The thoro coat was successfully applied to the rear wall, and the old concrete removed from the facade, the wood replaced and insulation replaced, and stucco applied to the facade. The contract was signed in May, 2014 and this work was completed by November, 5th, 2014. At that point, I made the third payment on the contract and, in effect, no work has been completed since then. My house is suffering water damage as a result of the windows and door surround being exposed and due to the faulty windows not being replaced or stucco work completed on the steps (as per an engineer's report). I have repeatedly called and texted and emailed Mr. Hassan to no effect; he has repeatedly given me excuses since last November, including that the windows were being ordered (for a year now!), that he could not force his carpenters to work, that he was on vacation, that it was a religious holiday, that his mother was ill, etc, etc. etc. He also has spoken with me in unprofessional and inappropriate ways, and continually asked me for more money while not completing any additional work. I offered at one point to pay the remaining 25% balance in steps, as he completed remaining aspects of the contract, and this also has had no impact. Finally, I have faced significant delays as a result of issues w/ Landmark in my area since I filed a Landmark permit against my instructions (the work was initiated prior to the Landmark ruling-- by his filing the permit, this created unnecessary confusion and delays). While the work that he has done seems of a good standard, I am exhausted with the delays and lack of responsiveness and lack of work being completed. I am now facing a second winter with no lights on the outside of my building (he removed these a year ago to do the stucco work and has not replaced them after repeated requests), debris is left in my front yard, and he left scaffolding up the whole winter--not sufficiently secured, so boards flew into my yard and my neighbor's yard. It is also nearly impossible to reach him; he never picks up either phone, his voice mail boxes are usually full, when you do reach him, he says, "I need to call you right back," and does not; he says he is coming over to speak with me-- "I am on my way now" and never turns up. He is full of excuses. While he has performed some good work, I would not recommend him to anyone given how he has acted and not completed work.
We shopped and spoke with many "facade restoration experts" before choosing to work with High Tech and we are so glad we did our research. Shaiful was by far the most knowledgeable contractor we spoke with and made us feel confident that he was capable of solving our issues. When it was clear that there was no saving our original cornice, he offered up more than one suitable way forward. We decide to let his crew re-create the original piece from stone. The work they did left us with a beautiful and artistic facade the functions well in collecting rain water from the roof. The crew was respectful, clean and on time. They went above and beyond all of our expectations in touching up every minor detail so that the whole front of the house was left looking brand new. We could not be happier. Our home looks better than we could have imagined. I recommend High Tech Construction with no hesitation.
High Tech recently re-brownstoned the co-op that I live in on 83rd Street and did an amazing job. The price that we got from High Tech was about half of what we were quoted from the next lowest bidder, but the work ended up being so beautiful that people walking by our building are stopping to take photos. High Tech reconstructed all of the old brownstone details that had been worn off and totally lost over the years. These guys were artisans and asked me for very old photos of the building, which they used to re-create the designs of the building details. It took a bit longer than I expected but It turned out so great!!! I never expected that they could bring our building back to it's former glory, especially given the reasonable price. Come walk by and take a look.
A couple of years ago High Tech had done our stairs, which also came out beautiful. They got the detail right on that too. The brownstone stairs look so nice, they have rounded edges like the most expensive brownstones have. But again High Tech's price was the most reasonable of the bidders. The have also done some other smaller jobs for us such as re-pointing and again I was very satisfied with both the quality of the work and with the price.
Oh, I almost forgot. The electric company did some work on our block and chipped tiny bits off of the new stairs and High Tech came and repaired it at no cost. I was very impressed with that since it totally above and beyond.
We found High Tech Construction by asking Angie's List to send out some highly rated companies. When I called the number they had on file for High Tech, Jamal Uddin answered the phone and claimed to be a representative of that company. Once he came out, he mentioned that he had a separate company called K & J that operated as part of one big company, along with High Tech. He asked us to write out a deposit check to K & J, despite the fact that we were hiring him based on High Tech's reputation. He verified all along that he was representing High Tech.

When he first gave me a work date, Jamal claimed to be sick and stopped answering his phone. We made a phone call to Department of Transportation, and found out that he had not pulled the permits as he had claimed. We called Angie's List, and they got in contact with Jamal. He finally called us back and discussed the permit issue. He acted like it was an honest mistake, but the next day he said that he would send his father down to get the permit. Up until that point, Jamal told us his father was the head of High Tech. We didn?t find out until later that that might not have been true. He called us back to say he had pulled a permit, and gave us a permit number. We called the Department of Transportation to verify this. They told us that he had gotten the permit number incorrect, but that there was a permit pulled under a different number. This permit was not pulled for High Tech as Jamal had claimed, but for his other company K & J instead. We later found out that High Tech Construction was not registered with the city to pull permits at all.

