell me what was wrong with the unit. It wasn't until I heard from the tenant later that day that I knew one unit had been repaired but something was wrong with the other unit and he suggested the tenant turn the unit off. I left a message on Friday afternoon and my phone call was returned several hours later by David, the person who serviced the machine. He told me he'd reported in to Rodney and told him what was wrong with both machines and didn't understand why I wasn't called. He gave me his work cell phone and said someone should call back Monday with the details and quoted pricing. If not, I should call him. I left a message on Monday early afternoon and didn't receive a call back. I called Tuesday morning and spoke with Rodney who said he'd just gotten the information from David to what the repairs were. I informed him I'd spoken with David on Friday and he told me differently. I told him I just wanted the bill for repair for what they had done, I'd already contacted another company for an appointment since they hadn't returned my phone calls for two days or followed through on any of the assurances they had given me. I was disappointed that depending on which associate I'd spoken with, I received a different story and the only person that apologized for the poor service I had received was David, the technician. The only reason I gave this company an over all D instead of F is that the A/C unit is working. I would not recommend this company.
Goodman came out several times to talk with us about replacing our air conditioners. Our house was built in 2004, and our builder-grade units were requiring yearly refrigerant refills, and were unable to adequately cool our three floor home. Goodman was very upfront about the pros and cons of fixing our current units or replacing them. . . They were honest, thorough, patient, and friendly. The day before they installed our new units, Goodman realized that a few of our ducts under the house were not attached, and were cooling our crawl space. Instead of charging us more to repair/replace them, the owner took care of the repairs himself. He apologized for his staff not seeing the problem sooner, and very professionally and generously took care of us. Our house is completely and wonderfully cool, our units are more efficient, and we have become Goodman customers for life!

There were some initial challenges to completing the work. The first unit delivered to Goodman by Trane arrived damaged and had to be returned. When the insulation was removed from the old unit, they discovered that the old unit was not installed in an optimal fashion (something about the coils) and had to reconfigure the system. This also entailed getting a different unit (a downflow unit instead of an upflow unit). As we wanted it done correctly,so that we could achieve the most efficient system, and it did not affect the price we opted for a two day delay to get the correct unit. There was also a challenge to the pad that needed to be set in the backyard for the fan. They explained to us how they would handle fixing the dilapidated pad and came in prepared to correct it. Once started, all work was completed in one day.
My husband is the technical person and I am the business person. They were able to answer all of our questions and kept us informed in every aspect of the replacement process. Even through the above described challenges, I found them to be extremely professional in all areas from the principal down to the workers.
I would definitely work with them again on small as well as large projects. You won't find a more customer friendly focused firm in Chesterfield County, VA or anywhere else for that matter.

I received a follow-up call from Margi this afternoon to check on the work and to make sure my wife was satisfied with the faucet replacement. I mentioned the problem with the bathroom faucet and she said that they will try to locate an allen wrench that fits the faucet and someone will come back and make the final adjustment. Service was outstanding from start to finish and they gave a discount since I found them through Angie's List.

I had a discussion with them and they gave me an informal quote over the phone. They were very helpful. I was just doing some shopping around. I wanted to ask them some questions in getting prepared for some things that are going to be happening in the future. I wanted some information on HVAC. They were great with their responsiveness to my questions. They were very professional. They were good. I would use them in the future.

The boiler repair job was done timely and well with several helpful features added in the course of the repair.
The geothermal job was awarded after a total of six bids were evaluated. This contractor was neither the lowest nor the highest bidder, but the one that had the most expertise. Several suggestions were offered during the bid process which upon further evaluation (the internet has a wealth of information to use to double-check and inform) proved to be advantageous. In addition, this was the only firm that stated they would perform duct efficiency as well as structure infiltration tests as a part of the job. This step yields objective data to aid in sizing the system. A followup duct test is done at the end to assure that duct work meets or more preferably exceeds industry standards. In these regards and others, this firm closely follows procedures which are recommended in published "advice" articles.
On the day scheduled for "tear-out" more men than we might have expected arrived on time and were introduced by name. They all turned out to be friendly people who otherwise would be welcome to come around. Where needed, protective coverings were put down--they were always very fussy about having things covered even when advised that in a particular location it wasn't necessary. The tear-out was promptly accomplished and the mess well cleared during which there was a friendly team work that was a pleasure to see.
The installation began shortly after with only certain of the men we had met before since this work was more specific. It took about three days and the same work attitudes continued. The system was started at the end and worked quite well even without final tuning. This turned out to be important because before they could return to put the final touches in place, we had a hurricane which caused a large tree to fall on the house. There was significant damage but we were able to remain in the house while repairs were accomplished. However, some of the work on the new system had to be undone so other repair work could proceed.
Goodman has been very cooperative and helpful during the whole process such that the system has never been a problem and we have been comfortable throughout. In addition, we have gotten to know some of the service personnel and most of the office staff better than might otherwise be the case. We have found them to be very customer oriented, friendly, and interested in doing a first rate job.
We recommend this firm without reservation.

