Hardy Handyman Service

Project was to install an attic drop down ladder in the garage. Estimate was $1500.00. Estimate was provided prior to Keith inspecting the area or taking any measurements. April 27, 2026: Keith arrived at 9am. Left at 1:30 or 2:30pm Total cost was $1775.00 per invoice. The total hourly labor cost was $306.52! The ladder is not usable because it opens on the end away from the interior attic door. Two technicans have tried to use the ladder and have almost fallen into the garage because they have to "climb" into the attic area - which means climbing over the open area of the ladder opening - and almost falling. Very unsafe and not usable. Basically, a drop down ladder was installed that cannot be used safely. Invoice indicated the following: Ladder, lumber, hardware: $395.67 Labor: Hang attic ladder, frame door, fix step riser: $1379.33 Resolution: a refund of $1300.00 I do not want Hardy Handyman in my garage. Additionally, Hardy Handyman provided an estimate for painting my basement - walls and floors. This is a 3 bedroom ranch. The painting estimate was $4600.00. FYI: painting estimate from another Angi contractor was $1400.00. It appears that Hardy Handyman is over pricing jobs. I will not work with Hardy Handyman. I do not want him doing any work at my house. I want a refund for everything except the ladder. I will find a non-Angi contractor to fix the ladder so it is safe to use.

He quoted me what I thought was a fair price. He arrived on time. He did what I asked in a professional, courteous manner. He told me how to avoid the problem in the future and showed me how to avoid it and sold me the tool to use, at my request, to correct it. Absolutely would use him again.
