provider removed Oak but took the wood - gave some to my neighbor across the street for $20.00 - the rest he loaded on his truck and took off with it - he came and cut down the trees while I was at work when I told him to call me to schedule a time that was good for both of us - of course I wanted to be home when the trees were cut - when I called him to ask where the wood was he said that he was going to bring me a cord of already split and seasoned wood - he brought a short cord which was nothing compared to the amount he took - I asked him why my wood was in my neighbor's drive way he said that he was trying to be nice by bringing the already split cord he had - I told him that this was not what we agreed on - after much back and forth he agreed to bring a second cord of wood - He is not a man of his word and not to be trusted - I will never use him again
All in all this was a GHASTLY job!!!!! Beware of Noel. His business card says "Owner Comes to Every Job!" However he does not stay any longer than to collect the money. He does not do any of the work himself. The tree removal went perfectly, the tree trimming looked awful. He did not complete the tree trimming and many trees are still unpruned. He just chopped the trees on one side and left the other half of the tree on the side that was not over the driveway. The ten Japanese Zelkova Trees that he butchered are worth $6,000 per tree. My husband and I were in total shock with the results of the pruning. He did great with the tree removal but trimming trees he knows nothing about. When he first came to my house to price the job, he gave me a written proposal of $3500. That was supposed to include our Senior Citizen discount of 10% which would have meant that the job was worth $3850.00. I paid $3500.00 in cash. He refused to provide us with a receipt for the money or a contract after I handed him the $3500 in cash. He said he would give a contract or a receipt after he took the money I left at 6:15PM for 10 minutes and when I returned he was gone and so I called him to request the contract again and asked he bring it to me the next day, Wednesday, May 22, 2013. He never called me back nor did he show up for a whole week. After a week passed by I called him again Monday night (7days later on May 28, 2013) and asked him to come Tuesday, May 29, 2013 between 9am-10am with the contract, He did not come to my house the next day, nor did he call. He sent 2 of his employees at 7:30am Tuesday and they rang the bell and woke up my 3 sleeping grandchildren and the dog went ballistic barking. The 2 workers who had been on the job asked me what I wanted from the Goodman Tree Company and how they could straighten this out. I explained I just want the contract with signed receipt of the $3500 in cash. They explained they were unable to give me a contract, and that I would have to speak to the owner. They took a look at the tree pruning job and took photos for the owner and also said that in their opinion, the trees were not pruned properly. The owner still refused to give me a contract. I have not heard anything from Noel Theroux since he sent the two employees over to see me. Not to mention he did not all the work he was supposed to, he left one stump unground, and he left the backyard in need of debris and twig clean up. I have property of over 1 1/4 acres and that is a big area to pay for cleanup after he left it in such a mess. I had to pay a landscaping company $200 to clean up after his job. I have photos of the end results and of his company people doing my job. I have photos of the owner Noel's truck on my property and I have photos of his Goodman Tree Company trucks in my driveway. I also have photos of his workers sitting on my grandchildren's swing set in my back yard swinging on the swings. I would like my contract and signed receipt.

Resolution: In addition to getting the signed contract and receipt I would like to be reimbursed $200 for the cleanup that I had to pay on top of paying him. I would also like to be reimbursed $600 for having to have someone else come out and even out the trees so that they don't look so ghastly.

WOW !!! Pretty much describes it. These guys were unbelievable. I priced around at least 5 tree services. Noel's price was right there with everybody else?s but with his 25+ years of experience, and when all was said and done, he did much more pruning than what I had gotten estimates for from the other guys. I had an old dead Crab Apple tree taken down and stump ground in the backyard. I the front yard, I had a branch that would scrape along the roof when it rained. Noel and his crew of about 15 guys not only took care of that branch but pruned the entire tree. More than I bargain for making what I paid for the job a GREAT price. The other guys would have probably done the job that I asked them to do, but Noel went above and beyond and did what he thought was the right thing to do for my tree. TWO THUMBS UP FOR GOODMAN!!! IMPORTANT, he is a very busy guy so "WITH PATIENCE COMES THE GOOD MAN PRICE"!! Way to go Noel!!! I'm a very happy homeowner.......
Overall, the services provided were satisfactory, with the following exceptions: >. The price for services rendered appeared to be higher than usual, absorbing the discount provided by Angie' List. >. The work provided resulted in a great deal of dirt and debris being thrown all over children's play areas and equipment, without any cleanup provided by services.
Goodman representative came promptly to give estimate. It took a couple of calls to set the date.
They removed a flowering pear tree that was badly damaged by Sandy. They also removed the stump and carted everything away and left the area clean.
It was definately worth the wait.
I had previously been given an estimate of $650.

