I just cannot say enough in praise of Highland Landscaping. I have done many projects in my lifetime, and I was a contractor before retirement, so I know how things typically go. I don't think I've ever seen a job go as well. The owner, Lee, along with his crew member Manuel, impress me in so many ways. When Lee first bid the job, he had lots of great ideas not just about the overall design and work, but also ways to save me money. He did not take a deposit up front, and only a small one when the job started. From there he billed based on the completed portion of the job and never came back for more money when complications came out of the blue for him. About the schedule, Lee said they would be there every day until the job was done, and he was right. They arrived on time daily and never left a mess. It is said that any construction process is painful for the owner, but that if a job is well done the pain quickly fades. With Highland landscaping, there is no pain in the first place. I've added so many parts to the original job, and will keep doing so. Angi, thanks for introducing me to Highland Landscaping.

Lee and Manuel did a wonderful job installing a floating Azek deck in our atrium. What used to be an unusable dirt patch inside our house is now a lovely outdoor room. They we able to start soon after I contacted him and everything was on time and on budget. Couldn’t be happier.

Lee shared his inputs for the plans we had, suggested different options for decking materials, lighting and paint. His team is not big, so the project took several weeks, but overall we are happy with the results!

We hired Lee for a flagstone patio installation and we plan to hire him again in the near future! He was very attentive, making several trips to the site and communicating regularly as the project progressed. Lee was very professional and respectful, conscientiously navigating through the boundaries and restrictions of the project. I would definitely recommend his service!

We are very pleased with the work Lee Tavare and his assistant, Manuel, did in replacing our old redwood deck with a new one. They did a great job and were willing and able to repurpose some of the old deck’s railings’ wood into the new deck’s railings. They also fixed up our arbor, which was on the perimeter of the deck. After the rainy season, they returned to stain and seal the deck. Easy to work with and conscientious, they finished our job on schedule and on budget. We highly recommend them.

Lee and Manuel did an excellent job. It was a tricky job because it could not be too steep for my wheelchair to get up it, but also needed a flat spot on one side for me to get out of my car. Lee listened to my needs, and he and Manuel skillfully dialed in the grade and laid the pavers. He also suggested adding some lighting and improved sprinklers nearby, both of which worked out well. These two guys are very good. Their price is reasonable for the caliber of work that they do. I've used them before and was very happy. Don't rush them; let them do their work. They are good.

Lee always showed up on time, provided very reasonable pricing & did an excellent job in installing a new retaining wall, including lighting & replacing sprinkler valves. He & his assistant always cleaned up at the end of the day. I recommend Highland Landscape very highly.

Lee and Manuel did a great job. Lee was great at understanding our ideas and requirements and fed back some well-received changes. Their experience and expertise were evident throughout. And Lee's knowledge of Koi and Koi ponds was especially helpful to us neophytes. The work proceeded steadily throughout the entire process. And we are extremely happy with the results. In the end, we have a brand-new oasis in the back yard that forms the center of our outdoor life. Plus, Koi!

We had used this company before to install pavers for us. We were happy with that work and decided to use them again for this job. Lee was responsive, made good suggestions, took careful measurements, took us to see examples of his work, and sent us plans for the job and a contract. The work was done professionally and well. Lee was on site as needed for supervision and discussion. Compared to the prior installation, this one seems more sturdy and there are many touches that indicated attention to detail.

It was a big job and Lee was terrific. The pricing was very competitive. They were very thorough and informative. On time everyday. It was overall excellent and I couldn't ask for a better experience.

Awesome. We were so happy we selected Highland Landscape and Lee. Lee provided a competitive estimate and was straight forward with the work that was to be done. The work that was contracted was completed with a high level of craftsmanship and on the schedule that was agreed to. Lee even came back to cut an access point for our sewer clean out that had been over looked during the work.

Since redoing my backyard was a fairly large project I had many contractors come out and offer ideas and estimates for the patio and deck. I decided on Highland Landscape because the owner, Lee Tavare, listened to the general ideas of what I was looking for and worked with me to come up with a design that was attractive and within my budget. Lee was here every day working and overseeing the job. Manual, his assistant was also knowledgeable, hardworking and a nice friendly guy. I was so pleased with the deck and patio I had them put in a paver deck around the pool and add a sprinkler system. Lee was patient and helpful- listening to various concerns and providing solutions and practical advice. The price seemed very reasonable for all that was done, there were no surprises and all the final bills came in a few dollars lower than his estimates. Lee is very knowledgeable in all types of construction which was nice for getting advice on various options and coming up with a workable plan for a beautiful backyard.

