The owner’s name is Ernie. They did the work in about 20 to 30 minutes. They were nice. They did fine.

I can say enough great things about HandyGreen and the owner Ernie. He came out to give me an estimate on cleaning up my yard and tree trimming. He did a very thorough walk through with me to make sure everything was covered and also advised me on when the proper time is to cut back some of my plants and shrubs. I received an email from him within 24 hours with my quote, which I found to be very reasonable with the amount of work that needed to be done. As soon as i approved the estimate, Ernie gave me a service date right away. Ernie and his crew showed up promptly on the service day that we agreed on and the work was done in no time and exceeded my expectations. The guys were thorough and made sure all was nice and tidy once the work was done. I highly recommend HandyGreen, very professional, courteous and they do a great job!

This is a great lawn service company.  I have been using them for almost 2 years.  Ernie sends me a biweekly text to let me know the crew will be at my home on the following Monday. I will give you 2 examples of where this company excelled. First, was after the rainy spell we had in San Antonio.  After mowing an overgrown lawn, one of the HandyGreeen team noticed grass cuttings had blown into the pool and took it upon himself to skim the clippings out of the pool  The second happened this last Monday.  We had a tree service come in and I forgot it was my lawn service day as well.  Ernie reworked his team's schedule to fit me in later in the day.  We were surprised to see them roll up around 6 PM but they knocked out the whole yard and the results were great as usual.  If you are looking for a good lawn service company, my choice would be to call HandyGreeen. <br>

My husband and I have used Handygreen at three different houses for regular lawn mowing and clean up over the past few years. We have always been happy with the quality of the work.   <br />

Ernie and his team did an excellent job.  We have hired HandyGreen for our biweekly lawn care and also to perform special projects in our yard, such as new sod in our backyard.  HIs team is exceptionally professional.  For the bush trimming project his team not only cut everything back as we asked, but also coordinated with our neighbor behind to go into their yard and trim the back side of the bushes.  Once completed the team removed every trace of debris.  It looks fantastic. <br />

Great. Always texts the day before and we can cancel if we don't need service. It is so nice to come home to a well maintained yard. They will also do additional work in the flower beds if needed. <br />

<p>Unprofessional P***</p> <p>Ernie had been mowing my yard for two years and I never had a problem until...(yes, this is long but you should read how he tried to take advantage; especially if you are a woman.)</p> <p>I verbally indicated (over the phone) that he would have the job, saying "Once I receive the contract this afternoon, it appears the job is yours." Before I had signed the contract, even before Ernie Ochoa (the owner) had sent me the contract, he called to tell me he had sent a crew to my house to do some early prep work.  While on the phone with Ernie, I received a text message from my neighbor.  It was a picture of my chopped down Mountain Laurel.  His crew had cut down the wrong tree! (I'll let you imagine my anger.) His response was that he would replace with similar size. This was a $1000 tree he'd just killed. But, since I had history with Ernie, I let him proceed with the sod/mulch job. They began laying the sod right on top of my old hard dirt. I had to call Ernie to get them to "rough up" the ground.  Three days later they laid down the mulch.  I came home from work and checked underneath and there was no weed block. I had an email confirmation from him assuring me there would be two layers of commercial grade weed block under the mulch. When Ernie showed up the next day and I pointed out the absence of weed block he told me "oh, they used a liquid weed block. It's very good and you didn't have any weeds growing in the mulch area anyway so you don't have to worry."  I was shocked that he would think I'd believe that.  To press him, I said "So we just had a misunderstanding of the definition of two layers of commercial grade weed block, as stated in the contract?" and he actually said "yes".  Two days later I contacted him and told him he was going to have to lay down the weed block per the contract since that is what I'd paid for.  I finally got the weed block seven weeks later.</p> <p>The contract was 1/2 down at start and the balance due at job completion. Ernie charged the second half once the mulch was installed, but he never let me know he was doing this. I found out when my credit card notified me. I tried to reach Ernie, who was always prompt responding via text message, but I couldn't reach him.  Late that night I texted him that I had no choice but to file a dispute with my credit card because the job was not complete until the weed block was installed.  It turned out that Ernie had been in a car wreck and had spent the night at the hospital.  </p> <p>Throughout all this time, I kept asking Ernie to send me pictures of the replacement Mountain Laurel.  I did not think his version of a pretty tree would be the same as mine.  I offered to meet him at the tree farm, but he said I was not allowed on the premises. He sent pictures of a few trees, but they were all very small and at the most maybe 2 inch diameter.  My tree was 8 inch diameter. Ernie said he could not replace with a tree anywhere near the size that was cut down, that he just couldn't afford it.  I had specifically asked at the beginning of the project if he had insurance coverage and he showed me a certificate, saying he had to be covered due to his commercial side of the business. I don't know why he couldn't replace similar size, as he said he would at the beginning.</p> <p>The day the weed block was finally installed, eight weeks after the project began, Ernie realized my credit card company had withheld his charge for the balance of the project. He called me and proceeded to cuss and whine about not being able to buy anything and was being charged NSF fees right and left.  He even asked me to write him another check to help him out. I told him the funds would be released at completion of the job (per the contract) and the job was being completed as we spoke. He called back repeatedly that morning with more whining about not being able to buy anything.  He said he was going to have his lawyer sue me for all his NSF fees.  He told me he would no longer mow my yard; I'd have to find some other company.  Then he said he couldn't finish my job because the crew had run out of weed block and he couldn't buy more.  I told him I would call the company he was going to buy the weed block from and charge it to my card and his crew could pick it up since they were near the place having lunch.  I called and gave my card information and the crew returned from lunch with more weed block and finished the job.  I immediately called my credit card company and told them to release the funds.  Upon inspection of the weed block, I realized it was inferior to the original weed block that had been used.  I called the business back to confirm the final cost and to request a copy of the receipt. The person on the phone said no one had been by yet to pick up the weed block, that Ernie had told them he would be by later that day or the next morning to pick it up.  So I just bought Ernie $85 worth of weed block that was never used on my property.</p> <p>Replacement Mountain Laurel?  Not gonna happen.  I'm out a $1000 tree.  I say Ernie is a P***.</p> <br />

