As of 3-2015, this review is John's only bad review where work was done, so people may consider ignoring this review. For those people with a new, cookie cutter house, you are probably ok. For rest of you, PLEASE DO NOT ignore this review. Feel free to contact us via Angie's List to see pictures of this job for yourself. <br /> John was the first person to promptly respond to our Angie's request about steel gutters. He was also happy to arrange the quote visit over email and arrived to visual quote on time. Finally, he also was open the custom spacers needed for our gutter mounting. The positive experiences ended here. <br /> After he pushed to install before winter, John was slow to respond to the quote confirmations.  Consequently, we were ready to let the install go until spring. We did confirm a contract before winter. He and his crew were supposed to arrive at 10:00 am on November 8, but he texted and called at 10:20 to cancel. He told us the fascia installer was concerned about the wind (0-10 mph) but he also noted that it was deer opener and the installer was likely hunting. The wind continued until about noon <br /> and stopped. The rest of weekend was perfect.  <br /> After that weekend, the weather turned cold and wet. On Friday, November 20, they came and stated that they would finish in a <br /> single day. It was near freezing and there was snow on the ground. It drizzled on the last day. The job was "finished" on <br /> Sunday, after it was clear that they could not fix details of the job. <br /> My husband has significant construction experience, but he does not have tools for siding. We used Angie's list since we recently had a very poor experience with a roofer based on a neighbor's recommendation. My husband attempted to stay out of John's way for most of the first day. At the end of the first day, my husband examined the work.  Based on the results of this review, it was clear additional review was needed. <br /> 1) John damaged our new awning by dropping a piece of siding and put a 2 inch rip in it. He has not responded to 3 attempts (2 texts and 1 email) to address the issue. We discovered this rip a month later after a warm up thawed the snow on the awning <br /> and allowed light through the hole. It suspect that we need to sue him for the approximately $600 replacement awning. <br /> 2) John often stated our house was old (1929), consequently the siding will not fit well. <br /> 3) John did not caulk many corner and seams. <br /> 4) John does not always bend metal to form fit trim even after the client noted that the pieces did not fit. <br /> 5) John left hammer marks on the siding. <br /> 6) John used huge globs of caulk inside the gutter seams which will likely catch debris and inhibit water flow. <br /> 7) John does not install the trim in same way on each window. On our sunroom windows, he used slip-on clips on one window and did not use them on the other windows.  I think that he ran out of the slip-on clip strips. <br /> 8) John relies on caulk to seal seams versus proper siding lapping techniques. <br /> 9) John did not supply a piece of downspout for drainage over our sidewalk after offering to deliver one. <br /> 10) John's crew disposed of their cigarette butts on our property. <br /> 11) The crew repeatedly walked on our blvd ground landscaping. The spring thaw shows significant damage which needs replacement. <br /> Overall, after a positive start to the job, John made it clear that we were ignorant after we noted issues with his work. As we stood in the cold drizzle on Sunday and John indicated that he was done. He asked us if we felt the job was finished. Considering his fascia installer was gone, it was clear that he would not be able to finish the job. In addition, we already tried to address details without results. We wanted him gone, so we agreed the job was done. I wish we had waited to spring so we could have seen the more significant errors in the work. John's work would probably have been better in warmer weather as he lied about being able to work in the cold. Finally, we also would have been aware of the rip in our awning. <br />

It was just fine. They were prompt and gave us an estimate. They did a nice job.

They are excellent! They quoted me a really reasonable price compared to others. They were fast. They tore off the old and put on the new and were completed with the entire job, including cleaning up and leaving my house, within 45 min.

