One of the movers requested that I pay him off the books. The price he quoted was actually more than what was quoted by the company. Also, it was a big move. Several of my items were missing.

Never before have I experienced such unprofessional and haphazard service. On the appointed day, the two movers (there were supposed to be three) turned the wrong way on our street.  Instead of going around the block in their huge truck, they decided to turn around on our narrow street - backing into a driveway with a sharp rise from the street.  Well, not only did they get stuck for most of the rest of the day (we waited and waited), but their truck was now so damaged that they could not move us on the day we planned. They agreed to come the next day (under protest that they had other bookings for that day.  Well, they arrived on time and began to move our belongings with such haste and carelessness that I couldn't watch as they manhandled our valued furniture, dragging pieces (including our mattress!) along the floor, sidewalk and street.  They used no blankets to protect our hard furniture from their dolly, so almost every piece has some scratch or mar. Loading into our new apartment, they were so rushed (they kept saying that we had do much stuff!) because they wanted to get to two more appointments that day.  They managed to break a custom made piece of glass, that shattered all over our garage (my wife swept it up!). They also somehow lost a piece of furniture - a gift for our wedding 25 years ago. So much incompetence was hard to take.  When they were done, they simply disappeared - I had been forced to pay the full moving fee BEFORE they would unload the truck!  Perhaps they knew that their irresponsible performance might cause me to resist paying. Now we are living in our new apartment.  But every day we are confronted with evidence of their carelessness and incompetence. The manager, Bobby, was polite. However, he defended his workers unacceptable performance, saying that they have made many successful moves before.  Past performance is wiped out in a flash with the way these guys worked.

Everything went seamlessly. The movers, Kevin & Mike, arrived earlier than scheduled today (a Saturday), and they started immediately once the door was opened for them. They worked nonstop until the move was complete. They were fabulous. I have hired this company perhaps 5 or 6 times in the last two years for different moves, and they have always been reliable, efficient, and excellent to work with-- so I keep calling them back.

In April of 2017 I called to say I was ready to have my things delivered. It took almost a week to get Bobby on the phone to schedule delivery. This frightened me. I immediately checked Angie's List and Yelp and learned their service and ratings went down hill. The day they brought my things, the foreman was bitter and hostile. He clearly did not want to be there. Bobby later explained that they hardly use him any more. Why use him at all? What I noticed immediately was how dirty everything was and that some of the pieces of furniture were not covered. One of the guys explained that they moved warehouses and in the last year and the wrapping must have fallen off in the process. This was done without my knowledge or consent. Bobby claimed they sent me a letter notifying me of this change but has yet to provide me with a copy of said correspondence. When I complained, Bobby accused me of being unreasonable because it was just DUST. I told him that wasn't the point and he said it was the point. They lost my custom dining room table pads and have not accepted responsibility after over 35 days. I also showed Bobby photos of the water line on the back of my refrigerator that his people cut and taped to the back of the refrigerator and he said that I must have instructed them to do it, which is not the case. He refuses to accept responsibility for that either. He is very defensive and righteous. They also gave me a painting that was not mine. I returned it to them so the rightful owner can have it back. Bobby has stopped communicating with me and my next step is to file a complaint with the PUC.

They showed up 4 hours late and left Tons of items. They said it was late and they were done?? They left items with out putting them back together The manager Bobby was unprofessional and rude on the phone. Made excuses and did nothing to help the situation. Two of the movers were stoned on weed! The other guy was listening to music while he was moving my stuff and while talking to me.

Stay away from these guys! Rip offs, scratched furniture, no tools, "forgot my credit card swiped you have to pay cash or we won't unload your stuff." Was supposed to be $395, ended up over $1100.00 Called them two weeks ago to resolve, still waiting for a call back. Only time I have been disappointed with someone from Angie's list.

They were the only mover's in the area that would do the move on short notice. Even moved me on Sunday. Bobby was great. Old office needed proof of insurance and Bobby handled everything quickly. He even let me use the discount coupon. All charges were well explained ahead of time and there were no additions to the great price. The movers were exceptional. Not a scratch and helped me leave the office and storage good enough to get our deposit back. They lifted some items that were several hundred pounds (and fragile electronics) with ease and a great attitude. I would call these guys anytime.

