worst experience ever. Handyman had no idea what he was doing. Angie's was providing special deals for high rated companies. But, he only had one or two reviews. I complained but it fell on deaf ears and Angie's list refused to refund my money. That's why i haven't been back in six years. I saw their new ads though about guarantees so am reconsidering using the site.

I purchased a Big Deal for 3 hours of Handyman Services for $69; I had a few items I was looking to get completed that should have easily been able to have been completed in the 3 hour time frame, which included putting up 2 floating shelves, a bathroom cabinet on the wall, and moving 2 curtain rods up 4 inches each. The gentleman arrived about 10 minutes late, which was fine, but he brought with him what he was calling his "apprentice", who was more like a homeless person he had picked up on the way over-the apprentice had no tools, was not dressed appropriately, and had no idea about anything related to being a handy man. It not only took almost 2 hours to put up 2 floating shelves, they were not put in the right place! They put up the cabinet in the bathroom after 2 sets of holes to find the studs, and when it came time for the third task, he realized he didn't have the right tools, and he was going to CHARGE us to go back to get his tools! At that point, my husband and I decided to cut our losses, paid the $69 and let them go. We have since had the shelves removed, the walls repaired, and the shelves re-hung where we asked for them in the first place and the bathroom cabinet removed, the walls repaired, and hung our own shelving thanks to my contractor cousin who was in town for vacation! I know this has been almost 3 years now, and I hate to leave negative reviews, but this guy really took the cake...
It was okay though it wasn't the best. I have to pay more because it was just one section of the gate but I did not hire them anymore. I asked them to put in writing exactly what to expect with the amount to pay. They were prompt and did the job as agreed but I didn't see the quality job I was expecting. I will not hire them again.

Jeff came over yesterday and assessed the job. He needed to rent a 40? ladder so by the time he rented the ladder; we decided he should start the next day. It was a two man job & turned out to be a bigger job than we thought. Jeff and his partner were very friendly and hard working, and I am satisfied with the job done.

I made an appointment for this man to show up on December 4. He did not show up for his appointment. I called him on the 6th of December, and he said he would be here on the 7th. He arrived 40 minutes late for his appointment. After arriving, he said he would need to call an electrician. I have not heard from him since the 7th!

Awful. 3 days of lies. My orange tree was picked clean of edible oranges without permission. The owner brought help that had no experience at all. Then the owner left during work and left some inexperienced guy to work like a slave. He worked feverishly and everything he touched is awful. The gates for the wood were not painted on the side before being assembled. Therefore the fence will warp as soon as it rains. All the paint on the rest of the house was applied over dirt. He said that it was sanded. However, it wasn't. It wasn't cleaned. I have to redo everything. I paid and lost 3 days of my life. He said don't pay for the last day $172. I said that he didn't work, his workers did. He is mean and angry. I paid. I hope he doesn't kill me for writing the truth. No one will pay me for all the new materials I bought and spent time to get. Then the helper cleaned the paint brushes with turpentine over the roots of my orange tree. I am in shock.

Bad- I had to fire him and pay him off. He was paid for two large screens to be delivered and installed. Basically he pocketed the money (around $220.00.) I paid for 10 GFI's and he apparently took two of these (another $44.00.) He removed the caulking on one of the sinks that I did not ask him to do. After he was gone I contacted him about the screens but he never delivered them. (He said that they were on special order-special order to his bank account apparently.) Also, I later found a large hole in the wall underneath one of the sinks he was working on. I could list other things, but I think you get the overall message. One of the problems is that I live about 40 miles away from the condo (located in Los Angeles) he was doing the work on. I could not monitor his daily work and he took advantage of that fact. I later hired a licensed plumber to properly finish the work that Jeff Harris was taking forever to complete. That plumber did the work in a small fraction of the time Jeff Harris was taking. Finally, checking with the California State License Board, for the life of me, I do not find that Harris Handyman & Rooter has a contractor's license. The license# listed on your web site is #0002475798. Does that exist? Do you guys verify the information that these vendors place on your website? Update 12/10/10: I just want to update and correct the prior report. In the last week Jeff Harris delivered the new large screens for the slider doors. So that is no longer a problem with me.

HORRIBLE. I bought the BIG DEAL from Angie's list, he showed up on time for giving me estimate. I gave him three options-- install fans, do some finishing on the flooring or paint the doors with some touchup inside. I was given an estimate of 3 hours (for which I already had the coupon from Big Deal) we agreed (in writing) on three hours and if it takes longer the complete job will not exceed $100. 1. He was late. 2. He did not do any work himself, and the guy he hired knew nothing about painting. 3. Threaten twice to leave the job unfinished and walk out 4. Shoddy insincere work (for God sake its painting not rocket science)

Prompt in returning my call and right on time to our service appointment. We reviewed my issues with the sink and he suggested the clean out as I do clear the drains myself often. He did a proper job on the install of the clean out. He used the large machine snake for the drain cleaning. With his reasonable pricing I decided to get the hot and cold stems replaced in my shower. All repairs are working fine 1 week later. What a great experience compared to the rooter service my wife called last time. I will be using Harris plumbing again.
