Worked with Richard Angel who designed and oversaw the project. He was experienced and knew how to attach our challenges. We had some delays in getting started due to weather, but once started the project finished on time and on budget. Very pleased

This is a tough review to write because admittedly the owner of the business is very polite and very easy to work with. However the end result of our landscaping project was and continues to be very disappointing. All of the plants are much smaller than the original specifications resulting in a very unsubstantial looking landscape. I know that in time the plants will grow however for the amount of money spent I expected a little more. Additionally some of the workers used were argumentative when I tried to discuss simple layouts of the planting beds with them and ask for certain things to be changed. These were not unreasonable drastic changes but rather simple changes to the curvature or the shape of the beds rather than do with the owner of the house wanted the workers refused to do anything other than what the boss told them to do. Perhaps the most frustrating of all is the fact that I ended up with a very significantly sloped side yard. It is so sloped that my riding lawnmower keeps sliding off the slope and falling into the woods below. What is really aggravating is that I anticipated this problem and told them multiple times that the grade needed to be shallower to prevent such a thing from happening yet all I got was argument and it never did get resolved. Now I am left with a severely sloped yard that I'm having to work on myself to correct by ripping out grass changing the grade building a Rockwall to build up the low side. All could've been prevented in the first place during the final grade of this new construction project.

It went well with Harder & Warner Nursery Inc. They were on time, courteous, did the job that they said they were going to do and they were pretty reasonable in price. They were helpful in trying to decide the best type of tree to have along with the care that we should give the tree.

Harder & Warner took out our old landscaping and replaced with new late last fall in October 2012. Everything looked great, there were some of our underground sprinklers that were broken, but we called and they came out and fixed them <br /> Then came spring- April so our landscaping was not very old. There were weeds coming up everywhere. We called Harder & Warner and they came out and sprayed with some weed and grass killer, then left what was left in the bottle and said we would need to continue to do this and once the weeds die pull them. Our comment was if there was ground cover down we should not have so many weeds especially for a new job. When we went over what we wanted done we said we wanted " Little to no maintenance." right from the start. <br /> The corner of our lot was the worst. Well we sprayed but there were so many weeds that it was impossible even being very careful not to get the plants. So they died. We bought new plants, figuring this was our fault and replaced what we had killed. Only to find out when planting there was no ground cover put down. There was near the house but not out on the corner. Twice since May I have called, they asked what I expected them to do. And we told them we paid for ground cover they should come out and put some down. They took my name and phone number and said someone would contact me within a few days. No one called back, or came out. <br /> Very poor on customer service, we went with this company because they had great reviews a few years ago. Disappointed in Walker. <br /> <br />

I went back into last year's records to find that your designer was a wonderful man we fired last year for his innovative drawings and years of experience. Unfortunately, his attention to detail was not up to our standards and he is no longer with us. The foundation of our business for 68 years is extreme customer service. Even though your designer is gone, I am still here ready to address your concerns. I see your job was completed late fall, but we are open year round to take care of you. Every business wishes that everything would always go perfectly, but when it doesn't it is how the problems are handled that proves it's worth! It is like life itself. The tough stuff and how it is handled is what makes us stronger. I will be contacting you personally to go over your entire installation. Kathy Warner Owner I went to meet with [ member's name removed] to review his landscaping. His home is lovely and he had no issues with the landscaping. He was disappointed that we did not call last fall to check in. I apologized profusely and explained that his designer was so longer with us but we would love to work with him further. We are hoping to do some fall cleanup for him."

Very prompt at call backs with estimate of service. Came out when I couldn't be there to take a look at property and left estimate the same day. <br /> Service was done within 2-3 weeks. (provided it was just as their big season hit full throttle). <br />

Initially we picked out three trees from their lot and had them installed. They completed the job promptly and at a competitive price. They discount their plants and trees in the fall so we received a significant price break. The tree install went well with no harm done to my yard and grass despite need for heavy equipment . It's been a few months and the trees continue to look strong and healthy. <br /> We soon afterward used them for a second project in the same yard. To complete the landscaping we asking them to make a design, then we'd buy, transport and install the plants ourselves. They call this the "we plan, you plant" project and their designers were available any time. We brought in a survey with dimensions/layout of our backyard as well as a number of pictures. The designer drew a plan on the spot (while discussing our ideas & goals), took us around the nursery to select plants, and we took a truck load home that day. The results, after following their plan, was quite good. We saved a lot of money using this processes over hiring a professional to do everything and were very satisfied. One plant seemed to dry out quickly (of the 30 or so we bought) but with extra watering I'm hopeful it will pull through. We also bought 4 yards of hardwood mulch from them. Transported it ourselves. <br />

Harder and Warner had a great selection of the type of tree we were interested in (weeping conifer). The staff was courteous and helpful in marking the tree and writing up the invoice and directions. They went out of their way to deliver it on our desired day, even though they typically don't work that day. When they arrived, I met them at the street, they surveyed the target location and planned an approach. They carefully prepared the tree for planting, dug the hole, and eased the tree in place. They added new soil and fertilizer, smoothed the area around the tree and added a nice layer of mulch. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable. They were professional and efficient. They cleaned up nicely before they left.

From the beginning Harder & Warner Nursery Inc was very professional. When I called and spoke to a lady that was working there she did not have the information at her fingertips so she took my name and somebody called me back. The price they quoted was exactly what they charged. They gave me a break because I was flexible on my scheduling and allowed them to do the job when they were in the area, I did not have to pay the transportation fee. The price also included trimming around all the areas with a mechanical digging tool.

We met the designer at H&W and showed her pictures of our house and existing landscape. She came out and measured and came back to us with a plan within our budget. She was very professional and friendly and understood what we wanted.

excellent communication time and skills with receptionist and landscaper/designer. was easy to get along with and understand. quick estimate turn-around, along with turn-around for the job getting done. took about 3 weeks total (in late spring). never called day of when they were coming, i would have liked knowing they were doing something (since i live alone). all in all, would call again and recommend.
