I purchased new tile through an Angie's List Deal. The price was great. My initial emails to have the service scheduled, Henry to come by and validate the space and additional costs, and confirm my next steps went great. When the installation team (Carlos and crew) showed up on the scheduled install date they were only 30 min. late - not a huge deal. They were quick, courteous and helpful in demo and install of new tile. They then said they would be back the following day (after tile was set) to finish with grout, etc. My fault for not asking what time the following day so that I could schedule my conference calls around the noise.
Here are the reasons for my lower scores:
1. Carlos and team cracked a tile on the shower, baseboards not installed (I had to call regarding this), vanity not installed (I had to call regarding this), and large holes in drywall around the pipes from where the vanity was placed (again, not placed until I had to call and inquire when it was going to be done).
2. T-moulding between wood floor and tile broken during demo.
3. Bill for Services not completed - I was informed that pipe hook-up would be done by a licensed professional. It was not, Carlos did this work. I was told that a licensed professional would come out to verify the work (for the same $125 cost) and have provided 2 weeks worth of available times - to be done during M-F 8AM - 5PM - and received no response as of today (emails have been sent March 19th, March 20th, March 26th to no response).
I understand that accidents happen during installation (broken tile, t-mould, drywall), but what upset me the most was that I was the one that had to point out to Henry (via phone) and Carlos (who was sent to correct them). With the t-mould (again, when I asked where it was) it was first presented as, "well, we can glue the 2 pieces back together and put some putty so it does not look as bad." Um, no. So, I offered to order my t-mould from the flooring company that did the work (which I did and have at my house) and the agreement was that Henry would come by to do the install when I notified him I had the piece. Again, no replies to email.
The other upsetting thing is that while Henry is nice in person there is definitely no sense of ownership over the quality of work his team performs. For example, when I called regarding status of the broken items it was very clear that this was Carlos' problem and Henry was placing all ownership on him. FYI FOR FUTURE BUSINESS SUCCESS: These guys represent your company. Take an interest in the work they deliver.
So, I understand that Henry's company did provide additional services on a quote that I have not paid to date - was waiting for my t-mould to be fixed and plumber to show up - but, at this point, I'm just going to pay the work that was done (minus the plumber costs because the licensed person never appeared) and be done with it.
It really is a shame how this ended up because I was hoping to use them in the future on additional jobs, but if this is the level of service for a small guest bathroom there is no way they are touching my kitchen.