Lee was very pleasant to work with, and answered our questions/concerns. Originally, we were going to install a tropical wood deck, but Lee recommended that we go with redwood based on his inspection of the permit. His workers were pleasant, friendly and efficient. I provided feedback about changes to the design of the deck, which his workers implemented to my satisfaction, although it did cost some additional money for materials (they did not charge me for time). Also . there were some additional items (replacing a plank with several holes, trimming the steps, sanding the top rail) and inquiries that needed to be addressed which they also completed to my satisfaction.

Our project involved both deck construction and hardscaping, and we wanted a contractor who could do both jobs.  Based on recommendations we found on Angies’s List, we picked Highland Landscape.  We weren’t disappointed.  Lee Tavare and his crew (3 total) were in and out in just under 2 weeks, and the result is fantastic.  We wouldn’t change a thing.  Lee was very responsive to what we wanted, and all his suggestions along the way resulted in either improvements or cost savings.  The construction is first-rate, the deck is really solid.  After finally dumping an architect who wanted to design a Taj Mahal at exhorbitant cost, we couldn’t believe how easy it was to get just what we wanted.  The bid was less than we expected, and some unrelated jobs (rebuilding a fence, etc.) were done on a time and materials basis at very reasonable cost.  One thing we especially appreciated was the absence of unnecessary noise and disruption (no radios playing).  Everyone seemed focused on getting the job done.  It was a pleasure to work with them. <br>

Highland Landscape did a great job from beginning to end.  After submitting a reasonable bid for the job,  Lee carved out time so that we were able to begin on a timely basis.  He has a small but hard working crew and was personally on-site for almost all the work;  this was a real plus in our eyes.  Suggestions he made were well founded and provided improvement to the initial plan.  He also worked well with any other contractors who were needed to be included in the process. Although the entire project took longer than originally anticipated, this was mostly due to items we added into the original plan (extra demolition) or unknown issues that required extra work (old electrical).  The final result was exactly what we wanted and more.

Lee has a lot of experience to draw upon for his project recommendations.  Our project was relatively small (30 to 50 square feet) with a short fuse and he still treated us an important customer throughout the process.  To complicate matters, we were out-of-town for the project duration and Lee made some excellent material selections for us.  Lee promised to get a certain job done for a certain price and delivered the results.  Lee regularly communicated progress and results, which was much appreciated.  Lee is a professional and knows how to get the job done so we will recommend him to others! <br />

I met with several landscaping companies prior to moving forward.  I chose highland not because they were the cheapest or the largest but because I felt comfortable with the plan/design and I felt like Lee (owner) was being as honest and transparent as possible.  Once we agreed to move forward, Lee was on-site every single day getting his hands dirty and overseeing the project. Overall, this whole thing took over a month but it was well worth it.  Lee took care of all the permitting for the deck, shopping for the materials and managing the project.  He and Manuel (primary laborer) were on-time every single day -- no kidding.  Once the deck and walkway was complete, we met Lee at Devil Mountain nursery to pick out plants and shrubs -- it was really a great experience.  I was really impressed with all the great suggestions we received over the life of the project.  Things like using a solar timed sprinkler system which adapts to the changing sunrise and sunset timing over the course of a year.  Budget-wise, Lee was extremely tight to the budget.  In fact -- I think he as 100% on time and on-budget.  There was a few additional items I asked him to do and he just charged time and materials.  Honestly, I don't think he charged me for all his time because I was expecting the bill to be much larger.  Overall, I can't give a higher recommendation to Highland Landscaping.  If you are looking for quality work with a trustworthy, personable and skilled landscaper then call Highland.

Highland Landscape was awesome!  We have completed two major projects with Lee.  The first being a major deck remodel and the second a paver / artificial turf patio, with an engineered stone retaining wall and a fenced utility yard. Lee was very easy to work with and provided great design ideas and cost saving suggestions.   <br /> Lee helped us through the design, and kept us thoroughly informed all the way through each of the projects with regular and detailed budget updates.  Even with scope additions on our part, Lee was able to keep the projects on budget without ever compromising quality.  Lee was always onsite during the work, so there was never the worry of something having to be torn out or redone.  They were clean, and respectful of our privacy.  Lee and and his Foreman Manuel  are true craftsmen.   <br /> We would highly recommend Lee and Highland Landscape for any landscape, hardscape or decking project small or big!  While we were glad to start enjoying our new yard, we were sad to see Lee and Manuel go.  Our projects with Lee came out better than expected, and our family will enjoy our new yard for years to come.  We are already trying to figure out our next project with Highland Landscape. <br /> Thanks Lee & Manuel!
