"(deleted member name), I am as shocked to your posting as I was to your wife’s call the day of installation. I am not even sure where to begin. Thank you for feedback that you left my company. We try very hard to make our customers happy from the time of estimate to the time of completion. My son has been working with us for over 15 months, so leaving Nicholas on the jobsite alone should not be an issue. A wet glass cutter was brought to work that morning, but we were not getting the results we liked, so Tony went to get a new blade for the larger wet saw, which he did not bring that morning due to the weather. He was gone less than an hour. We feel Nicholas did the right thing by asking you to help with the stove being moved, as he did not want to scratch your floors. Should Tony have moved the stove before he left? Yes. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Was Tony gone for the entire project? No. Read your own words: he returned to do the detail and intrigue cuttings. We helped you pick the tile, gave you our material discount and picked the materials up for you at no charge. We installed the tiles correctly. When we left, you were very happy. If you found anything that disturbed your taste, all you had to do was ask us to fix it. Instead you did not allow us back in your home to even see the problems. Your wife called and told me you were unhappy. I asked to see pictures of the issues. Two were supplied. One was of the tiles that fell off the wall? But you stated you could barely get them off in your posting– odd, and one was where the tile spacing was not to your liking. These tiles are pre set on the 12 x 12 mats, the spacing is pre set. We offered to remove them and reinstall but you would not let us return to even see the issues that same night. I assured your wife that the material could be saved, even if I had to hand set the whole back splash. Mastic was used for installation. When mastic is moistened, it re-emulsifies and the material could be saved that night, you sir refused. Not only did you refuse, you would not even come to the phone. The law reads, a contractor has the right to try and correct their work. You would not even allow us to return to remove the work and replace your materials. Your wife told us to deposit the check but there would be no further payment. I offered to return the check, but she stated we earned the check. I did cash your check. And I have since checked with the tile supplier and verifying that you did not replace all the material, so you could not have replaced the entire backsplash. Our standard procedure on back splash installation is to review all work and cuts prior to grouting when we return the next day. Any bad cuts, crocked tiles etc, are removed and replaced before grouting. Once again you did not allow us this opportunity. You stated our installation took longer than expected. It was installed in six hours: we gave you a two day completion period, returning the third day to clean and seal. We did not go over our estimated time. We have offered in the past to remove the material and fix the installation if you were unhappy. We have offered to replace your material in full. You stopped all communication until this posting. If you are still unhappy with your backsplash, I will offer one last time to come in and look at your issues. You had a five year written warranty on all completed installations. You did not let us complete the work, but we are still willing to honor this policy. I have no idea what has occurred since Tony and Nicholas left your property. According to both workers you were very happy when they left. I am still willing to look at the work and make any necessary repairs. If you change your mind, please contact us; 317-414-6797. We stand behind our work and workers. Sincerely, Hawk Tile"
