Higgins is a great company that has outstanding craftsmen in their employ. I've hired them for two major remodeling jobs. I will do it again if the need arises. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and skillful. Call them. You won't be disappointed!

Window installation was great, however we did run into a problem with the wrong window being bought on a two window project. Mike was nice enough to solve the problem quick, order a new window. Price was fair and I liked how we had the option to pick out different window types unlike most box stores.

It went very well they were professional, on time and courteous.

Working with Higgins Construction was a great experience for our family. If questions or concerns arose throughout the project we were able to discuss those things and come to a remedy to correct the question or concern. The crew of people that they have working for them and the subcontractors they brought in were all professional and courteous. They are very fair on their pricing and when they discovered some things that would help with insulation on our home or structural issues in our soffits - they immediately had a clear explanation for their suggestion and price for that to be fixed. Our project consisted of the following: Roof, chimney rebuilt from roofline up, new garage door, siding, shutters, cupola, soffits/facia/gutters, cedar posts on porch, lighting in soffits above the garage door.

Mike and his crew spent approximately 5 months working on multiple areas in and around our home. We added a third stall garage and mudroom/laundry room to the first floor, we added a basement bathroom, remodeled a 4 season porch to use year around as an additional main floor living space, bumped out a small second floor bedroom to add an additional bathroom and larger bedroom to make a master bedroom and en suite bathroom and finally a new 6 foot cedar fence to keep the dogs in our yard. Mike was quick and responsive to our initial meetings, questions, ideas and budget. He was able to creatively rethink the layouts of several of our rooms to keep our budget in check and still give us everything we were wanting. As the owner and general contractor, Mike kept all of his crew moving, supplies delivered and his several sub contractors on time. Mike and his crew are full service...they can frame up, handle tree work, install doors & windows, install siding, install cedar fencing, lay tile, sheetrock, paint, complete finishing work, etc. Mike was able to get our foundation work completed in October so his crew could work all winter long rather than waiting 9 months to start due to our freezing winter temps. We had a standing weekly appointment, at our home, to go over the progress, answer our questions and talk about next steps. Keeping the lines of communication open was huge considering we had no idea how much knowledge and work was necessary for the size of job they were working on. Mike's crew dealt with our 2 dogs during the day and 5 people attempting to live in the construction areas while they worked! We were very pleased with Mike and his crew. We will immediately turn to Higgins Construction when we have any additional renovation/construction needs.

Higgins Construction removed a wall from my kitchen and added a peninsula. When I was getting quotes from companies, Mike went into the most detail and made it clear that he would consider all aspects of the project. He priced out a few options so I could see what each addition would cost in making my decision. Once the project started, the employees I encountered were professional and clearly took pride in doing their work well. Mike communicated frequently to update me on the next steps. The end result surpassed my expectations!

We hired Higgins Construction to put in an egress window and replace an additional window in our basement. Mike was great to work with, as was his crew. The work they performed was clean and timely and we are extremely satisfied with how both windows turned out. We will definitely be returning to Higgins Construction for future projects!

The project went smoothly and Mike met all of our requests. He was easy to work with and responsive to our questions throughout the entire process. The bathroom is jack and jill style between an existing family room and the new bedroom with quality features.

They did a good job!

I went with Higgins based on reputation and examples of their work in town. They did an excellent job remodeling the exterior of our modest 1950s rambler and detached garage. Our home had the original painted cedar shakes still in place and windows that were a mix of old and newer home depot specials. The gutters were leaking and the garage was looking a bit tired! Mike Higgins was my main contact. I had him come out to estimate a price for siding and windows only, but it soon became clear we were looking at a total exterior remodel. It took time to get buy in from the wife on such a time consuming and expensive project, but no one can argue with the result: neighbors referring to our property as "beautiful" and saying "it looks like [you] built a new house and new garage." Mike came out to measure the windows in January. It took time for me to decide on the siding look and color (wanted something that would not fade) and to get into the schedule. They started work in mid-April. Brought in dumpster. Tore off old siding and doors. Wrapped the house and garage. Lifted the garage and replaced the original rafters. Replaced windows and basement windows. Put on the trim, fascia, soffits and gutters. Install new lights and door buzzer. All first class, quality MN products installed by seasoned professionals. The actual siding and windows lasted about 3-4 weeks and then some follow on work after that. Communication was email, phone, text message and personal meeting, always responsive and courteous. The crew was professional and courteous to me and my family. Issues always come up in any job, but the ones that came up during this job were resolved quickly and equitably. Mike is pretty laid back about changes in scope and honest in his pricing. I would advise that if you have very specific ideas in mind for your home, clearly write them down or show Mike what you want. This may seem obvious to most, but I had no experience with a project like this and I was not prepared for all the minor decisions that go into a major project like this.

We could not have been happier with Mike and his entire team! Before the remodel, we read a lot about how remodels are almost always over budget and/or don't finish on time. This project was on time, on budget, and we are thrilled with the results. Mike is very responsive when we had questions, kept us up to date on progress, and was ready with options if a problem would arise. Mike's team found some structural issues in the breezeway remodel that were not apparent before demolition and when he contacted me with the bad news, he already had several options, estimated costs, and had consulted with the city inspector to ensure the options would work. He was on top of things throughout the remodel. Mike is very professional himself, and he has a great group of people working with him. They did a good job keeping the space clean at the end of the day, respecting our living space, and paying attention to quality workmanship. His pricing was comparable to the other contractors that provided bids, but he really put in the up-front work to ensure the project would go smoothly, and it did. Once it was all said and done, I couldn't have been happier with the result and the overall process. I would definitely hire Mike again, and I have already recommended him to several friends for their projects.

