After the winter, I found myself behind getting started mowing my lawn for the season. The grass had gotten too long to easily take care of with my push mower, so I contacted Greenbriar Landscapes based upon a referral. I initially talked to the owner, Gene, and he offered to do the one-time mow at a fair rate. Initially, it got pushed back due to weather, but they were able to come out and complete it late in the afternoon the following week. Initially, I was happy with the work until I found out from my wife that they damaged our fence that was installed a few months ago with the ride-on mower they used. It seems that one of the employees backed into it, but did not tell us about the damage. The description here on HomeAdvisor, they state that they pride their company on reliability, great communication, integrity, and quality work. Based on what I experienced, they refuse to take my calls, and they are not going to repair the damages. After I told Gene about the damage, he sent me the following text. *They took a picture and told me about it being like that when they started mowing so I do not if they are lying to me about it, but they did tell me* They did not do a site survey before starting the work, so I found the message odd. I assured him the damage was not there prior, as this was the first time equipment was anywhere near the property since the fence was installed. He said, I will come and look at it but I am not making any promises. I have the picture and the time they started. That was over two weeks ago, and I have not heard from him since. Fortunately, I have not been billed for the work, which I take to mean that they understand they caused the damage. I just wish they had the honesty and integrity to take ownership of the fault and repair the damage. They are a new company, and given the times we are in with COVID, and that they are local, I wanted to do what I could to support them. We have much more work to do in landscaping, and I was using this initial job to get a gauge on their work. I will not be working with them again after this experience. If you need your yard mowed at a low price, this may be a decent option as of writing this. However, document your property, ensure that they do not use a ride-on mower or tractor, and hold them accountable. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for.
