Hired Gotta Love That Handyman to repaint all exterior surfaces (trim, doors, and a column), and make a couple repairs to a rotted window frame. I payed a nice sum for this work, however, the painting does not look like it was done by a professional. They managed to get paint on my windows, entry way, brick, vinyl siding, and shutters- left it. Left sanding dust on my brick, told me it would come off. I tried to scrub it off, and of course it's not coming off. There are certain areas where they didn't paint at all, like the sides of some of the trim. Other areas are uneven or have paint drips. Work was extremely sloppy. Amazingly, individual has very few negative reviews on the internet- PAY ATTENTION TO THE ONES THAT YOU FIND!!!! I can not stress this enough. Do not dismiss them as the occasional disgruntled customer. The repairs to the rotted window and door frame are fine as far I can tell, but the painting is absolutely atrocious. He asked for a chance to fix these issues, but IMO, they should have NEVER happened in the first place. See the pictures to understand why I declined his offer.

Attention to detail for my deck was not done at all. Sloppy all around. When i contacted Mr. Scovens about this, I received NO response. The replacement boards were not nailed in properly, and they were not cut to the length of the boards that remained, every one protrudes out farther than the originals. The stain was not applied to the boards correctly you can still see where the stain was not covering the entire boards. VERY SLOPPY. My house was sprayed, no one bothered to clean that up. None of the boards that were not replaced were sanded down to remove the wear of time, and smooth them out, nor did they have wood putty applied to make them look better, or anything done to them to make them look better. The wrong type of replacement boards were used. Just a pressure wash and stain nothing else. The step boards that were replaced bled sap bc they were not dried out properly-but were stained over anyways to try and hide it. I am still waiting for the deck replacement boards to do the same thing. The entire step replacement was installed incorrectly. The bottom step is way too high from the ground, it is difficult to step up or step down from it. Nothing was done to correct this. The sides of the deck have several nail holes that were not filled in before it was stained, so you can see every hole from where the rails were removed. It is just terrible. The amount time spend to repair--i wouldn't call it repair-- my deck was less than minimal. This man was never working on my deck for more than 15-30 min at a time. Then would leave, with several days in between returning to work on it. I am not including the days that it rained. I've never experienced anything like that. A job that should have taken 3 days max took over two weeks. The bare necessities were used on my deck. I was charged extra for the boards that were replaced on my deck when those were supposed to have been included in the original estimate. A call from Mr. Scovens to say that an extra fee was going to occur bc they were over budget by $50--which quite frankly I could not see being the actual supplies that were used, I was charged $60 additional dollars instead. This entire job was over priced. I was over charged and I feel I was taken advantage of. I would take this matter to my lawyer, but the cost to do that would be exceeding more than the "repair" itself, so Mr. Scovens has come out on top for this. I would ask for a partial refund of the money I paid him, but I'd never get it, and I am sure he would try to justify the cost to his advantage. The client means nothing. I have learned my lesson on this, and will not be taken advantage of again. i was every bit as courteous and friendly as I could be during this time. Now I have had to hire a new contractor to come in and fix his shoddy work, which has cost me even more money. All I wanted was my deck to be repaired properly, and I ended up getting swindled. Well I hope the profit was worth it, bc if this is what you need to do to get money, then I feel sorry for people like this. Word of warning, take caution if you're going to hire this man. I regret that I did.

Throughout the entire process, he was difficult to reach and often did not show up when scheduled. He asked for payment early, did not complete the work, and left the job site very messy. The work he did complete was very poor quality.

"The work that was requested from you was done to full satisfaction we completed the 2 bathrooms that were painted, The laundry room that painted , The storage area that had mold and mildew with the replacement of all of the insulation, The Den that was painted, and the the job in the sun room with removing the entire old ceiling, removing mold, insulating, sheet rocking, and painting all of theses materials were purchased from the total of $2,800 as i asked for more money to complete the job we were refused i started to feel as we were not going to get paid for the finishing project. As for the job not being completed there was still an outstanding balance on this project of $ 1,400 how can a job be completed without finances. Me and my team completely cleaned the job site very well with the help of me hire a house cleaning company. I'm sorry that we couldn't come to an agreement but with the balance that's left on this project to put up some trim and touch up work on the sheet rock is more than efficient to hire another contractor with available cash left over . Also if you remember what it looked like before and after photo there is a 100% difference i will post them so that the difference can be seen also me and my team were there for 2 weeks straight everyday . Very professional! I emailed Ernest this night before to see if he could add on the drywall repair (from tile removed by someone else). He responded within an hour in the affirmative and they did a great job with everything. Will absolutely use again; already looking for tile for them to install for me

Ernest and his crew were prompt, professional and friendly, and installed my dog door quickly and with great results. I went ahead and began getting quotes for other projects I don't have the skills or knowledge for around our house. Ernest will definitely be my go to guy for anything I need in that arena. Trustworthy professionals are not so easy to find these days so I'm so glad to have had a friend refer me to Ernest!

Everything was taken care of within the 2 hour limit of my Angie's list package. Ernest and his colleague showed up on time, after some initial coordination challenges, but they were professional and very help. Would use them again for odd jobs around my home.

Price was very reasonable. Hired him to do several jobs for 8 hours to prepare my home to be placed on the market. There was a small communication issue with arrival times. Ernest came for 2 days with a worker each day. They worked to complete the list just as I asked and did a good job. I waited to write the review so some one else could see the work and give their opinion. Everyone had a positive feedback to the the work.

Ernest worked with us when we had a scheding conflict and arrived in the afternoon as promised. He and his co-worker were efficient and paid attention to detail, hiding the wires from the TV as we had asked. They cleaned up after themselves and were finished in under two hours. We were VERY pleased with the outcome and level of professionalism!

They were very professional and took great care with their work. The projects were simple but not something we could do ourselves, and we had some difficulty finding someone who would take the job. They gladly did the work and did an outstanding job. We will definitely use them again in the future.

They did a very good job. The pergola looks good, and is assembled solidly. The attic fan needed to be removed after I asked roofers to deactivate it and cover the hole, and the handyman removed it carefully.