We didn't think we needed gutters on the south side of our house, but after living here 12 years, we got water in our basement. We called, and John came out and looked and noticed that the down spout from our other gutter was broken off and the water was pouring down onto the foundation.  We decided to have them gutter that side of the house, and he fixed that down spout and another one. The color matches perfectly, good fast job. Would recommend. <br />

<p>I had a complete gutter system quoted by three different Angie's List contractors.  I went with the lowest bid, based on Angie's List reviews.  Big mistake.  The company did MANY things poorly (used pieces of cut downspout as hangers instead of actual hangers, mis-matched corners on gutter that needed mitres, did not use "ledge jumpers" so downspout alignment was terrible, used silicone instead of correct sealants on all joints, used multiple pieces of downspout instead of one contuos piece to save money, The previous contactor quoted and installed larger downspouts, but only made small  dropout holes in the gutters, so flow was restricted to the smaller gutter anyway!)</p> <p><br /></p> <p>I was not a gutter expert, but I know the previous job as bad.  I looked for a gutter "expert" to look at the botched job and hoped that they would be agreeable to "clean-up" someone elses poor workmanship.  I called Grand Gutter and explained the dilemma..  John came out the same day (within the hour), walked through the entire job while on the phone to me at work and told me exactly what the issues were, how he would fix it.  He is an expert and made me one in the process.  John and team did the "clean-up" from previous botched job perfectly.  He even offered to have the job paid for by CC, which was a first for me on a home repair.  John was awesome to deal with and very customer focused and an expert in gutters.  "When you want the job done right, call and Expert" - John's your man.</p> <p>I met with the previous contractor of the "botched job" and explained my dissatisfaction with the workmanship and we agreed to a lower price that originally quoted to assist in paying the quoted price to "fix" by Grand Gutters.  The previous contractor was very professional and apologetic that the work did not meet my expectations.  I think they were very busy and using new crew/sub to get all the work done they had biz for at the time.  </p> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <br />

Did a great job. Focused on making sure I got the best product for my home at the best price with great service.

John was punctual, fair on price and provided quality work.  I would have John out again. <br />

Everything went extremely well! We simultaneously had our house trim painted, so Mike (Grand Gutters employee) was able to remove the old gutters before the painters got to work. This was much more difficult than anticipated, but they did the job without complaint or extra charge (which was much appreciated). Once the house was painted, John (the owner) came back to install the new gutters. He also painted and installed downspout leader boxes and decorative brackets. Overall, he was very professional and kept me up to date during the installation. We highly recommend Grand Gutter and would work with them again! <br />

I had four companies bid the project.  They scheduled the time for a bid promptly and showed up on time.  We had a good discussion about the project and he submitted a bid on the spot. <br /> Grand Gutters was the best (lowest) bid of the four and had an average lead time. <br /> Once awarded the work, they set a schedule and called the day before to confirm the work.  They showed up on time and completed the work as bid.  They left the site clean and the gutters are working fine. <br /> Good job. <br />

I sent a message that I would like an estimate to see what could be done about basement flooding from water overflowing the gutters.  John communicated well on when he'd stop by and was there on the dot.  HE LISTENED to my problem and came up with a sensible, thrifty solution.  I agreed on the spot and his crew came back a week later to do an excellent, neat job.  It hasn't rained yet, but I'm confident that the wider gutters and relocated downspouts will make a difference.  It was a thoroughly professional, easy-going process throughout.  <br />