These guys are great.  Fire and forget.  I have been using them for over a year now and no issues.  They are quick to respond to questions and easy to work with. <br /> We had an issue with invoices being out of synch with payments at one point, but they were very quick to resolve and confirm that the issue was on their side and not mine.  Normal business hiccup and they managed it as well as could be expected.  Highly recommend. <br />

I have been using HandyGreen for almost a year and I could not be happier.  <br /> First, their crews do a fantastic job.  I have a large yard with lots of trees, uneven terrain, ruts and stumps.  Not to mention the pool, swings, trampoline and sheds.  It was challenge for me to keep up and mow/edge regularly.  HandyGreen comes in and the results are better than anything I could hope for on my own. <br /> Second, they are responsive.  With all the rain these past months, getting the lawn cut has been a challenge but not for this company.  They have always found away to keep up with their customers and get the job done.  The owner, Ernie, keeps me posted via texts and works a schedule that fits my schedule.  This past week we had to reschedule because he felt the ground was still to wet to mow and worked a slot for me later in the week.  I asked that he change it to a morning appointment so my son could have friends over that afternoon and his crew was there first thing in the morning. <br /> Third, price.  For the time and effort they put into my yard, I feel  I am a getting a great value.  My lawn looks great, I get a lot of time back and my frustration level with my yard and lawn equipment is gone. <br /> Here is my recommendation:  If you need a great reliable lawn service in San Antonio, HandyGreen should be one of your first calls.  You will not be disappointed. <br />

Owner came out day he was called for an estimate.  We felt like the price for the tree trimming was a fair price.  We had it done two years ago by another service and the price was more that what Handy Green charged us this year. <br /> They came the next day, trimmed 5 large trees and removed all cut branches and a massive amount of leaves.  They did such an excellent job that we hired them to do lawn maintenance every two weeks.  They are very couteous, professional and do an excellent job.  <br /> I would highly recommend using Handy Green. <br /> <br />

They talked me into switching over to them to do my lawn every weeks two and so I did do that but I ended up having some issues with them and some of issues that I had was that they didn't do what they said they would do and I was paying them a 100 a month whether my yard got mowed or not. I have already dismissed them. They are not doing my yard any longer. I have somebody else that is doing my yard. I guess I was thinking I would probably change their rating to the lawn moving. They said that they would cut back roses. They actually promised to do a lot of stuff. Like they said they would checkout my sprinkler system to make sure that it was covering the yard and that it was covering all the areas. They never did do that. They never touched any of the rose bushes unless I specifically payed an extra amount and in the winter time they did mow but they still needed to be paid and they said well that that was to come and trim back the crepe myrtles and I told them that I didn't want them to trim the crepe myrtles cut back. They insisted on being paid whether come and mow your yard or not. They don't really rate a D or a F because when they did the work they did fine. The price is probably okay but in this area your lawn goes dormant and it is cold people don't expect to have to pay for a yard to be mowed that is not being mowed. They definitely told me that they trying to keep the US Marshall that was across the street from me. They wanted to keep him happy and do everything that he wanted them to do.

They were excellent. It was a good price for how many leaves they had to haul up. I would use them again.

I would highly recommend them to anybody.

I used them about a year ago, it was an exterior spray and I think I used a coupon to do that. They were prompt, service was good, results were OK. I give them an 'A' on everything except the results, which I would give them a 'B'. The results were not as satisfactory as I had hoped, in terms of controlling insect pests. I would use them again in the future.

Ernie Ochoa is one of the most professional service providers I have had the pleasure of working with, as well as just an all-around nice guy.  His prices are very fair and competitive, but the difference between his services and those of other companies is that his crew consistently did an excellent job with our lawn and they provided extra services as needed, such as trimming shrubs and the large amount of jasmine, all without extra charge.  They showed up on time and finished quickly, and were friendly and professional.  If I had any particular concerns or questions, they were always ready to help.  Rain days would be rescheduled promptly.  Salina, who handled day-to-day correspondence and questions, was always a pleasure to work with and always returned calls or emails promptly.  Ernie is very much a hands-on owner.  He always made himself available.  He personally comes to the house to give estimates for both regular service and special projects. Ernie also designed and had his crew build a large 10'x50' bed in the front yard, which required digging out the grass, building a border with river rock, and filling with a garden mix.  He took my suggestions and combined them with his suggestions, marked off the bed with me there, and came up with a beautiful design. They also put in a couple of smaller beds in the front and took the leftover rock to the back yard and put in some borders around the back yard beds. The entire project cost $950. I highly recommend them. <br />

They don't bother to work with those that only need them once a month.  They expect you to fit their schedule, not them yours.

Ernie came out right away to provide an estimate.  His crew came the same day and did a great job cleaning up and bagging the massive amount of leaves our 3 red oaks dropped in the back yard.  We will definitely be using Handygreen again when the trees are done dropping leaves, as well as some other landscaping services in the spring. <br />
