Excellently! Mike arrived as promised, covered the stairs and hallways with throws to make sure no dirt in the house, and exceeded my expectations with his professionalism, courtesies and efficiency. We used Mike from H&F Heating/AC Alexandria, through Angies List, for about five years to do our yearly checkups on our furnace and AC. Each year all was "okay." I recently found water coming from inside my furnace. Mike came out and said I needed a new condensate pump, that's located on the side of the furnace. He replaced the pump, said it was fixed, and charged $475. He then checked my AC, and he said he needed to order a circuit board which he said, "is expensive," and the repair would be $875. I learned the board was a "little over $200," per Mike, so he was charging the rest as labor! In the mean time, I again found MORE water on the floor from the furnace. I called a local company instead of Mike! It was not the side pump at all but a part INSIDE the furnace that goes to the side pump. The AC did NOT need a circuit board! So Mike's diagnosis was completely WRONG on the furnace and AC. Fortunately, I found I still had three months left on my warranty so I called the original installation company and they came out to check and their findings were exactly the same as the local company I called and they made proper repairs. Mike checked that condenser coil was "clean" at his visit. The other company said it was filthy and cleaned it while here. I asked Mike for a refund for his wrong diagnosis and pump installation and he offered $300, which I okayed to be somewhat nice. After a couple weeks and no refund, I called Mike to ask if he changed his mind! He said he would "tell Betty" a second time to send it. Another couple weeks have passed and still no refund. Guess Mike's word is as good as his work, he DID NOT send a refund! I blew $475 on a no repair! Unfortunately I now agree with some other reviews, that "Mike doesn't know what he's doing.* Don't count on your furnace and AC being "okay" for 5 years with his "service" visits! And beware of inflated repair/labor prices!

Have used Mike Bass 3 times in the past 10 years. LOVE this man and his work ethic. He does know his heating and cooling. Works very hard at finding solutions if you need a replacement HVAC (happened once) and with considerable savings. Punctual and reliable. Will be using him again (for the 4th time). Can NOT go wrong when using H & F Service. Have used a couple of other well known companies in the past, and H & F can not be beat for service, cost and reliability.

Simple scheduling, great communication, and great service. Our technician, Mike, was early. He first called to ensure that it was ok for him to come earlier than scheduled. He checked our units and gave us a rundown of the systems status. He answered all of our questions clearly and concisely. He also made sure we were good before leaving. We will be sure to have H&F for our next service.

The serviceman found the problem almost immediately and quickly repaired it.

Mike is the one who comes out and he is terrific. He is thorough and he never tries to up sell anything. He is prompt, clean, and is easy to get an appointment with. He is also personable and we would highly recommend him.

Fantastic job. Technician arrived on time. Very respectful of the home. Inspected the whole system thoroughly. Provided guidance on a new filter needed. Found more refrigerant was needed. Verified the system operation with our history of operating it (the condenser would ice over every now and then).

I am a returning customer to H&F Service. Betty and Mike are kind, courteous, professional, knowledgeable and rather accommodating. As busy as they are, I have never had to wait more than one day before Mike comes out to the house. This time it was during the Christmas holidays. We called for the fall/winter service and after checking out outdoor heat pump, Mike showed us that we need new fan blades because they were not spinning evenly due to being chipped and broken. The heat pump sits underneath a window awning and apparently over the years, winter ice dropping from the awnings damaged the blades. We also discovered that the fan motor needed to be replaced. He went to get the parts and quickly returned to do the repairs. He completed the system check-up and repairs in a couple of hours counting time to go and come back with the parts. Mike is always courteous and takes to explain the problem and what to do to prevent issues. Because we have been pleased with H&F since we first discovered them on Angie's List many years ago, we also use them for servicing our other home and will continue to do so. Repair man could not figure out what was causing the problem with my furnace, he charged me $450 in labor (including a minor part) for two partial days of trouble-shooting (he spent a significant part of this time scratching his head) and recommended that I contact the company that installed the furnace. I really can't believe I paid him the full amount. This company was NOT up front about their labor charge or the estimate. I recommend when you request any service you ask for the labor rate and the estimated cost. Don't be a sucker like me.

I called around 7pm and Mike was here by 8:15 - he diagnosed the problem quickly and was back in the morning (8am) and had it fixed within an hour. From the phone call (desperate - it was freezing in our house) to the service by Mike, it was such a pleasure doing business with this company. We have an annual contract with them the past two years - first time we had an issue and we were more than pleased with the responsiveness.