I contacted John (the Owner) for a bid on gutter tear off and replacement, to be coordinated with my painting project.  John got the details of the project from me over phone and promptly visited my house and provided a bid.  I appreciated the fact that John was competent enough to provide the bid this way - versus requiring me to be there for the bid - as taking time away from work, while juggling taking care of two young children is very challenging. <br /> The bid I received was better than the bid I got from the other highly rated gutter company on Angies List.  The quote was detailed nicely and based on that, as well as conversations with John, I felt that the install and materials would be of equal or better quality than the other bidder.  I also liked the fact that all my interactions with Grand Gutter were with John (the Owner) and he is also on-site for the majority of the install.  John's knowledge is immense and he was very helpful in thinking through the project and put me at ease regarding coordinating the gutter work with my painters somewhat unpredictable schedule (lots of rain this spring/early summer).  Because of all these things, I selected Grand Gutters to do the work. <br /> John separately provided a bid for gutter covers (included in my cost total above)... a low, mid, and high price options.  We talked through the options, and after learning we weren't planning on staying in our house much longer than another 5 years, and the fact that we don't have a lot of messy trees to contend with (e.g. Maple tree helicopters), John suggested I go with the lowest price option.... which was roughly half the price of the "mid" option and over a third of the price of the "high" option.  I was impressed by his honesty and that he didn't try to upsell me at all.    <br /> John was kind enough to make a second trip and provide some options to address neighbor run-off (their gutters point at my foundation, which by the way, is against Minneapolis ordinance).  I honestly felt like he was a trusty "advisor" on this project.  He was also accomodating to certain nit-picky requests of mine, such as using hangers at closer intervals vs. typical installs and actually didn't even charge me extra for it. <br /> After getting the house painted, I decided I woud like to replace existing aluminim fascia on my garage to better match my house paint scheme.  At my request, John offered to do this work, even though they typically don't do fascia (they focus on gutters).  His price was reasonable and I liked the simplicity of having one contractor doing the work (less people to coordinate). <br /> The work started on a Friday and was finished the following Monday.  Everything went well.  Being the nit picky person I am, I found one downspout that was not perfectly vertical.  I asked John to address and it was resolved immediately.  My wife was there during some of the work and noted that the crew seemed nice.  No mess or other debris left behind. <br /> Overall, great experience!  I think the strength of Grand Gutters is John's personal involvement in the project and his communication skills throughout the experience.  So often do I get the bid (sales call) from the salesman in his company polo shirt, who promises the world but once the work starts, they are nowhere to be found.  Not so with Grand Gutters!  John's a good guy that I believe truly cares about his customers.  That goes a long way for me these days... as it is a hard trait to find. <br />

As part of the job I also wanted him to put a tip-up on the downspout at the back of the house. When he finished the front underground downspout I paid him in full for both jobs - since he didn't have the part necessary for the tip-up at that time. He said he would be back the next day to finish it. A month and two phone calls later it still hasn't been done, and I doubt it ever will be. <br /> Nice guy in person, and one of the few in the Twin Cities that would do an underground spout, but my advice would be not to pay until the job is done. <br />

I was very pleased with the work John and his crew did for us.  John was on time for the estimate, listened to the issues I was having with my current gutter system, and walked me through his vision of the project.  He gave me several options for repairing my system, but I opted to replace all of the gutters.  The poor weather in mid-June prevented them from starting my project at the originally scheduled time, but they started the work on the next day of good weather.  The removal of my existing gutters and installation seemed to go well, and his crew cleaned up the site at the end of each day.  The new gutters look and work great, and I would use them again. <br />

John from Grand Gutters called and set up a time to come out and give us a quote.  He was quick to determine what was needed and the time it would take to complete the job. He wrote up a quote right there on the spot.  His quote beat out all the other companies we spoke with and then with the Angie's List discount it was a great value. <br /> They were out to install the gutter in a week and a half.  John's team showed up first thing in the morning and had the work done in no time.  <br /> Quality material, everything looks great, we couldn't be happier. <br />

John came out and looked at the gutter. Saw what my problem was and gave me an estimate over the phone. Came out on Sunday a fixed gutter, so it drains appropriately. <br />

John and his team performed wonderful job installing the gutters at my new house. John is very responsive and prompt in returning calls. Price quote includes installation of seamless gutters, down sprouts and leaf protecting mesh. Color matched. John gave me 3 options for the leaf protecting mesh and genuinely helped me choose the right one that fits into my budget.  <br /> Very happy and satisfied with the service. I will strongly recommend "Grand Gutters" for gutters installation. <br /> <br />

John (owner-operator) was one of the most professional and enjoyable contractors that we've had out. Not only that but he out-priced the other estimates that we'd solicited. He worked on time, cleaned up well, and was straightforward. Later in the summer we had someone come out to inspect our roof, and he asked who'd done the gutter work because it looked so well done. Thanks to John. We'd most definitely have him out again. <br />

They were fine.  They were responsive.  I had emailed them and he called me back within a day and actually he asked for the address, as I was not sure when I would be at home since he wanted to stop by and look at the area.  He called me back and gave me an estimate.  I asked him about colors because we live in town homes and we had to make sure that the gutter would match the rest of the work around here.   So he came with a couple of colors and we talked about where the down spot would go.  He was very pleasant.  Then the work was scheduled 10 days later and done well and efficiently.

John was friendly, very professional, and did a great job.  I am very grateful for his prompt response to help us out!!  I would definitely recommend his services. <br />
