It went Well as discussed prior to beginning the work.

After reviewing Angie’s list, I was able to identify two (2) general contractors in my area. The first provided a general hourly quote over the phone and scheduled an appointment to provide me the number of hours required to complete the work. The second general contractor was Gulf Coast Master Craftsmen. Michael Mortensen (owner and master craftsman) contacted me regarding my request for a quote and scheduled a meeting based upon my schedule which was approximately 6:30 pm to accommodate my work schedule. When I arrived home, Michael was waiting for me and we proceeded to discuss the work that was needed in addition to discussing additional work that I wanted completed. Michael recommend coming back the following day with equipment to better inspect the entire house trim to identify rotted areas in order to provide an accurate quote. A detailed quote was provided by the end of the day with pictures of damaged/rotted trim. Once approval was provided, Michael started the project within a few days. Michael notified me when he arrived at my property to start work in addition to sending me pictures at the end of the day of work performed. The project was completed in 2 days and I was once again asked to meet Michael to conduct a walk-through of work that was completed to ensure my satisfaction. The house looks much brighter (amazing what new trim and paint can do!) and although I did not anticipate having to replace house/chimney trim – Michael was able to respond and complete the work quickly to avoid disruption. I am extremely detailed and expect high level of service from anyone I hire. The work performed was seamless - the work blended well and does not look patchy which was a concern seeing as how sections were replaced. Michael addressed some observations I made related to paint splatters and even though some were from the previous owners Michael went above and beyond and cleaned up the brick. Michael clearly takes pride in his work and we will be using Michael in the near future for additional projects!

I really wanted to provide a good review to these guys if only for the repeated effort they put in trying to get it right. Once the owner started to blame me and my house for the struggles they had, I decided I needed to write an honest review. So I have a house that was built around 2000 and it has rolled on texture and stamped ceiling texture that is applied using spackling compound. This is very common in this area and prior painters have had no problem matching it. In this case the crew admitted to me they were not professional painters, they did not to keep the area neat (drips on carpet, stain on pool cool deck (photo), stain on garage wall (photo), muddy boot prints on stair carpeting (see photo), etc,), they could not create a straight line in corners where two paint colors merge (see white/blue paint photo), and did not know how to texture. The wall texture had to be done over three times - that is literal. I showed them how to do it. They eventually got that fairly well figured out. The ceiling was another story - the area that had a sheet rock repair was retextured 5 times over three visits (see white ceiling / gray wall paint photos). At first it was totally terrible and I had to tell them what ceiling texture stamping tool to buy from Home Depot (pretty much the main one they sell). One painter told me he watched utube to try and figure out how to use that tool but did not have any experience with texture. He was not satisfied with his own work, to his credit. Finally the owner came and redid it. I was dismayed to find how rough it looks. I have hired someone to re do it. I can not recommend this company. If you do hire them, don't pay up front like I did.

It went very well. During construction it was discovered that water had caused damage behind the siding. Michael designed the repair to better than new condition and installed it at a very reasonable cost and without delays.

Great! Finished in a timely manner. Went over any additional work that cropped up, detailing the additional costs; stayed within the budget we had set. No surprises.

Everything went very well. Michael has been in the business for a long time and he has a considerable amount of experience. He arrived early and did the work in a timely manner. He provided some suggestions on how the project could be done and did a great job!! I will definitely use him again for my next project or home repairs!

Understanding he was busy working, we finally got the projects scoped and estimated. Mike was able to work to our schedule of completing the work on the weekend since both of us work. He showed up on time and completed all projects in 1 day. Mike took care to put down heavy paper in the areas he would be trafficking and working, plus plastic covers over all furniture where he was working overhead. As the work progressed during the day, Mike would update us on what he was doing and to ensure the work was being done to our liking. Everything was cleaned up properly when the work was finished. Mike's quality of work was all we hoped for, was professional in all his dealings with us, and his fees were extremely reasonable. The best recommendation I can give him is that I would definitely use him again and definitely recommend you give him a try.

Michael did such a great job installing 2 windows in our dining room that we hired him a 2nd time! He painted our kitchen, added 2 electrical outlets and a can light over the sink. Michael does great work and is very reliable and pleasant to work with. Jeremy & Sandra, Kemah, Texas

Michael contacted us back withing 24 hours and we schedule a time to meet the following Saturday. Michael confirmed our meeting both two days prior and the morning of our scheduled meeting time. We really appreciated this as two other contractors prior to Michael just never showed. We walked the grounds and discussed what we wanted done afterwhich Michael sent us a written itemized scope & cost for our work. We accepted his proposal and schedule a start day and time. Michael & his assistant arrived as scheduled and 90% of the work was completed on day one. Michale then returned the following day to apply the wood sealer. The condition of the deck was not to his liking so he pressure washed it a second time prior to applying the sealer. Both my wife and I would recommend Michael and I'm sure we'll be needing his services again in the future.

I can't tell you how nice it is to find someone who truly cares about the job they do. From craftsmanship to the clean-up everything was great. We will definitely be using Mr. Mortensen to do some future projects.

He did it promptly and thoroughly. He went to the store and tried to get the right parts to complete the job. He also gave good recommendation of what needs to be done with other projects. Thank you.

Excellent! Mr Mortensen is timely and a bit of a perfectionist which I appreciate. Also he is kind and easy to communicate with when I was not sure how I wanted something.

Mr. Mortensen worked independently and very efficiently.  He procured the materials and worked for two days to restore the interior of our house to perfection.

The work was completed in a timely and efficient manner.  All the work and maintenance activities were performed in a community of fee simple townhome owners, and the project was kept clean and all communications with any owners was always very courteous.

Michael with "Master Craftsman" did a great job installing a 22' Large Lvl header beam in my Living room along with recess lighting.  Repaired the sheet rock texture and painted.  We are very satisfied with the quality of his work and plan on having do other renovations in our home.

I have known Michael Mortensen for about four years. In that time he has never disappointed us in the quality of his work. He is punctual ,works at an efficient pace, is responsive to customers request and has a pleasant manner. Michael Mortensen is truly a Master Craftsman.
