It was quick, and the technician they sent (Seff) was extremely friendly and knowledgable about a variety of pests, and eager to share with us what was going on with our ant and spider situation. Helen, who I chatted with online and spoke with on he phone, made everything easy to schedule and answered all my questions about pricing, timing and materials promptly and to my satisfaction.

To begin with, I was so pleased with the lady who answered the phone. She got me an appointment quickly and was sympathetic about my bug invasion. <br /> The technicians arrived promptly. They set out ant bait (the stuff you can't get at Home Depot), sprayed inside and out, and within an hour my ant problem was history. <br /> They also treated my yard for gophers and found and removed a bee hive further out in the yard that was lurking in the sprinkler control box. These treatments were additional cost items. <br /> Dave is the fellow who comes when I have any new issues. He is very helpful and courteous. <br /> The only limitation I've had with Hearts is one time I had a bee invasion in my house, and because of the location (so close to where the ceiling and roof met), Hearts couldn't help me. I called "The Bee Guy" who helped me. <br /> Something to keep in mind is that each location is its own franchise. The people (management, dispatch and technicians) at the Rancho Bernardo location are different than the others. <br />

The gophers were destroying my lawn. I called Hearts so I could be rid of them. They placed poison in the gopher holes and broke down their tunnels. Initially, it only took about an hour, but they came back twice when the gophers reopened some holes. After that final visit, I haven't had any more gopher issues.

They make the ants go away. I use the office that’s in San Diego. I don’t know how much we pay, because my husband takes care of the bills. I also like that I have the option of requesting an organic, non-toxic spray, even though those don’t work as well. Another good thing is that if I have a problem with the ants in between regular services, they come and take care of it anyway.

The experience did not go well. I had already trapped several and covered up some screens. I could still hear some but he never caught any. But, he came when I wasn't here and supposedly covered up some areas he thought they were getting in that you can't see or get to without help and special equipment. When I talked to him the phone he said I just already did that and I can't see it or anything. As far as I know, I don't know if he did anything or not. I don't think I would recommend them.

They were great. It went great for several months and then they were selling up. They come and do something completely different. It started out really well and I don't know what happened. A new person will show up each time and they never knew what they were supposed to do or what we were signed up for. It was kind of weird and we stopped them. When I had a regular service with them for six months it went well but then the new guys didn't know what they were suppose to do. I don't know if the company got sold or what, it just went downhill. One guy called up and said it was time to retry the service again and that the interest free term got really easy and it was lower than what it was six months ago, so he topped us into it, after which it really went bad. I lost confidence in them.

In 2008, a female technician started a gopher service for you. She later moved out of state. In 2009, a young man serviced your home the whole year until, due to our success in Orange county was moved to service our growing client load there. Our next technician only serviced your home once. He is a very fine gentlemen, with a college background, a military veteran with a wife serving in the military. He is very well qualified, but needed time to understand your needs. He and another technician with 30 years experience now service Carlsbad. Please understand that normal changes happen in the lives of individuals. The company is a very progressive, employee oriented company. We always have two technicians (primary and backup) for each property, in case of vacations or sick time. You can call me any time. I am very impressed and pleased with this company. They are professional and knowledgeable. They are polite and helpful on the phone and also when they come to service your property. They are clear about when they will come and what you need to do to be ready. They let you know the night before. They will not overcharge you or give you a service that is unnecessary. I spoke with the owner of the company to make a change in my service and he was great. He gave me a price break and seemed pleased to do so. I have dealt with other pest management companies and can see a clear difference in the service I am receiving. I highly recommend Heart's Pest Management, Inc. and will not think of using anyone else.

They did a good job of getting rid of the rats in the house. I was talked into having bait stations set up outside even though I have dogs. I was assured that the dogs would be safe. But 3 days ago one of my dogs was poisoned by rat poison. Fortunately she survived. I'm assuming that the rain washed bait out of the bait stations. I wasn't treated well when I called to ask to get the stations removed. The person who took my call was unprofessional, questioning how it was possible my dog got poisoned, and wanted to chat. Since someone just happened to be coming out that day to service the stations, she said she would tell him to removed the stations. He didn't get the message and filled the stations back up. When I called back to ask that he come back , this same person was rude and hung up on me. He did come back and removed the stations. But he left one saying he couldn't find it. Later, I was able to find it, called the office and got the same rude treatment and was hung up on again. I called back spoke to the same person,and asked to speak to the manager. She said she was one. I asked to speak to someone else. Being told that they were all at lunch, I sit here an hour later still waiting for the call. I just want everyone with pets to know that it is possible for their pets to get poisoned.

