After trying to find someone to install tile we purchased for our kitchen backsplash i saw this company and Mr. Hartsock did not disappoint. He responded very quickly and within 7 days from my first inquiry he had the job completed. I can not say enough positive things about this company. Would definitely hire him again (in fact our neighbor saw the work he did and will be reaching out to him).

We ordered the $1799 walk-in shower deal for the ensuite bath, and we were scheduled within just a few days of first contact. We ended up paying a bit more just because we decided to run the new tile higher than the original, and we were so pleased with that result that we hired Steve to retile the tub surround in the main bath. Steve works alone and he is very meticulous about his work, so don't expect him to be in and out in a day or two, but if you're not happy with your results you probably won't be happy with anyone.

Very nice job on installation of a small kitchen subway tile back splash under trying circumstances. Best price quote and good work.

Steve was wonderful. He gave us a very fair price, completed the job in a reasonable amount of time, kept the mess to a minimum and our bathroom came out looking great! We asked him to make a small change in the tiling to avoid having one small piece in a corner after he had started and he made the change no problem. I'd definetly hire him again.

Great experience - can't recommend Steve enough. We can honestly say that the overall results exceeded our expectations. Reasonable price, great job with the finishing and clean up, and Steve did a great job blending the different tile types to get the look we wanted. We would definitely use him again!

"Thank you so much for the kind words. It was a pleasure working with you and your wife. You have a kitchen to be proud of! I'm jealous. I'm still living with my old original kitchen. Maybe 2018 will be my year."

Hartsock did not use same color as requested (stay with original off white color) when we saw the shower pan and tile we insisted he change. He was not happy and begin to slow down. He also throw away shower doors without asking and we cannot find a replacement. They also cannot install new shower hardware as him and his so call Plummer did not know how nor even try. I end up going to manufacture website looked at video and installed myself. He also charged $400 extra . Will never use them again.
Response from Hartsock Tile Co
"I explained to my customer that tile on a 25 to 30 year old shower walls cannot be matched. Tile companies change colors after 7 or 8 years. You have to get close in color. The customers wife insisted in picking the tile color. That was fine with me. She came to the tile store (Dal Tile- a major tile store chain). I did make a mistake and bought a white shower pan. The old one was almond or bone color. They pointed this out to me, and I agreed with them. I got the bone colored pan and replaced the white one. I did not complain to them or act angry. It was my mistake. This was extra time to change the pan that I did not get paid for. The pan color did not match the old one, it was in the ball park. I could not return the white pan because I cut up the box. Lesson learned for me. 30 year old shower doors cannot be reused. They had 30 years of dirt and soap scum. On top of that they have caulking on the bottom track and the side tracks. Their shower is 48" wide. This is not a standard, in stock size. Any size shower door set can be ordered from a shower door company. There are many times when there are extra costs on a bath remodel or shower remodel. This shower remodel had them all. Extra framing (2x4s) so I have a firm backer for the durock tile backer. Drywall repair on the left side and right side of the shower walls. Install greenboard pieces, then finish with compound two coats. Sand, then primer coat. Customer stated he would do color coat. Replace the one row of tile in front of the new pan. And grout. The shower faucet kit the customer bought was a Home Depot off brand. My plumber has never installed one of these. Plumbers buy name brands (Moen, Delta) from plumbing supply stores.and there is never a problem installing those. Cheap, Home Depot brands can be a problem. The instructions were not good on this cheap HD set. My plumber has 20+ years of experience and he is a licensed plumber. . He did try to install this set and the instructions were not good."

After contacting numerous tiling companies and getting nowhere ( job is too small;we can't fit you in until September;we only do jobs if we provide all the tiles) I contacted the Hartsock company. He was interested in my small-ish project right away and came to house to evaluate job. Set a very reasonable price and the work was done beautifully the next week

Great! Steve and his son really understand tile work, and are true professionals at what they do. When Steve discovered that our original contractor had improperly spaced the studs in the wall surrounding the shower, he was able to install a piece of plywood behind the tile work to lend additional strength. Very happy with the results!

The Provider does great work. It's a father and son team that really knows their business. They used first-rate materials and the were able to complete the work in about 2.5 days. We had ceramic tiles that began to fall out of the wall in our master bathtub/shower. We bought a package through Angie's list to have the work done. They arrived when the said they would and they finished on the timetable they promised. We had no issues finding tiles in their inventory to match what we needed. They were careful to cleanup when they were done. I have no complaints about the craftsmanship or the materials used.

The only point of concern that I had was that they were hard to reach to set up the initial consultation. After reviewing the work to be done, it was about 10 days until they could work us into their schedule, but it took more than two weeks to get them to come for the initial review, and we started to look at other providers to get the work done. From beginning to end, the process took almost 5 weeks, so if you are in a hurry, you might look at someone who either has a larger staff or less of a backlog of work.

It was bad because he offered an additional fee to install a new shower's bidet and temperature gauge and did it so poorly that it leaked water all over the ceiling below and now the drywall guy's giving me an estimate to repair the water damage. His tiling was fine. He shouldn't have offered services as a plumber because he clearly isn't a good one. If you need tiling done, he's decent but if you need something else done, you should get someone else.
"I am sorry there was a problem with the shower valve. I tried to contact your husband three times at his work number. I also left my cell phone number so he could call me back, and he never called back. I would have come back to look at your valve. I would have taken care of it. Is there still an issue?"