The installers arrive as scheduled,on time. They worked all day and even though they ran into difficulty removing the old inside unit due to the way it had been installed they kept at it. When it got to about 6 PM I suggested that they Knock off and come back in the morning but they insisted they wanted to finish the installation that evening and finally got it in,up and working around 8 PM. It's worked ever since. I'd used this company in 1906 to replace a water heater and had the same excellent service.

The plumber arrived on time and completed the job with very little mess. He had to turn off the pilot light in our water heater when he was doing the work. We discovered during our morning showers the next day that he had neglected to turn it back on! Otherwise the serivce was just fine.

Their price was reasonable although we don't remember as to how much we paid. They were very trustworthy and they took a week to put the whole process of the HVAC system. My husband and I went to work by letting them into our house. Everything turned out great. They were cutting into the ceiling to put in vents which was a very messy process. When we came back from work the vents were put up and it looked like as if nothing had been done in our house. They had not left anything behind.

They only charged me for one visit even though they came out twice and I had a coupon that I got online. I would definitely recommend them because they will definitely offer you the top fix but they won?t be pushy about it. They are very thorough and helpful, and they will give you intelligent explanations about what could be wrong. If there is something that they don?t know about they don?t mind calling someone else.

Initially, Chris Lockhart of Goodman HP came out to do an energy audit/assessment of my home, which as one can imagine is not the best insulated. His assessment coincided with what I expected: He measured the dimensions of each space, took into account the number and type of windows, etc, then plugged it into a software program that made recommendations. (If I recall correctly, this assessment was done on a second visit as the first appt. was a meet and greet.) Then after sitting down to discuss our needs and wishes, we came up with a workable solution, albeit a pricey one - which was a downside. As previously mentioned, we decided to have Goodman install heat pumps in each of the bedrooms and the two large common areas as well as place two air purification units. Once the parts arrived, over the course of two weeks or so, Art and Brad (I believe that was their names) came out daily to do the installation. After a while, I felt comfortable leaving my home to run errands while they worked. Art and Brad were always professional and quiet and considerate whenever there was issue or decision that deserved my input, such as "do you want us to run the wires through this wall or over here?" As an aside, the sub-contracted electrician, Demp or Dent (spelling?) and his workers were also very courteous and had a few helpful suggestions for outside electrical outlets. In conclusion, the experience overall went well. I say that despite the fact that two of the heat pump units failed after two months in use. It took about a year to get them fully fixed. However, given that they never once give me a hassle and promptly came out on numerous occasions, I am more than satisfied with their post-sale service...and it's the service after the sale that distinguishes a company in my mind. Eventually, they fully replaced both units and not once was I charged (of course, it was under warranty). Do I wish that their prices were lower? Yes. Would I retrofit my home the same way if I could do it all over again? Maybe. I might consider regular ducting of A/C and heat in from the attic and the basement and attaching the air purification units directly to them. Cost and personal finances would be the main factor in such a decision. Would I call them first for other HVAC or water heater installation projects? Yes. Why? Service after the sale is second to none.

Very well. The only problem I ever had with them is the time we called an a receptionist stated they could not come out until the following week. That is when I called another company. I did try them once again however before hiring the other company and a male stated that it was absurd to tell us that they were too busy to come out until next week and the woman who told us that was new. They promptly came out and gave us great service.

They came to try and repair 1980 Heat Pump and after told the price and time it would take to get parts asked for and received an estimate for a new heat pump. Bought the new system and they were able to install it 2 days after I ordered it. They were on time and did a great job on removing the old and installing the new system. When about 4 weeks later the unit stopped working they came out right away and "blew out" the drain line (no charge) and it's worked fine ever since. Well pleased ever since. Had used them in the past, always with excellent results.

Very good-all day install but finished in one day. I had purchased 2 digital thermostats & they installed them both at no additional charge. Also refunded me part of my service fee (tried adding freon before replacing) as we did the work within a certain timeframe.
