H & B HARDWOOD FLOORS

Company was hired to refinish hardwood floors. They did not address boards which needed replacing and or filled with wood filler. Poor workmanship and very expensive.

Mr. Arauz and his son were prompt, professional, and did beautiful work. They matched the bedroom thresholds perfectly with the previously installed hardwood hallway, and with original tile floor in the master bath. It all looks as if it was original. We had the floors refinished several years ago by a different company ,and it was a dusty mess, somehow this was incredibly clean. They vacuumed behind themselves as they sanded and it was hard to tell they had been there when they were done.

Hermes, was great and punctual. Loved the finished on the wood flooring. Great job!

I called Mr Arauz a week before for a quote and he scheduled me for the next day at 11am. He called me to say that he was free an hour earlier and I said that's fine. He showed up on time, took measurements of all the rooms then gave me the quote on the spot. I asked how long was he booked out too and he said about three days. I called back the following Monday to schedule and he said not till the following week. I needed the floors done sooner so he said he would call me back. He called later that day to say he could do it Friday. That worked out great. On Friday he and his crews were there early and worked through out the day. At the end of the day he said he would come back Saturday morning for the second coat. Saturday morning he was there early, applied the second coat and said he would be back at one o'clock for the final coat. Mr. Arauz came back as promised to finish the job. The floors came out beautiful. I'm very happy with the results and the work performed. <br />

Great, excellent result, very flexible and Hermes makes sure to leave everything perfect. Great guy and he's got a good team.

Hermes, the owner of the company, is punctual and professional. He truly cares about doing a good job for his customers. <br /> We hired his company to remove the carpet in two bedrooms and refinish the existing wood floors underneath the carpet. He and I discussed the color of the wood. I decided that the blonde wood could stay that color. He was hired to fill in the nail holes from the carpet and then sand and refinish the floors. When the carpet was pulled up, we noticed that the threshold between the room and the bathroom was missing. Hermes went out, found a piece of wood to match and created a threshold for us. The floors looked beautiful when he was done. However, my husband and I decided that the light color did not really go with the rest of our house. So, we re-hired Hermes to come back, strip the floors and stain them a darker color. The floors look stunning! <br /> My interior decorator saw the floors and was very impressed. She asked for his contact info. She plans on calling him for future jobs. <br /> I couldn't be happier with Hermes and his company. They were careful, respectful, punctual and professional. I would highly recommend this company. I do not usually write reviews but felt that it was important to let people know that this is a company well worth hiring. <br />

Hermes, showed up on time both to provide an estimate and perform the work. Absolute pleasure-showed up each day promptly, cleaned up and the finished product was perfect. <br />

Hermas showed up on time. Three times cleaned up nice and did a beautiful job. He did not ask for a deposit until after first day.

This father and son team worked hard to restore some battered hardwood floors in a condominium. The floors turned out well. Even the mother came one day to help with the clean up. I then used them to install some wood in another home. They showed up on time and got the job done. I would use them again. <br />

Hermes and his helper are true gentleman. all business and the quality of the work is super.It was better than I expected.Our floor had many flaws and it was dirty and scratched. Also one of the white oak hardwood strips was termite ridden and Hermes and his helper replaced it with expertise and precision. They used dust bags and a commercial grade vacuum connected to dust bag on sander and it contained 99 percent of the sawdust. Thet cleaned up the work area very well when finished. I would gladly use H & B floors again and look forward to doing business with them. <br />

Was looking to refinish wood floors before moving in.  Owner of business came to the house and told us the floors were in good condition and only needed buffing and polishing.  Someone else would have come in and refinished the wood floors for a lot more money.  Very happy with the price and the results.  I would highly recommend them. <br />

I needed someone to refinish my floors (sanding, buffing, etc.).  After many failed attempts of hiring other companies that had more reviews in Angie’s List (some of them I scheduled appointments 3 times and 3 times I got stood up!!), I finally came across H & B Woodfloors.   <br />   <br /> I would like to first start my very positive review by saying that HERMES is a MAN OF HIS WORD.  He picked up the phone the very first time I called him and we immediately scheduled an appointment.  He was NEVER LATE to any of our appointments; he was sometimes even 5 minutes early, which was something I was very happy about since I needed to go to work.  Hermes told me exactly how many days he would be working on the floors, and it took him exactly the amount of time that he told me.  As a working person, I could never stay at my home while he worked on the floors, and so I trusted him and gave him my keys so that he could come and go as he needed to work on the floors without me having to be at the apartment, and without having my work interrupted.  I was in the beginning worried that the sanding would put dust in the air and ruin my recently painted walls, but this did not happen, and the minor dust that sometimes got away (just a very few spots) he quickly vacuumed.  The floors came out looking gorgeous, a lot better than what I even imagined.  It makes my apartment look so beautiful and renovated.  I am a very satisfied customer and I would strongly recommend him.  The price was also very good ($2.50 per sq ft).   <br /> <br />

We had water damage to the wood floors in one of our bedrooms.  We had called many companies to get some estimates.  Many of the companies we called said that they would come to give us an estimate but then never showed up.  H&B, however, was on time every time they came to our house.  They always did exactly what they said they were going to do.   Of the estimates we received, H&B's was competitive.   <br /> They divided up the job over 2 days -- one for removal and one for installation.  The first day all went well and they hauled away the damaged wood floor and subfloors. They cleaned up after themselves too.  On the second day, they started installing the wood flooring we had purchased.  It turned out that the wood was not the one we intended to purchase.  H&B stopped work and rescheduled the date for installation after we received the correct wood flooring -- with no increase in price.  The floors now look better than the originals. I highly recommend this company -- hard working, great attention to detail and excellent customer service. <br />

I was very pleased with their work, they were great!

The company never used plastic raps to cover utilities, thus affected most of my personal belongings with dust from the sanding. They never matched the stain color we originally agreed upon. The floor stain was unevenly applied through the living room and both bedrooms, leaving big darker stain marks. They splashed stain against the walls and as a result had to have my entire interior repainted. The out most was not; the Caterpillar shoe print on the fresh wood floors that was highly visible, as facing the entrance, which they discretely tried to dissimulate by adding additional coats of stain causing the footprint to be even more apparent; but them blaming me for the footprint. That is when I really knew that I was dealing not only with incompetents but thieves. As a result, I asked them to restart the job process.They disagreed, answering they had other clients to attend. Had to hire another contractor, who had never seen such a below standard refinish.

I HAVE USED THEM BEFORE AND THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN LATE ONCE. THEY DO A BEAUTIFUL JOB SANDING, FINISHING AND POLISHING MY HARDWOOD FLOORS. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SATISFIED WITH THE WORK THAT THEY DO.
