They gave me the estimate back in August but they did not start their work till over a month and they never did finish it. The cost of it was supposed to have been $2400 and they collected half upfront. They said that they would collect the other half after they finished the job. Then I was satisfied but till date they have not completed it. What I have understood is that since then they have gone out of business. They are excellent workers but I guess the secretary and the owner were not competent. Like I said they started in August and they never did get it finished. I would give phone calls and they tell me that they are going to be out here and they would not show up. They ordered my fence and they sent three different fences and every time they would come in they would say it was scratched and so they had to re-order it and that took a while. Then they said they would come out and they would not show up and I would call and at that moment the secretary would say that they have one job ahead to do and that they would come in right after that and they never showed up. The next day the workers called up and said that they did not have the truck to come out as she said, and that they had another job. It was constantly one lie after the other. Then owner said he was getting involved and assured me that nothing like this would ever happen and that he would get it straightened. He even told me that he would offer some kind of a discount or something. So the next day he was personally supposed to come out, he did not come but send his workers. When I asked he said he did not see any need for him to come out. Then the next time when he was supposed to come out, the secretary called and told me that he was going to be out again and wondered how they could settle my account by credit card over the phone which I disagreed to. I told the secretary that I don’t owe anything till the fence was finished and I am satisfied with the job plus I did not know how much it is since the owner had promised me some discount. Any way this went on and on till the last day when they had one last post to put in. They had come out twice with the wrong post and the third time when they had come out they dug the old one out since that was the wrong post too but promised to be out with the right one the next day. That was toward the end of November. Then the workers told that the owner was selling the business and I never heard back from them thereafter.

I needed a fence company who was up to the challenge of dealing with a difficult neighbor, a strict ARC/Homeowners association while maintaining a competitive price. Wyatt Green, of Heritage Fencing took on that challenge. Heritage Fencing provided me with a beautiful and affordable fence. The installers were professional and on-time. The office secretary, Sam was pleasant and extremely helpful. If you need a fence, this is the company to call. Thank you Wyatt and the entire Heritage Fencing Crew
Contractor visited site and prepared a cost estimate. I visited their yard and selected paver color & block type and sitting wall color and block type. Contractor prepped site, laid crushcrete, laid pavers and sanded it in. Block sitting wall was constructed with 6" high block 3 rows high with a 2.5" cap block for seating. Standard base is 4". I requested 6" of crushcrete.
There were some details I wanted clarification on before they mobilized on my project. The quote/planner didn't discuss paver pattern, sitting wall height and other details which I wanted to get specific on. I had several calls go unanswered until I told them to cancel the project. For full disclosure, they mut be pretty popular because their calendar was slammed. Saw it myself. Still I expect and demand returned phone calls. Also 50% deposit required.
The Contractor was put off schedule by rain pushing my project to be rescheduled 3 times. Not great but what can you say.
Pavement was 80% good at completion. About 20% had to be redone because it dipped 1.5". They were responsive and came back withing 2 days to redo it. Now it was only a 1" dip. They came back again next day and fixed it right. I wouldn't pay them the other half until it was done right. That usually helps with responsiveness.
It has rained alot in north Florida since the pavers were laid and the pavement is still level. Overall I would say they did OK. I would use them again but if you do, be thorough up front about every detail you expect of the finished product when they do the estimate. I think they do goo work, you just need to be specific about what you expect.
They came out to our home to measure and give an estimate. The materials were a little late arriving from the manufacturer, but other than that the delivery and installation went well. Looks great and we are very pleased.

Overall the fence is OK. I suppose I got what I paid for---cheap. They used quality materials and the fence seems pretty solid, but the installers were sloppy and lacked attention to details that could have made this a great fence. I had two gates installed. Neither one was even with the fence panels at the top and I had to ask them to realign it. One was corrected at the time of installation because I had a friend come inspect their work before they left. The installer claimed that the fence and the gate had to be uneven because of the slope of the driveway. My friend told them how to fix it by removing the fence panel and trimming the bottom. The installer removed the panel by banging the 2X4's until they separated from the posts. This resulted in a split 2X4 and a wobbly fence post. When he cut the bottom of the panel, he didn't measure first so each individual picket is a little uneven. I had to ask them to come back out to lower the panel next to the second gate. I asked him to use a pry bar to separate the 2X4 so that it didn't split. After he left I noticed he didn't replace the picket on the front of the panel and he had also used only one nail in each 2X4 to secure the fence to the post. In addition the post was spaced too far over so that the 2X4 only overlapped the post by about an inch. There are other details that were overlooked. Neither end of the fence matches the height of my neighbors fence that it adjoins. There is no difference in the ground slope that would require this and even if there was, they could have trimmed the pickets. The fence panels are preassembled when they arrive to do the installation, rather than being stick built onsite. I think this deters the installation crew from removing pickets or otherwise altering the panels to fit the site because the ringshank nails that they use are difficult to remove. They had to work around some roots that where protrouding above the soil line. Rather than remove the boards and trim them, they trimmed them in place and the cuts are very sloppy and crooked. There were more examples of sloppy work including large gaps between the gate and the posts, leaving the old post holes unfilled and not completely filling the new ones.
I also had several issues with communication and punctuality. The first was when the owner was supposed to come out for the initial estimate. He never showed and the next day I received a call indicating that he had car trouble and didn't have my number. The next person that was to come out for an estimate called and asked if he could come two hours earlier than the appointment. I said sure, I wasn't at home, but would come home early to meet him. He ended up being an hour late for the original appointment. When he did call he said he got caught up at the office. I received a call on the day of installation that the crew was coming out. Four hours later, no one was there. I called the office and was told they had to stop at Home Depot first. The day the installers were to come out to fix their mistakes, I called the office because because they were over 2 hours late. I was told they weren't coming afterall. They were an hour late the next day.
A few days before the installation, I saw on the the news about the negative review that a non-member left on Angie's List about Heritage Fencing. I discounted it as an anomily. I am having a new paver patio installed, but I didn't bother calling Heritage for the job.
Response from Heritage Fencing
"Member, As the owner of Heritage Fencing I assure you we have and always will, so long as I am owner, remain 100% dedicated to fixing our customer issues. Our policy is no customer pays until they are 100% satisfied however, we see that you paid however, I also see you had a warranty call which I also see here we responded within 48 hours to replace a few pickets and raise a panel which had settled because of the large amount of rain that saturated the ground. All I can do is go by the information I have at hand which is; we installed your fence, you paid us, we honored our warranty, and we have no outstanding warranty calls with you. You may reach me directly at 904.269.2688 if you would like to speak to me directly. Thank you."

Beginning with the estimate and throughout the project, Heritage personnel arrived as scheduled. The estimate was competitive, and we only had to wait for about 2 weeks for installation (other firms had longer lead times or worse, did not bother to respond to my request for quotation). The crew arrived on the date scheduled. The installation took longer and cost more than planned since they hit concrete about a foot under the surface that extended for some 20 feet. They returned with a jack hammer and completed the fence the next day. The crew was courteous and professional. The fence turned out great!

Durwood Thompson provided an estimate and performed the work very satisfactorily. His main concern was customer satisfaction and after a disagreable installer began the job, Durwood had it completed to our satisfaction. Durwood was very pleasant, professional and customer oriented. I would highly recommend him and his company.