The service and support were great.  Mike and his crew was looking out for my best interest throughout this remodel.  The finished product looks absolutely beautiful.  You almost wouldn't believe this is the same house before and after is so different.  This remodel was finished on time (less than a month) and on budget.  I was very happy and kind of shocked that they could do so much work so quickly.  Mike is fair, responsive, polite, and easy to deal with.  If you want something done, you only need to ask him once and you know it will get done right, and get done fast.  I've done work with plenty of other contractors and Higgins Construction has been by far the easiest to work with.

Higgins did an excellent. We added some of the items along the way and there were no surprises later. Other than our changes, everything was on budget. Allowances were fully explained for tile, carpet, lighting, etc. We will use Mike and his crew for our next project.

We were impressed by the quality of the work and Mike's responsiveness. The job was probably bigger than we (and they) initially realized and it took about twice as long as we were expecting it to (about 4 weeks total). Ultimately, Mike understood when we said we would get the painting done ourselves so we could move kids back into their bedrooms more quickly. 

We had plans drawn up prior to contacting Higgins Construction. We put a lot of thought into the plans to get the layout right so it was a matter of building out the designs. We dealt mostly with Mike and he was professional and responsive to our questions and concerns. He delivered on his promises and they completed the work weeks ahead of the estimated completion date. <br /> We have uncommon wall thickness and there was an issue with two door jambs being too thin, I was particularly concerned about one of the doors because it was located in the dining room. Mike replaced it when I told him I was concerned about the aesthetics of it, particularly because the dining room would be used for entertaining. <br /> I wish a little more attention was given to picking up small pieces of steel resulting from wrapping the soffits and fascia, but some of that is unavoidable during construction and they were doing quality work so I didn?t mention it. On one or two occasions the house was unlocked when I got home and once the lock box was left open.  I wish they would have done a walk-around to confirm the house was secure prior to leaving for the day. <br /> Overall I think the project went very well and some of my concerns are just a fact-of-life with remodeling. We are very happy with the results and I will definitely consider Higgins Construction for future construction jobs. <br /> <br />

When my husband and I were ready to move forward with the remodel, we researched several contractor options. We were looking for someone who performed quality work, who was trustworthy and who we could forge a long-term relationship with, as we continue to tackle our project "wish list" over the coming years. I found Higgins Construction on Angie's List and was impressed by not only the company's work portfolio, but also the owner's (Mike) values. He came out to meet with us shortly after we initiated contact, and I knew it was a good fit immediately. The remodel took place over the course of approximately two months (side note: at the time, Mike was booking work about three to four months out). Mike's team gutted the bathroom (we kept the toilet since it was in good shape and then the bathtub got refinished versus replaced). Mike's team installed new floors, dry wall, shower tile, canned lights and some new piping that was needed. We also worked with Mike's cabinet guy to custom design a new vanity that worked better for the space. Throughout the process, Mike kept us updated on what was going to happen when, who would be in and out of the house, and where we were at with the budget (and we really needed to stick to ours). His team had access to the house via a lock box, and were respectful of both our home and three pets (we crated/confined them if Mike's team was here when we weren't). The only reason I gave Higgins Construction a "B" for punctuality is because on some occasions, we'd be given a window of days when someone would show up versus a particular day. It took me a little longer to adjust to this as I'm more of a planner than my husband, but by a few weeks in, I wasn't giving it another thought and just operated on the assumption that someone would be here. The end result was beautiful and for all of the reasons cited, we absolutely will be using Mike and his team for future work (next up is likely a garage overhaul, in the spring)! <br />

This is the second time I have worked with Mike's company. He is always very responsive, calling me back within a day of inquiry. He has come to check out the project, gave me a detailed estimate of the project. My wooden front steps had areas of rot as did the adjoining deck.  Both needed replacing. His workers were prompt, polite and so easy to work with. Quality of the work is excellent, including iron railings constructed by one of the workers. Cleanup was great. I am very pleased with the project which was completed in 2 days. I would definitely work with Mike again and would recommend him to others who need a contractor! <br />

Fantastic. Mike and his team are friendly, responsive, and punctual. He came to meet with us three times to go over various possibilities and priced everything out clearly. Mike kept us up to date on timelines throughout the project. The quality of the work was excellent. They handled everything and were completely professional. An absolute pleasure to work with. The next time I need a project done, I'll certainly use Higgins Construction again. <br />

Mike was a wonderful contractor to work with! He was very professional and personable. One of the previous reviews stated that Mike was an "honest, Christian, family man". It was one of the main reasons that I chose to contact Mike in the first place and I found it to be a very accurate description of him. He was always very prompt for our meetings and thorough in his explanations of what work needed to be done and when it would take place. He made many visits to the work site during the construction process and welcomed my feedback and requests during each step of the project. All of his subs were knowledgeable and proficient in their work and easy to have around. They completed the project in a timely manner and always left the work site clean and safe. I am very pleased with the way that my new siding looks. I would not hesitate to hire Mike/Higgins Construction to do future projects that I might have. <br />