The work was, overall, quite poor. Noel, the owner, is very pleasant and personable and cooperative. He answered his phone promptly and showed up on time for the appraisal. He also gave me what I thought was a very good price. I should have known. The day the work was to be done, the crew arrived a little late...a half hour to 45 minutes late, Noel arrived even later than that, perhaps 50 to 55 minutes late, but I can live with that. We reviewed what was to be done and he told me who his lead guy was and he left. The man who topped the bradford pear, cut down the apple tree and removed the two branches that were hanging over my property, appeared to know what he was doing. He actually climbed the trees and worked from there. He was not careful, however, where the tree limbs landed and broke some branches on two of my lilacs. The crew was large, maybe 8 guys or so and they promptly removed all the limbs and branches that fell on the lawn, carted them away and shredded them and raked up the grass. However, the cleanup they did in my flower beds was practically non-existent. They had trimmed 3 hollies and picked up what looked like, nothing. All the cuttings are still in the flower beds.
My most serious complaint, however, is the pruning of my apple tree and dogwoods. It was horrendous! They used a gas pole trimmer for the trees and most of the cuts they made were jagged, rough and uneven. They made the cuts improperly because they didn't cut just above new growth or close enough to the trunk, leaving stumps in their wake. In the process, they gauged the adjacent branches, putting nicks and cuts in the bark. They did no cleaning out of deadwood. I normally do the pruning myself but didn't have the time this year and it had become more difficult for me to reach the higher branches as the trees grew. I know how to prune, and their work was abysmal! It was as if they had never done this before. When I asked that they prune additional wood from one of the trees, I was met with an attitude. The lead man was hispanic and spoke loudly in spanish to his crew as a result of my request. It was rude and unprofessional. I don't know what he was saying, but that was his point. After they left, I began the process of picking up all the debris in my flower beds. I collected two large piles and am still not done yet. I proceeded to try and correct some of the bad cuts on the apple tree, which took a long time and then decided to call Noel to give him the courtesy of telling him about my dissatisfaction with his crew's work before I sent my review to Angie's List. He told me that in 17 years he had never had any complaints about the work his crew did! HUH? How is that even remotely possible? The only thing I can think of is that customers must only use him for complete removals of trees or branches but certainly not for pruning. He told me not to make any more corrections, he would come out and check out the job himself and have his guys make the corrections while he was there. I was happy he was going to come out in person, because I wanted him to see the shoddy work that had been done as they hacked up my trees. He said he would call me back to set up a date and time. He called back a few days later on Saturday and said he would send his guy who did all the special pruning, like on spiral shrubs and such, the next day, Sunday, at 9 AM. I wasn't thrilled with the time but agreed just to get this over with. I asked him to come as well but he said he coached a football team, I believe, but he would come with his whole family. Perhaps he was being sarcastic, because he never did. His guy, who had been one of the original crew, showed up over an hour late on Sunday, with NO TOOLS, wound up using mine and I wound up having to show him explicitly, each and every mistake. He kept telling me that this is not what they do, that I would have to hire a "gardener" or someone to do this type of work. He corrected many of the cuts on the apple tree, moved on to the kousa dogwood, with my,again, having to point out the bad cuts, constantly telling me that this is not what they do, and sharing with me that he was moving today, which I guess was his way of telling me that he wouldn't be staying a long time. He stopped after about 2/3rds of the cuts were done (none of the upper ones because his ladder didn't reach) and said he had to go. He did not touch the second dogwood. He did pick up the two piles of brush that I had previously collected, stuffed it into MY garbage bags, took them away and didn't even say goodbye. I waited a couple of days expecting Noel to call me to make sure I was satisfied but got no call so I called him, got his voice mail and told him what had transpired. No call back. My advice to anyone reading this review is to steer clear of Goodman's Tree Service!
We had a large tree next to our house hit by lightning. Fortunately, it fell in a harmless area.
I called a few tree services; some recommended by neighbors. Noel responded immediately and was there the next day to take the half fallen tree down next too our house. His crew is fantastic.
While he was there we also discussed several more trees in my yard that needed trimming or removal. He offered to me a price for his crew for the entire day, which I agreed to.
These guys are true professionals. They worked all day and took down several trees, trimmed several trees, cleaned up after themselves and repaired any minor damage that did occur.
Fantastic people. Noel has tremendous work ethics and gave us a good price. We were extremely happy with his services.

The owner was very personable and very nice, he was respectful and did what he had to do. He gave me options and was honest with me. He advised me which option would be less for me to do, he let me know the estimate and everything he was going to do.

They were professional, prompt and removed everything except a fairly large mound of ground bark at the site of the two trees. Given how neat they were, I think they left this for a reason but no one ever explained it to me. I would definitely recommend them. I was happy with the overall job.

I had two trees come down. Nole was fabulous. I called him early in the morning for an estimate. He called me right back. He was the best. He was very honest and the estimate was great. He was there in 45 minutes. His crew was unbelievable. They respected my property. They were absolutely reassuring that everything was going to be okay. He gave me the best, honest price. I got other estimates were about double what he told me. The work was impeccable. They took care of any cable lines and live wires. They took care of everything. I'd definitely hire him again. I can't say enough good things about him.

The initial service went great, it is the subsequent, post-hurricane call that I am very disappointed with. After the hurricane, since I had initially had a wonderful experience with Noel, the owner, I called him again to assist in removing some loose tree limbs and grinding some stumps. He told me he was swamped but would I mind calling him back in a few weeks "for a Goodman price" (He's very proud of his pricing).