Jamal claimed to need two full days of good weather to do the job so it was delayed due to rain. He arrived with bags of cement he planned to mix himself because he did not want to pay for the cement truck due to the cost. For several days they were late and the little work they completed doesn't look good. Additionally, they left concrete in the street that could cause drainage problems. They also sat on my neighbor's stoop to eat and stained it with their coffee and tracked concrete on their newly finished brownstone. They left huge pieces of junk wood on our property and never came to pick up the garbage - Jamal told us that "he would try" but we have not seen it picked up - ever since July 4th when we told him to stop work due to the problems we had seen.

This job could have been much easier, but we absolutely do not want this company back out because we don't know what other damage they might cause. Due to the damage to their property, our neighbors don't, either.

Update to High Tech Construction Co. response;

I contacted Mr. Hasan from High Tech Construction Co.and he met me at my property to see the shoddy work that was done. I explained that the telephone number on file for High Tech, given by Angie's List was the one I called and spoke to Jamal Uddin, who stated he was a High Tech representative. Mr. Hasan stated that Jamal was a former employee of his and had done this to other customers. Mr. Hasan offered to fix the sidewalk and correct the damage done to my neighbors property for free. When asked for the scope of work to be performed in writing, he refused and only gave me an address of other work he had completed. I found this to be very suspicious. I then hired another contractor to remove and replace the sidewalk. I paid for my neighbor to have his property fixed by a contractor of his choice. I feel High Tech is culpable because that phone number was listed in Angie's List for High Tech and was changed, This was discovered by Angie's List Integrity department, Jamal was, and for all I know is, an employee of High Tech. Last but not least, Mr. Hasan should have protected future customers, like myself, from this type of horrible situation. This response is to warn other Angie's List customers to insist to speak to the owner and not just a representative.
Response from High Tech Construction Co
"This person contacted me stating that my company had done work for them; when I went to the location I had no idea who this person was. They told me that my phone number was different on angies list and thats where they found me but that they hired a different company called K&J. This made no sense to me. If you hired K&j, signed a contract with K&j, why are you disputing against High-Tech. I called my account manager Tom Miller and he stated that my number has been the same on file since my account opened up. I don't know who these people are and why they are blaming my company for a service we did not perform. They need to go and findK& J; if anyone says they work with us how can they believe this and how are we at fault? I want this review removed as it does not reflect my company at all."

It went excellent! Hi Tech Construction Co gave me a detail estimate of the job. And compared to other estimates I received from several other companies, Hi Tech's was the most reasonably priced. Hi Tech also gave me a timeline of the job from beginning to finish and they were right on target. The crews showed up on time and carried out the job like experts - they surely looked like they knew what they were doing. I noticed that they were very concerned about the safety of our neighbors, anybody passing by, their crews, and us. They also cleaned everything right after they finished their job. I was really happy with the timeliness and the quality of their job. I will definitely strongly recommend Hi Tech. I do not think you can go wrong with them.
So far everything went well. We have to wait for a big big rain to see if the leaks were repaired.

Contacted to get a quote on my brick facade. Services performed included grinding, power-washing, and re-pointing my facade. Price was medium-ranged from other quotes. Responsiveness and punctuality was excellent.

My rear facade wall was falling apart, there was apparent deterioration, cracks falling apart. I was recommended to High Tech by our community board. Scaffold was used for this project. They chipped out the 4-story facade and applied wire-mash. First coat of cement was for curing and the second coat was the finishing coat. The finishing coat was very finely re-finished. The back-wall was waterproofed with thoro-coat. My roof was leaking as well at multiple places, bubbles had been formed with water seeping in, leaving into my kitchen. The weather was very rainy and stormy at that time and thanks to High Tech they repaired my roof by placing a new layer roof on top of the existing roof and stopped the leak. High Tech remains as one of the top recommended company in our community board.

Quality of work was impeccable, and despite my pressuring HTC to hurry up with their work, they worked based on favorable climate conditions so as to guarantee optimal longevity of the sandstone and prevent crumbling and cracking in the near future.
I would use their services again and highly recommend them.
