About us

Groeneweg Builders was founded by Steve Groeneweg in 1985 and incorporated in 1997. Steve has spent a lifetime sharpening his new home, remodeling and commercial building talents, skills, and knowledge with priceless years of hands-on field experience. Today GBI is a leader in quality new home and remodeling construction throughout the greater West Michigan area. We are members of the Greater Grand Rapids Homes & Building Association. We presently the only firm to sit on the Remodelers Council and the Custom Home Builders Council. The councils are select group of builders and remodelers that are committed to continuing education.

Very poor quality of workmanship, he never kept his word or repaired his mistakes (there were several I ended up fixing myself), inexperienced workers, I was promised a 3 week remodel ( it took them 10 weeks) I finally talked to the owner of the company to get issues resolved. EXAMPLE they threw all the waste products (drywall compound, grout, pieces of tile, drywall scews, etc..) down my floor drain and plugged it up, I chipped the hardened materials away myself because he didn't think it was his problem.

They did a very good job, and always called to let us know what was scheduled. We did have a little trouble with finishing the last 5% . They were concerned about cleaning up after themselves every day they were here.

Addition to Existing Structure Building Service
Overall, they did a good job. At times we were a little dissapointed w/ the subs they brought in but the Groeneweg employees made up for it. We would work with them again if the opportunity came up.