I called back three times two days apart...no call back. After about a week a female from his office called to tell me he could come by to check out the damage and give me a quote. He showed up on time and gave my wife a quote of $350 which was fantastic so of course we agreed. He said he was going to be down the street in two weeks and he would call her to confirm. Two weeks went by...no call. I called and left a message...no call back. Another three days go by...no call back. I call again...a week goes by no call back. I call again and ask him to please just let me know if he is unable to do the work that I would understand....no call back. Two weeks go by and I give him one last try...to this day; no call back!! You may be wondering why I didn't just call someone else. Because he frankly was so great the first time and his prices were phenomenal that I really wanted to give him my business. Apparently, now that I have a smaller job, it wasn't worth his time so he just blew us off which is extremely unprofessional.

Giving him an "F" is bittersweet for me, but for all of you who have been ignored by tree guys, landscapers, contractors, painters, masons or anyone else you were trying to give your hard-earned money to only to be rebuffed like the ugly girl at the prom, this one is for you! Don't put up with people like him. Resist giving people like him your business. When the phone stops ringing for him he will being to appreciate what he once had in all those loyal customers and perhaps soon the days where business owners respect their customers will return.
Response from GOODMAN TREE SERVICE INC
"I am sorry I did not get a chance to cut your tree branch since the hurricane left me with limited availability to a tree branch. I wish you would have requested the branch to be cut during your initial job. My intentions to just cut a tree branch for you are good intentions. I have cut many tree branches in 25 years. I am sorry I did not cut your tree branch. Sometimes people are very specific in how they want their job done and in other instances people are very receptive to suggestion so I don't know where we missed each other but it seems to me with the length of everything you wrote and the way you explain it, please don't let that tree branch hurt our rapport. Remember when you call me and I don't answer the phone, with patience is a Goodman price."

I was very happy with their service. I researched like two or three of them and they were the only ones that called me back. One of them called me back and then never showed up to do the quote but they were very good with the followup. They gave me a good price. The team came and they did a beautiful job. They took down one very large tree very close to the house. We had built a deck around the tree and that was the tree that I asked them to take down. They cleaned up. They trimmed some extra branches that were in front of the house for me. They trimmed like two or three trees in the backyard and some dead branches and took down a big tree and then trimmed a tree in the front and the whole job was $1800. Their price was excellent. I would absolutely use them again in the future if necessary.

I used Goodman Tree service to remove a tree felled by Irene. They showed up on time and quoted me a price which I found out later from my wife was excessive. Several years ago my wife spent 1200.00 to remove two trees from the property. Anyway next time I'll let her do all the talking. My issue with Goodman aside from the obvious price gouging is his inability to finish the job. I am still waiting for his return to do the stump grinding - which was already paid for (30 days and counting). Anyway the jury is still out on this one until he finishes the job his rating on quality will remain an F.

I contacted Noel on the afternoon of 6/14 to inquire about the removal and/or trimming of some very overgrown trees on either end of my house which wer serving as ladders to the neighborhood critters and especially worrisome nocturnal raccoons. Noel stopped by that very evening after I got home from work to survey the property and provided a quote along with a commitment to have the work done within the next day or two. Well, he and his crew of 12 showed up and began work at 7:30 AM the very next morning! They trimmed back two gigantic oak trees that had been overhangling my house on one end, and removed a large maple along with various evergreen trees and bushes from the opposite end of my house. They also removed a dead cherry tree and trimmed back/thinned out the long neglected, overgrown hedges along my back yard ... and tgrimmed every other bush and tree on my property. When I left for work at 8:45 AM, a lot of the work was already done and areas were being raked p. They went through this property like a whirlwind, doing everything I asked and then some! As I drove into my driveway after work that night, my neighbor walked over from across the street saying, "WOW!" over and over again ... he too was amazed at how quickly and efficiently they improved the landscape. That first night was so peaceful - no more being awakened in the middle of the night to the pitter patter of critter feet running across my roof. It was worth every penny just for that peace of mind alone. The expertise and professionalism that Noel and his crew demonstrated in whipping this yard into shape was immeasurable. I am beyond pleased with the job they did and have already recommended them to several of my co-workders - so here too, I must say I very highly recommend Goodman Tree Service.

Work was done on time. All the work was completed in one hour and, when it was done, there was no mess on our property and it looked like their crew of 12 was never here.

We go estimated from other compnies and Goodman was not only the lowest, but also one of the few that actually seemed interested in pleasing us.

Goodman's crew of four removed a panel of the wood picket fence that separates the front yard from the back, brought the trunk down and removed it all and raked up the debris in about an hour. Except for some scrapes on other trees which occurred during the storm, I would never have known the trunk was ever there. Very skillfully done, especially since no very heavy equipment was brought in. They maneuvered the tree and did theire cutting and hauling to avoid all the other greenery.

We use him all the time and he is very good. He is very punctual and they do the job very quickly. He has a whole crew come over to do the job. He is a very nice man and he is always on site with the workers. He calls you to let you know when he is coming. No one can beat his price. The take every single leaf off the property. You won?t even know that they were there when they leave. I have recommended him to other people too.