"Thank you for the nice words and I appreciate the concerns you have. I do regret not personally coming out to your house to further investigate. To the best of our knowledge from the symptoms described, it did not look like poisoning. We are aware of the signs and doses required. While it is hard to prove whether or not an animal illness is related to poison bait, we do appreciate your concern and our obligation. The doses we use are doses to kill a rat. That is not to say that they couldn't harm a dog in large quantity. Our stations are tamper resistant, but not tamper proof, as there is cleanly a way for rodents to get in and out, which then creates the potential for larger animals to get at bait removed by a rodent. The process is not perfect and both customer and company understand that some risk exists that is a measured risk. Thank you again for expression your concerns and I do apologize for not personally coming out to investigate."

I only used them a couple of times. They came for a follow-up and then I told them they could stop because they had gotten rid of the problem. Their price was okay, except they wanted six months to a year of follow-up service and I didn't want that.

They preform an excellent service - at least as it relates to bees. (I called a different company the year before for a different hive and they were completely incompetent - dropped the bee hive on the ground with the the queen who they lost, infuriated the bees, got stung over 100 times, etc. when I find their name I'll write to you again). Anyway, the Hearts people were completely professional, clearly knew what they wee doing AND there have been no bees that have returned in almost 2 years. Their services aren't cheap but they are worth it for something as dangerous and damaging as bees. I would give them the highest possible rating.

I had a major ant infestation in my home as well as other bugs inside and outside of my home. After calling a few different pest companies, Hearts was the only company that understood just how serious my problem was and sent someone out to my home right away. A gentleman arrived about an hour later, after a complete inspection of my home, he explained where my problem was coming from an exactly what he could do to adress all of my pest control needs. Since I started a regular pest control program with Hearts, I have had no pest problems at all.

Horrible. On top of the ridiculous charge, they tried to force me to pay by check instead of credit. Then after I paid by credit card, they still called the house to ask when I was paying by check!

"Hearts Pest Management has been an Angie's List contractor for 3 years with a 3 year award. Wonderful. On rare occasions, we have an unsatisfied customer. We work very hard with Angie's List customers by lowering prices and increasing service. Here I have received a very negative report that dates to the 1st yr I purchased this business in 2002. The claims are ridiculous, such as that I should lower prices to someone who is unemployed. FYI, this customer did not pay her bill for 6 months."

We thought we had bedbugs, but Curtis identified the problem as bird mites. He came to the house several times to consult, and I finally had him do the job, as I had visitors coming and didn't want them to be infested (not to mention me!). NB: I contacted 2 other pest control companies recommended on Angies list; one didn't know what bird mites were, and another couldn't find any (once I knew how to look, I could find them) Preparation for fumigation took a long time, as all clothing had to be run through the dryer. Knock on wood, no problems since the treatment.

Called Hearts and told them about rats i had in garage and possibly in house too. Have gotten rid of them two other times with other people, but they are back again. (- but my understanding is that there are no guarantees that they won't, and they did no come back for over a year that time.) Hearts sent me wonderful Tony within a few days, and he knew right away what was going on around here with my rat "population". I already knew they were in garage because they were eating everything (food stored there and non-food too) There was "evidence" everywhere in the garage and we come sometimes hear them in our walls at random times. Was not sure if they were anywhere else in house, as we had found them at other times in attic areas too. Tony did a thorough inspection and told me where the rats WERE and where they WEREN'T. Apparently they were living in the walls of the garage and feasting on plenty which made them happy to be there. He also found evidence of activity in one of our attics but not the other. Showed him where I thought they had even gotten into a kitchen pantry and he sealed up a hole he found that I had not even seen - right there on the spot. We were given the option of having him place 4 traps in our garage, and 2 outside near an entry point where they had accessed the house another time. This would cost $399 and include 3 follow up visits to check the traps and remove the rats. I thought this was a high price for this service as I have paid that much before to have the rats removed from the whole house and the the house sealed off. He also suggested removing all the insulation in our attic ($1k) and replacing it OR having them thoroughly clean it instead ($500). Additionally Tony offered us a monthly service which was optional that would include setting up rat bait in these boxes that are pet safe, around the yard -outside only- for $39/ month. We decided to just do the garage part for now and then decide about the other two options. Tony ended up finding 2 rats, not a lot of activity for what looked like a lot of rats that had been there to us. He said that must be all that were there. But he has guaranteed his work for 60 days, so now that the traps are gone, just hoping to see no more evidence of rats in our garage. He sealed off the two openings that led to their "home" in the wall of our garage today now that he thinks that he got all the rats. Tony is very friendly and helpful, always called before coming and even cleaned up all the rat mess in the area where they were residing in our garage. It was a pleasure to work with Tony, and I even learned a lot about these roof rats from him. So happy that Hearts helped to get rid of these rats. Hope they won't be back. Need to decide what to do about the attic now and if we will do the bait outdoors. Nice to know that Hearts is not pressuring me to decide and that they gave me several options to choose. Think their prices are high, but HIGHLY RECOMMEND them for good service.

The service went very well. They laid traps and came back a few times to check their traps; even though they didn't catch the rat, they were able to plug up a hole which may have been a point of entry. I felt comfortable giving them access to our home. Mark was very knowledgeable.