It was a real pleasure to work with Steve Hartsock and I am extremely pleased with the results of my bathroom renovation project. The quality of work and client service Steve provided to me exceeded my (already high) expectations. I contracted with Hartsock Tile Co. to retile the shower in my master bathroom in December 2014. The shower - installed 20 years ago by the original builder - was in terrible shape. The tile was loose and cracked in many places and badly mildewed, and most of the grout and caulking was crumbling or even missing. It was not a pretty sight.
I purchased an Angie's Deal for retiling a shower enclosure, and Steve was in touch with me to schedule an appointment within a day, accommodating my work schedule to come out to my home to look at the project. I requested an estimate to replace the foundation and completely retile the shower floor (as opposed to the standard pre-fab shower pan covered in the Deal) in addition to the retiling of the walls, and add a tiled shower niche and upgraded plumbing hardware. The estimate was very reasonable for these add-ons.
Steve worked on this project for 7 or 8 days, beginning with pulling out the old shower frame, which I plan to replace. This project was complicated by my earlier decision NOT to remodel the entire bathroom nor replace the older tile surrounding the large soaking tub next to the shower. So, in addition to upgrading the shower with modern touches, Steve was asked to match 20-year old tile to make his work blend seamlessly with the older existing tile. He met this goal by carefully selecting a similar tile (color, size and finish), adding a decorative glass tile border to the shower stall and replacing the older plumbing hardware with nicer-looking fixtures. To accommodate the new shower floor drain and plumbing, he had to cut through the ceiling of the room below the bathroom, after which he did an excellent job of patching and painting - you can't even tell it was done.
I am thrilled with the results of his work! He is a true craftsman and very meticulous in his tile work. He did all the work himself as opposed to subcontracting it out. The shower looks absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to see it with the new frameless enclosure. I give Steve my highest recommendation for the work he did in my master bathroom, and just as importantly, for his willingness to discuss my project, listen to what I wanted done, provide thoughtful recommendations to meet my project goals and stay within my strict budget.
I will certainly call him again when I need additional tile work done. Thanks very much for the great job and service, Steve!
Overall, I was satisfied with the work, and Steve is skilled in his tile work. The bathroom looks much better than it did before, and he provided the work at a reasonable price. He recommended going with a company that specializes in shower door installations for the shower door, so he'll honestly let you know what he can and can't do well.
The Good:
He provided reasonable expectations on the timeline of the work and delivered in time. He estimated about 8 days and took about 9 consecutive weekdays to complete the work. (Good work ethic)
His tile work is pretty good. (Decent quality tile work)
He was able to do things other than just tile, such as installing the vanity and toilet and plumbing fixtures. (Handy)
If any issues arose, he was willing to come back and fix the issue (see below). (Integrity)
What could be improved:
His initial quote lacked details, so I ended writing a much more detailed agreement that we both agreed upon. It would be nice for the customer to have a detailed quote provided by the contractor. Once during the project, he asked me to request access to the ceiling of my neighbor below to do the work but eventually found a workaround. I felt that this is something that should have been mentioned before the work started. (Professionalism)
He caused a little bit of accidental damage in the bedroom through the bathroom wall but agreed to fix it when told about it. (Cautiousness)
The single handle shower valve was installed with hot and cold reversed at first, but he came by the same day when notified to fix it. (Quality)
There were a few minor additional costs in the project which I feel could have been communicated better. I do understand that things come up, so this wasn't a big deal. (Communication)
In summary, I would feel comfortable with Steve's tile work, but there were some minor hiccups during the project that were a slight inconvenience (which explains the B in quality). However, it was a positive experience. He did a lot of arduous work, and it is much appreciated.
Yes, I would recommend Steve Hartsock for tile work and other general work.
"I want to thank [member name removed] for his mostly positive review of my work in his bathroom. Also for his pictures that he included with the review. As you can read by his review, he is a very skilled writer. My writing of the contract is not up to his level, but my skill is in tilework and other construction trades. His review was an honest writing of what happened in his bathroom."

Phenomenal performance from the quote to the finished product.
Installed large rectified porcelain tiles and intrigue mosaic tile pattern in bathtub area.
Arrived on-time every day. Worked tirelessly and kept us informed of the progress during the entire job.
Will definitely be hiring again when we redo the master bath.
Mr. Hartsock did an excellent job. He was courteous, on time, responsible, and performed all the work to my expectations. I had no complaints at all. He is very skilled in his profession and was recommended by one of the top tile companies in the area at that time. I do not remember how much it cost because there were multiple rooms involved. However, I do remember that I got bids at the time from three recommended tile companies, and Mr. Hartsock’s bid was comparable to the others.

Hartsock Tile installed a windmill floor tile design combining 18x18 and 12x12 tiles which extended into a pantry and utility room. Additionally, a mosaic backsplash was installed which required a combination of two designs as well as endcap trim. Total backsplash area covered 3 walls. The completed project turned out much better than expected and within the estimated price quote (excluding materials). Hartsock Tile had to special-cut the backsplash mosaic tile to obtain the pattern I desired. Their work was exceptional. They did a great job cleaning up and completed the job within the agreed-upon timeframe.
Other than this job, Hartsock Tile also remodeled 2.5 bathrooms and foyer prior to the kitchen job, all with great results.