Going backwards based on the AWFUL EXPERIENCE! ****Move Back: Experience AWFUL**** A different team was assigned the return of our stuff based on what I assume the back experience we had with the pack out. This is where things get really bad. - DAMAGE TO ITEMS. It seems like there was no care taken with our items. THERE WAS DAMGE TO 15 ITEMS. There was actually damage to a 16th item but we did not discover it until after the claim window passed with our insurance carrier. THIS IS SO UNACCEPTABLE and when the furniture restorer came to give us a quote to fix or replace the damaged items he couldn't believe how many items had been damaged. I could go on but the pictures below will show some of the damage. - Wardrobe boxes were not included in the move though this was NEVER COMMUNICATED and if we didn't unpack the day of they would charge us an extra $25 per box. Some of these wardrobe boxes were not used for clothing and just had items unpacked and thrown in without thought. We had to scramble to unpack some of these boxes so we wouldn't be charged the $25 dollars. Luckily we had some extras which we could swap out. THIS IS EVEN AFTER WE DISCOVERED A LOT OF DAMAGE. PLEASE NOTE THEY WERE TRYING TO CHARGE $25 FOR USED WARDROBE BOXES THAT DIDNT CONTAIN CLOTHING! - Hollywood Moving and Storage response to this damage was this is why you get extra insurance. We had to pay $750 for extra moving insurance and then $250 for a deductible. That means that we are out of pocket $1000 before any of our items are fixed. They would not return my calls as we discovered more problems and the general lack of care with our stuff. I finally had to block my number and call the company at which point they answered the phone. Even then Bobby Williams the manager didn't seem to care. I understand that things get damaged but the extent of the damage is beyond me. **** Pack up and move to storage: Experience Bad**** The crew arrived 30 minutes late and seemed professional. All moving materials were included. Some of the wardrobe boxes were not new and that was never communicated in the Quote process. The crew took direction well for some of our items that required extra attention UNTIL the end of the day. I communicated to the crew that they needed to take special care with our vintage and mid century items. They packed up our 1960's mid century table at the end of the day and I told them 5 times to pack the leaves separate and to take extra special care with this expensive item. They packed up the table and went to move it and one of the leaves came loose and crashed into the floor damaging it in multiple places. The fact that they didn't listen and then damaged a prized possession was very disappointing. This happened at the end of the day and planted a seed of doubt regarding our other items. They took $125 off our bill to cover half of our deductible which seemed like nice gesture at the time. This ended up being nothing close to what we would want to make this experience better.**** Quote: Experience Good**** This went well though certain details were not communicated that ended up being a problem later. REBUTTAL TO COMPANY RESPONSE: I have attached the first pass at our inventory receipt/invoice for our items. The foremen added SC (scratch) to every single item. I let the foremen know that I would not sign because there is no specific information and that insurance might not cover it. He then called the office to discuss this matter. He came back out and apologized and said he made a mistake. Ripped up the receipt/invoice and started a new one where he was more specific about any existing damage. I took pictures of the original to show the difference which you can see below in the comparison. Yes we purchase insurance just in case something happens BUT the amount of damage is beyond anything that should be expected and shows neglect. The vendor has control over handling their customer service and making sure regardless of the insurance claim that the customer felt the situation was managed correctly. They can say whatever they want but ultimately I let them know we were not happy and requested more compensation. It was BOBBY WILLIAMS CHOICE TO SAY NO WE WILL NOT STAND BEHIND OUR WORK AND ADD TO YOUR COMPENSATION. One of the items (vintage mirror picture attached) that was damaged was not covered because the vendor DID NOT pack it properly. They were SUPPOSED to BOX it but since they didn’t we now do not have coverage. This is $90 that we do not get back!!! There was damage to another item that we did not catch within the 72 hr time period. One of the matching West Elm Large Penelope Nightstands has a crack in the marble. This will cost us $500 dollars to replace. With SO MUCH DAMAGE TO our furniture it was easy for this item to be missed. The main take away is DO NOT WORK WITH HOLLYWOOD MOVERS. THEY will not stand behind their work and ultimately you will LOSE MONEY. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!
